  • i thank you, keep up your good work for us...

  • where can I get colored midi cables I only see red and blue

  • good look on the video

  • nice video man.

  • Awesome vid

  • I didn't need the tutorial but man you just groove !!!

    Loving this video !!!

  • oh, so thats what midi is, thats fucking great!!!!

  • Thx Lithion for this handshake method video. You are 1st one I know one youtube who took time to show this type of setup. When u showed that the mixer plays a major role to get the synth to interact with the mpc, it all made perfect sense. You deserve a handshake. What do u run your four assignable outs on your MPC to? maybe a Prosonus Firestudio Project...is that what I saw next to the mixer.

  • Col cazzo che ti davo una mia macchina per come tratti le tue!

  • so how do you change the midi channel on the microkorg to lets say next track and next sound ..

  • Very good

  • It's great that you are demystifying MIDI for everyone, good job!!!

  • Could you recommend some basic literature on MIDI and producing music within a PC environment?

  • man.....thank you, you made that seem way less confusing than i thought it was

  • Hi. Thanks for the vid. Im gunna get into music and stuff. but im not sure what keyboard to by. Im thinking a small midi controler, or, I was wondering if i buy a synthesiser, if the sounds on it can be put into my computer?

  • Hi man! Thanks for the vid!

I was wondering, can you also use the pads of the MPC as a keyboard to compose your notes on a Rack synthetizer (synth wihout keyboard), record your performance and then use the MPC as a sequencer for your rack ?

Thanks for helping! Cool vid BTW, nice attitude :D

  • how did he record the synth and loop it like that on the spot?

  • call me fam... gotta question, thanks

  • this helped me so much.

thank you thank you thank you

would you just track out as normal

  • God I love you! Thank you man. That was a HUGE help to me. I am just starting out and what you just showed me is not only what I bought everything for but also was a bitch to find a vid on. You should be getting paid. Check me out in a year.

  • Thanks for sharing. Its fun watching you play around with the gear.

  • does the mpc 500 do that too? :S

  • Comment removed

  • what is the mixer please ???

  • bro trust me u dont know what u just did to me since you showed me how to do this you just created a monster im doin neptunes style type music big thanks bro

  • why do i need mixer bro ?

  • @chanaez How else would you make any sound, you could use different amps also.

  • Thank You!

  • Well done, cool chap!"

  • Can anyone please tell me all the equipment i would need to run TWO keyboard workstations ( yamaha motif & Fantom G ) with MPC 5000???? Thank you!!!

  • wao i would love to put my studio like that

  • Thanks for the info....but why did you not explain what you did in the mpc in regard to the mpc as far as midi set up? Also......why did you not show how to link a second instrument to show that as well? There is 1A AND 2B on the back of the mpc. Not ungrateful for the info....just want to know how to add a second independent instrument and frustrated at how shit seems to not work the way i want it to.

  • high 5 big boy thats the info i needed

  • hey this was helpful, thank you, and thank your girl friend (camera person) for zeroing in on the mpc screen while you were doing stuff, that was really helpful, i'm constantly lurking on the mpc-forums, still learning, i post like once a year..........take care

  • "advanced midioligist degree," haha. you're my CC Sabathia of Midi my friend.

  • what mixer is that ?

  • midi = note data

  • This is so old skool now, not that that's a bad thing. These days you can do everything with with a keyboard w/ USB out and VSTi instruments on an ASIO-equipped computer--no MIDI cables needed anymore. But then again I'd still have these many love-making machines rigged w/ MIDI if I was in a live setting and wanted to be seen pounding on various niche equipment.

  • man great tutorial, i have a question, is this possible on my mpc 500?

  • @ShortBrownMC I'm trying to do the same with my mpc500 but I don't see were you can select the patch number from the mpc.... I hope someone can post a video of the same procedure using the mpc500

  • how do you record midi to audio after you get it into the mpc? when i record back into the pc i only get the drums i banged out on my pads and not the midi instruments

  • Can a computers sound card be the "mixer". is the mixer required? btw Im new to this stuff.

  • what mixer are u using?

  • how do you decide what synth to get? How dp you know if it got cool sounds and stuff...?! :P

  • wow u helped so much. im trying to start making electronic music, after learning guitar for so much, i am intrigued so much with how much liberty i have with midi and electronic music. U broke it down alot thank you so much! after look everywhere for a good tutorial.

but i have one question lithion hopefully you or someone will get to answer, after a midi keyboard, what other equipment will i need to start producing, electronic music, and about how much money for a startup set?

  • this was very helpful, amigo.

Question - will the akai remember which preset you were using on your keyboard??? cuz I sure as hell will not. mainly because I'm infrequently sober.....

