And the original version of the album Axis Mutatis ('Abor Morla Abor Mala'), THAT version of the album hasn't dated in any shape or form. If u can find it (&it was highly limited edition) &u love experimental ambient techno, u'll love it :-)
Their old stuff pre-Boss Drum hasn't dated that much. Their last album UV went back 2The Shamen of old &if u listen 2that album now, apart from 'Universal' & '1999 Mix', that album hasn't dated much either. God knows we need another act like The Shamen now.
Things like the En-Tact album etc was The Shamen sound they were remembered 4. But when L.S.I was a hit due 2Beatmasters edit, Birkett @OLI wanted hits. So The Shamen sounded 'of the time'.
@frankiebones01 Ur mix is bar far 1of the best. It's dark, broody & still kicks balls now. I used 2love ur mixes when I was at the Progen tours/Return To The Source tours etc in London. U still remixing/producing?
@frankiebones01 yours and joey.b's on the other side...but its the instrumental versions i rate! luv 2 all NYC dj's & producers, the only stuff back then that was doin' it 4 me!!! ;)
At the time I actually remixed this, there was 19 other officially released remixes.
Just for kicks, go to the right of your screen and click some of the others and you will find that this one I did really held up well considering 20 years has passed.
@frankiebones01 I stumbled by accident on this one, bying it because I was a Beltramcollector. But your remix is by far the best remix ever made. Thanks for that!
Can anyone count how many versions and edits this song has?
20? 30?
There's Progen and Progen '91. In both, the CD singles are different then the 12"s. There's a US edition which is different then the European and there's also the grey CD compilation with more versions and samples...
They put out a 3 LP set of all the mixes and the parts for people to do their own remixes and it's like 19 years later and I just listened to the other mixes and the only other one that was good was Beltrams. The rest are in a time warp.
@frankiebones01 Aw, bummer. I believe that though. Their sound was highly "currently" stylized, which was badass in '91, but does get to sounding dated 20 years later.
Yea m8 your right i own it in my collection and have it pictured in my shamen uploads its called PROGENY and some of the mixes are actually called Bang to the beat of the drum on the vinyls....P.S. sorry im a year late lol but i had to comment to the great frankie bones.....lol
You start listening to the 19 other mixes of "Move Any Mountain" and go figure...this one passes the test of time after 18 years, and yet nobody ever heard it before.....LOL.....Thanks for the magical heal comment...I tried......
agreed. had/still have the megamix three 12s. this was always an fave. lovely squelchy acid, breakbeat sounds.... hard to improve on the orig tho i reckon...
