  • this is wonderful and the boys sound great. Mind if I ask how you got the B&W effect?

  • Boneypart...You need lose your Paranoia...My comments were on the great clip shown here...NOT YOU...or your Imaginary friend with you. It's an Open forum on here...Learn to wind your neck in.

  • Good to see them doing this and not looking like complete idiots like a lot of the punk bands who've recently reformed.

I tell you what though, you can look back at the early days of punk in the UK and see which bands took their sound from the NY Dolls and just about the lot of them were sunk without a trace by 1978. The bands that kept going were the ones that realised they had to do their own thing, so from about 1979 onwards you get a different sound coming in.

  • Can't go wrong with da pills

  • A great BO DIDDLEY classic. The harmonica addition is good. All credit to the Dolls for keeping Bo's name alive by performing his songs and recording them and giving his family the royalties he never got - they DO do that, don't they?

  • @UKRod Bo is credited on the album. I don't know how much money his family gets from it, though, since I've heard that he sold the rights to his songs back in the seventies.

  • Shame they only play these guys on college radio stations....

  • I f*cking LOVE The New York Dolls! This is awesome.

  • FOR you dumb shitheads who DONT know, this is a COVER song, OG by the originator of rock music, Bo Diddley, RIP

  • rock n roll nurse

  • Part of the talent and vision of a band is the ability to pick cool covers.

Whichever Doll picked this Bo Diddley song had good taste.

  • @boneypart They could play...they could mix...they could cover...and for sure they could rip it up...The Dolls been doin it since 72...never stopped...Just enjoy em...and don't bitch...they ain't better or worse...just rocking...and hey we all need a Rock'n'roll Nurse

  • @barney42bb

Is that comment really for me? I wasnt bitching about the Dolls, I paid them a compliment.

Expand your vocabulary. Learn what words mean, moron!

btw wtf does "they could mix" mean? LOL!

  • I was at this show! It was phenomenal.

  • They played this the other night in Dublin! Awesome! The place went fucking mental!

  • Thanks for this!!!

  • where's my rock concert boots......i'd fuckin fall like i did 45 yrs ago lmao

  • Pills was the Dolls biggest crowd-pleaser 38 years ago and it still is now. This song could have been written for the Dolls. I don't think covers get any better.

  • Awesome cover. Always ahead of their time and sounding better than ever... THE NEW YORK DOLLS ROCK!!

  • Props to the Dolls, but let us all remember that this is a cover of a Bo Diddley song.

  • course its the dolls, circa 2006, obviously without thunders, nolan and kane but wit johansson and sylvain sylvain.. loons!!!!!!

  • pillllls <3 yea baby

  • It's not them.

  • yeah it is I recognize Sylvain Sylvain

  • Bo Diddley classic.

  • yup.

  • i like things i can relate to

  • The NY Dolls at Max's Kansas City was one of the most fun times of my life. Just pure rock and roll joy at it's best! Thanks guys for opening the doors to artistic freedom WIDE & for all those nites of bliss...

LONG LIVE THE NEW YORK DOLLS!!!

  • I'm going to my first NYD's show tonight, and I was wondering...considering they are a classic punk-ish band, might there be moshing present? Just curious, since that is a hobby of mine.

  • Comment removed

  • Actually, it turned out to be awesome!! About halfway through the set list, I started a semi-pit...mainly just pushing, shoving, and whatnot, but it was still a great show!!!

  • The Ramones, like the Dolls, weren't appreciated as much as they should have been in their time. History will tell the tale of the Dolls- and I think that they are only now being recognized for what they were- pioneers of punk and rock. Long Live the Dolls!

  • This is rock and roll...he's even singing about it...how the f--k anyone can compare these to The Pistols God only knows...they were a Stones Clone Band that NYC tried to say were ground breaking after the event!

  • Punk is rock dumb fuck

it was also invented in NY no disrespect to the Pistols

  • sorry it was played in australia, the saints,im stranded take a listen.or if you want every punk band ripped off paranoid, oooooooooh no sabbath wernt cool then.

  • @jroo3017 And now they´re overrated. (talking about the Ramones)

Ok, so they started punk rock. But does being first in doing something makes you the best at doing that? No. Everybody sais "Fuk u fukcin poser!!!!11" if you say you don´t like them. I like them, but not as much as I like other bands. That doesn´t make me a poser anyway.

