  • Why would you risk destroying your gun anyways with somebody elses reloads. Not smart.

  • @esh325

Exactly! As a fellow reloader. Nobody shoots my reloads except me, and only in my guns. I don't care if it's my father! It's common sense.

  • All i use is Ammo Bros. reloads for my XD .40 and i have never had a jam or misfire or misfeed and i have shot almost 2000 rounds through it..and they were all ammo bros reloads. Your gun was clean before you used it in this video correct?

  • alot of times some gun ranges will sell you refurbished ammo

  • Some of those failures were obviously jams, not bad primers or ammo. The depth on reloads are guesstimates... the glocks looser feeding ramp and tolerance helps to compensate for that... and the XD's higher bore axis and tighter mechanics are prone to jam up reloads with ding up rims and dent casings.. I'm from the hood and i know this... hope that helps.

  • XD's are just fine and I believe far more ergonomic to the Glock. Go read the springfield XD torture test, it out glocks the glock. On a side note this was my first IDPA many years ago. Dills makes a good point. The vast majority of shooting videos I see on youtube are complete fuckwads pretending they know what target acquisition and point shooting is. Gimme a break. That is all.

  • @SilkVerb agreed, i havnt found a glock that fits my hand, all the xd's ive tried fit perfectly, which is why im buying one exactly like the one in the video tomorrow

  • @SilkVerb i would have to agree on this point .. gocks are like brick.. "i have one " g23" they are good guns but the xd is well fit for the hand.. and is just as good..

  • its so easy for all you trolls out there to knit pick this mans style and form..... answer me this losers were are your videos showing you doit properly? huh? huh? i thought so !!!! my advice to all that want to leave a critisizen comment try this your self first....then andd only then talk junk

  • yep i only trust my own... ive had more failure to fire from factory ammo than my reloads

  • XD firearms are not as reliable as the Glock design.NYPD did test the XD and found that they were unreliable.Reloads should never be used in competition.Stick to factory ammo.

  • @boostimalaka1 correction, NYPD passed the xd on reliability, but it failed because they dont make the NY1/NY2 trigger set ups that glock does, on the long trigger pull they require. Also yes, always stick to factory ammo if you want reliability.

  • ok your glock is no better than the xd .40 like the guy who is "right "said its because of crap ammo or due to low maintenance certain pins becoming unusable and worn leading to bad stuff happening and dont say see my glock dont need to be cleaned cuz it does nypd got a surprise inspection of their pistols and two cop partners at that didint pass you know why cuz neither one of their guns cud shoot a bullet neither were serviceable one had his front sight missing lol wtf the xd sight aint moving

  • hmm looked like they loaded them very light definatly not a +p load lol

  • LMAO @ airforce.

  • is this a typical problem if you have higher quality rounds?

  • when he went to the left to shoot his left leg would of been shot making him fall to into the line of fire. Try tucking that leg in behind cover.

  • Glocks don't typically have the same issues with reloads in most cases. I would take those things to the range and fire a few mags to see if you have any problems. They're certainly not high quality rounds but again, fire a few and see what happens.

  • SHIIIIIT!!!!! I just bought a shit load or 45 acp round for my Glock yesterday at the Gun show from them. I got some factory loads and some reloads. Were they on the booth in the center to the right on the wall facing in?

  • man.... poor time and terrible posture. send this man to the airforce... CTRB buddy.

  • He would be shot already

  • Hey, did you notice that when his firearm failed to shoot, he didn't do the "Cover, Tap, Rack, Boom"? That's 1) Take cover, 2) Forcefully tap the magazine to ensure it's seated properly, 3) Rack the slide to clear out a possible jam and load a fresh bullet, 4) Fire the gun when safe. Just curious...

  • This was actually a problem I was having before this video was taken. The rounds weren't being fed properly because of the barrel ramp. They would just spring up and the slide would come out of battery. Barely pulling the slide got it seated properly, thats what I was doing throughout the entirety of this video. But your protocol would be the correct one if we were to get technical.

  • Most IDPA and pracical pistol shooters reload their own stuff. Typically, they go with the "lightest" loads to increase their follow-up shots and reduce recoil. Then, they put a light recoil spring so it will cycle the slide. Thus, they sometimes crank the powder charge SO low that some rounds fail to fully cycle the gun and the spring isn't strong enough to lock the slide back into place.

  • perfectally said... We also reload VERY low rounds to put cheap copper bullets on, and if we pack to much powder into the round the cheap bullet copper heads tend to KEYHOLE and do not fly straight because of the larger amount of power behind the cheap bullet

  • I go to Citidel Gun & Safe here in Las Vegas for my reloades. They Sell Cases of the .40 for cheap. Never had one misfire or jam in my xd40. But for carry I only pack the good stuff.

