The opening line is, "She can start to walk out if she wants", a lot of the lyrics for the first album are like that, i thought Anderson said "I'm an arsehole" instead of "I'm an airsign" on "Sleeping Pills".
Wordy rock can be breathless and too full. Brett's phrases just fit: "It's there in the platinum spires/It's there in the telephone wires", "We shake shake shake to the trumpet/and through the slippery city we ride"
Wow I so wish I was a 90s kid. I would have love to have my teenage years when Suede were together and at there best!!! unbelievavly amazing, unlike the emo shit arround nowadays.
@TheDaughterofsin with you bro. hate emo's they're so idiot. dont worry after a few years they'll be all dead they'll bleed them selves dry using razor blades.
True say. they are definitely in the same vein. I think that Bernard is a slightly more talented guitarist, and his towering styule is where the real limits are set. Bretts voice is much smoother than Morriseys, though not always as deep and impactful.
I love listening to this song. It's a shame that Bernard left the group. His guitar work could have taken some of those songs on Coming Up to the next level. I still have Suede and Dog Man Star in the mix on my ipod.
lol bernard butler looks quite the poof in this holding his guitar that way. Awesome song though and awesome bad, well they were. The 21st century killed them off like many other great bands of the 90s.
Well maybe my favorite music video of all time. No other band make me felt like Suede. And i was huge fan, and i really tried to like Coming Up, but well the magic wasn't there anymore. I dont think it was just cause of Richard, anyway it was commercial record but it wasn't Dog man star. The best live ever ever saw was Suede with Richard touring Dog Man Star 1995. Never ever every felt that way in a concert.
In 1993 I went to see Suede at the Palace in Hollywood (15 years ago! lol). The energy was like nothing else. Maybe seeing The Smiths in 1985 would have been the same, I dunno. But this was a religious experience.. The crowed swooned and swayed through the whole show, entranced by the whole spectacle and trying to get close to Brett who seemed inhuman or untouchable.
brett is hot as hell , even now he is still hot, ..... suede the tears, suede...the tears same shit hahah for all the suede lovers listen to the tears
This still sounds good, even better than the first time. When will you fucking monkey finally realize that not everyone's tastes are the same as yours, musically or otherwise. You know you're just gonna get more hate and nothing will be solved in the end right?

FUCK U YA NAZI CUNT, Don't ever come on here and talk bollocks, Suede are one of the best bands Britain has produced. What has Germany done for the entertainment industry, apart from contribute a few archive clips of nazi's for Stanley Kubrick's A Clockwork Orange. I happen to love Radiohead also, however you will probably not be aware of the fact that Thom Yorke highly respects Brett Anderson, particularly in the early 90's, when this single was released. You know fuck all pal, so get tae FUCK.
Apparently 'By The Sea' (which also starts with a similar 'she can walk out anytime...') ws written around the same time as this but somehow only appeared on Coming Up. So Young is one of their best ever songs imo, esp that piano bit at the end...nice vid too.
What happened to this type of glam-y music, all Bowie / Smiths / Pulp with a sense of style? Britpop is so painfully sincere now, and going in this dreadful U2 direction, where all the songs are about the world's problems or whatever.
Suede and Dog man star was so much better than definatley maybe and morning glory. Noel gallagher always slags suede off but over all suedes music has been better and they split up at the right time. I also wanna give a shout out to 2 suede songs on there last album that were amazing astro girl and lost in tv suede classics!
Suede were just better than Oasis period! Oasis were just trying to be The Stone Roses, just look at Liam's stage act, it's a ripoff of Ian Brown! But Yeah the first two Suede albums are classics!!!
Coming up was classic too. I mean half of that album was released as singles and its actuley the none single that was even better like. By the sea, picnic by the motor way and the chemistry between us. It was a great album too cuz it was a gamble of having a new sound and it paid off. So to me suede had 3 classic albums.
Yeah i liked 'Coming Up also. And Sci-Fi, their B side album, which is alot better than most bands proper albums! It just shows what a great band they were.
suede definitely the better of the two, but i hadnt heard of noel slagging suede off, i thought that it was known that oasis were quite influenced and drew quite alot of inspiration from suede?
Suede, quite possibley one of the most underated British bands of the modern era.