  • the Ramones wanted too be like the Dolls

  • Funny u should mention Kiss...I first heard the dolls in 1978 at 6 y.o. when I lifted 6 bucks from my mothers purse to give to the neighborhood (Cicero, il) Bad boy because he was gonna sell me Kiss' "Hotter Than Hell" album (Kiss was all I knew then!). He brought me the dolls debut album instead.

  • you should have thanked him .The dolls were much more poignant.

  • sadly neither Aerosmith or Kiss have the profound flavor of New York City... the rockstar of cities. Frehley and Perry rock, and they rock hard, but it just doesn't matter. The Dolls took more risks, first... were SO much wittier — and NONE of the rest would be around if it wasn't for the New York Dolls. The New York Dolls got all Picasso on rocks ass— the NEW YORK DOLLS WERE SMART — as in sharp. maybe too smart...

  • HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!

Guess where Frehley and Tyler got their influence/start?!?!?!?!

Behold kid (ie gibsong1970), the beginings.....

  • I wasn't gonna argue with the "bad-ass" so i just took it. loved it ever since. not as much as I loved kiss then but in retrospect and 30 years of rock knowledge...Dolls debut simply kills "Hotter Than Hell" and although all kiss cd's still sit in my bookshelf collecting dust, the Dolls' debut is still in the car!

  • i posted those comments in reverse order....u figure it out!

  • First saw these guys in '74...at a club in Jersey...The Satallite Lounge....they did like 8 sets...they were on till 4 AM....Blew everyone away....TOO MUCH TOO SOON... :)

  • im glad that david and sylvain are trying to keep dolls rock and roll alive

  • too much junkie business?

  • isnt david johansen like the only original member of the band didnt the rest of em die? i know the drummer did im not totally sure about the rest

  • sylvain sylvain is still alive, he is the rhythem guitarist or at least he was originally he might be lead now...... the bassist was alive but died shortly after they reformed

  • nope- he's still rhythm, but like the original dolls- there wasn't an exclusive domain on rhythm and lead.

  • thanks for letting me know, im a big johhny thunders fan so i knew he was lead back in the days

  • i love the dolls but i just don't understand my DJ dresses like a female 90s college student hahahah

  • I need to see another concert of theirs! They were awesome in this one (i was at this concert too.)

  • I'm going to see them in Pittsburgh tomorrow. I can't wait!

  • Pills was written by Bo Diddley.

  • Steve is shredding like always. Nice atmosphere.

  • great cover

    xD

    great band

    R.i.P. bo diddley

  • Dr G. and Dr. D were there, and it did indeed rock. Critics never like the Dolls. They hated them in 1975---but now count there albums as Classic genre-defining. So who's reading what the critics say now? Not me, Rock on boys, you want some coffee? Trash!

  • geez man. thats great.

  • Fantastic

  • Best rock'nfuckin roll band of fuckin'ever!

  • Fuckin' hell! God bless RnR! Song is a Bo Diddley cover, by the way...

  • New York Dolls are HOT!!!!

  • Digging this!

  • Justice....finally .

    Great sound GONG

    This shows what the Stones

    should do aggain,ya !

  • David Johansen kills me.

  • I'm a big New York Dolls fan and this is their best song! GG Allin and the Jabbers did a cover of it too! And these guys influenced some great bands, including my fav band the RAMONES! I think these guys were the first band to play in CBGBs along with MC5 and Suicide

    Rock On dudes

  • Simply fuckin amazing! Thanks for the comeback and the new album, which deserves several grammies!

  • This ain't the dolls, i'm not seeing Kane or Thunders or Nolan anywhere. I sure as hell see Johansen, or Poindexter, or w/e the hell he's calling himself.

  • that's cause they're dead.

that's also why i didn't go to this show, even though it's fifteen minutes from my house.

    RIP.

  • One of the greatest reunion ever. David is a superb bluesman and philosopher and all the other guys are perfect to act the "New York Doll" role.

    Go on!

  • Jagger could take a tip or two

    from THIS performer

  • Oddly enough, it was the other way around. But I love them both. R.I.P Johnny, Jerry & Arthur.

  • Ofcourse ,that's true AC....

    but unlike Jagger ,

    David keeps some integrety.

  • Hey Dave,

Thanks for ruining the memories for me. You just couldn't leave well enough alone could ya?