  • I hear ya, I think in all honesty my current XD was a lemon. I bought it 2 months after the XD's were first released and had to send it back to Springfield for repair. A little polishing of the barrel ramp and the new melonite finish for free and not one hiccup since.

  • My XD40 never has this issue. I shoot SPEER and Federal Platinum rounds and nothing else. Simple target shooting, I use Federal's target rounds. Works good for me.

  • How old is your XD 88? Originally this XD was the first one that was released, WITHOUT the melanite finish or all the sweet XD gear. They had a few minor issues because of that I think. Using factory loads is really the way to go otherwise.

  • I'll agree Silk. Can't argue with that but I still think the XD is a slightly better weapon and I own both in .45 caliber.

  • Indeed. There's a lot of great polymers out there. If I'm ever able to get out of California, that Taurus 24/7 looks like a phenomenal concealed carry piece. Taurus finally got it right for once.

  • My XD has never had this problem. Maybe that's because Springfield expressly states NOT to use crappy re-loaded ammo. Duh people.

  • They sure do, but so does Glock, and I've shot round after round of reloads through a G22 all day. It just depends on how the gun will perform, period. Springfield doesn't like them, Glock doesn't recommend them but will fire them. It is what it is.

  • i think that was couse of the bullet that has bad knall

  • well i have seen some police shooting videos wehre the gun jammed.and i think thats the most worst think which can happend while having a gunfight.

  • If you're ever faced with a real life gunfight scenario where your life is actually in danger, the last thing you ever want to hear from your weapon of choice when you pull the trigger is "click." Make sure you keep all your weapons in good working order at all times. This includes regular cleanings and maintenance.

  • use factory, quality ammo.

  • I got a XD 45. Have a prob with not chambering properly. It was flawlessly for 1st 500 then it started to misfeed. Last wk went to the range it jammed 6 of the 100 rnds. All I had used are Winchester 280 gn standard ball from Wal-Mart. No reloads. This wk shot 50 Blazer Brass and 50 Remington standard ball. 4 jams on the Remington, crushed the cases on 2, 0 with the Blazer. Called Springfield they said to return for inspection & possible repair. I'm bumbed but I still love my XD.

  • They'll probably do the same thing to your they did to mine. Cut the barrel ramp to stop the misfeeding. They also gave me the melanite finish which I didn't have previously. Great company, they'll take care of you. Unfortunately there's a few XD's out there that like to jam.

Crapatio- This was at the IDPA range in Piru, California sometime late last year.

  • where and when did this video take place?

  • Yeah, thats pretty much the concensus I came to months ago. However to combat that argument I did buy Winchester rounds out of the box and it did the same thing. Something with the barrel ramp. Oh well, doesn't matter, SA fixed it and gave me the melanite finish which I didn't have prior so it ended up being a good thing.

  • Springfield expressly tells you not to use reloads. The cost of Winchester White Box for .40 FMJ is so low, I don't know why anyone would even bother. I know reloaded stuff is a lower cost per round, but if you're on the range, training time is usually critical and much in demand. Unless you're practicing malfunctions, why use this stuff?

  • The solution to the issue is the case sizing. Some of my early reloads were doing that. The XD has a very tight chamber, and if your case resizing die is not set deep enough, it leaves the case fat at the bottom and the slide can't force the casing into the breech. Set the sizer deeper by milling .060 inch off the die.

  • This is why you don't buy reloads.

  • I'll never purchase reloads again, not even for the Glock 19c I'm about to buy in a week or so.

  • I can't even tell what's actually happening in the video. Is the slide not returning? Shells not ejecting properly?

  • The ammunition isn't even cycling properly. It was getting lodged in the barrel inproperly and I had to cycle the action every 3rd or 4th shot.

  • Wow. I was expecting a kaboom. lol. Glad that didn't happen. I guess the reloads didn't have enough powder in them to cycle correctly?

I also have an XD .40 with custom plating. Great gun. I new this was in Cali. Could tell by the background.

  • That was probably part of the problem. The XD is a great weapon but kind of particular about the rounds it will fire. Plus when you purchase reloads, the casing is already somewhat expanded from being fired prior. If the bullet and the casing don't line up almost perfectly, I've found that the XD doesn't like them.

  • I see. What ammunition do you recommend. i use Winchester white box ammo which is 165 grain I believe. I went to the range 2 days ago and shot about 300 rounds. Had one FTF.

  • The XD WILL fire good reloads without a problem, but there's certain ammo it just doesn't like. One of them is PCI or PCM ammo. It's notorious for having a larger bullet and skinnier casing which will jam an XD pretty quickly. All in all though you can fire pretty much anything that's new and not reloaded and not have a problem.