  • What MIDI settings do you put the Microkorg on?????

  • YO LITHION (or anybody) what midi setting do you put the Microkorg on to do this?????

  • what are some sequencers like the one he uses but cheaper?

  • Great. Thanks for sharing!!

  • How can`t i make vocal echo's ?

  • This is basic midi and not very usefull

  • can i hear my ableton back through my keyboard that has speakers,,with usb?

  • how do you get the beats off of the mpc

  • @junglesurvivalcamp

You can either do it through the record mode of the MPC 1000

or record it straight through your computer or some other method

  • dog, clearly you made a mistake when connecting port F6 into port QG

  • Very good tutorial man!!!

  • i got a keyboard which has only "MIDI out" how do i connect it with my mpc 2000xl?? please help

  • Dont u always certainly need a mixer to accomplish this?

  • i don't have the money right now for the mpc cuz i'm still young but that MPC is fucking genius

  • Does anyone know how to use the mpc to sequence sounds from the motif es? I dont know how to set the midi parameters in the motif for this setup. Thanks

  • lol!! Advanced Midioligist degree!

    haha great vid dough

    peace

  • crazy stacking your micro korg on top of your extreme .....wtf

  • This to me is the best tutorial video on YouTube...he broke that shit down, but Im pissed because my Microkorg is at another studio in a different city and I cant get my shit...AWESOME VIDEO

  • see u have gang starr snares, u swagger jacker.

    MAKE UR OWN DAMN SAMPLES!!!!!

Just playin, i actually have dj premier snares.

    GOOD VID THOUGH!!!

  • You are the man!!!!Your video really helped me set up my Midi man!

  • Well.... i got USB - MIDI cable what program do i get ....

  • MPC..........DASH . com

  • frienda I NEED HELP!!! i use my midi guitar, and i nuied an akai s3000i.. do i need a sequencer for to use my midi guitar with the akai s3000i ?? if somebody can help me will save me! thx!

  • Charming reviewer. Great video.

  • this is how machines make loooveee. <3

  • that's nice, good job

  • @firesniper20

    haha that was funny

  • man, u saved my life bro!!!! AWESOME, thank u for caring enough to show us all how 2 do this!!! Even the ungrateful bastards, that talk shit!!! lol

  • When it comes to analog audio and normal computer I'm a wiz but midi has always been beyond me. Thanks for the introduction.

  • perfect

  • dude great video but im still new to midi stuff and i am so lost right now. one questions i have is if both keyboard and sequencer are hooked together why do you need audio coming out of both machines into the mixer. wouldnt you only need 1 set of cables coming out of the sequencer into the mixer? Im dumb help me out please!

  • they are two complete different signals, midi cables send binary code between machines. in this both machines are sharing binary code messages.

the audio cables send voltage (ie sound) so each device needs their own output and need to go into a mixer and then out the main LR into speakers.

  • Great man, I got to get me this setup. Funny, haha Midiologist.

  • hey thanks Bigman,. Very informative vid,. Can you get a midiologist degree?

  • Big man just saved my day ;)

  • thanks man good explain

  • Hey anyone know what I should buy ?

I dont have much money, Im 16 and i just want to make some cool rap beats.

    Reply please

  • Don't buy anything. Download ordrumbox. It's a freeware 808 and 909 emulator. Dick around with that a while and see if you're serious before you lay down cash on anything.

  • i can almost hear da midi.

  • Thank you VERY much. You are a WONDERFUL explainer and teacher, you really helped me put together my setup. Thanks for taking the time to help us all out. You are good man!

  • what role does the mixer play in all of this. if we wanted to record teh keyboard into a track in the mpc coudnt we just attach the audio out from the keyboard into the ins on the mpc? obviously...we would also have to attach all necessary midi cables.

  • thanks man. i did it and it worked. however i directly plugged the audio cables out from the micro korg to the IN of the mpc 1000. works ..but volume is very low in the sequencer mode in the main screen. if i go to record mode, its very loud. how can i fix that?

  • wow. the brother puts a video up to help people and you refer to something about his physical features? thats some whack shit! the man is dope for doing this.

  • lols, i want to be a midiologist when i grow up!

  • dose the sound from the keyboard go through the mpc or do they just play at the same time??

  • whaddup big pun

    hahah

  • u r fat

  • ...phat :)

  • good video, thanx

  • Why is it that when im Sequencin my MPC/Keyboard...Like if i have track 1 a drum pattern...Track 2 a synth from my keyboard, but when i try to do track 3 from the keyboard also i cant change sounds...It will play track 2's melody with whatever sound im trying to use for track 3.....Someone please help....If i want to use more than one sound from a keyboard, how do i do it??

  • 1st make sure you hava multitimbral keyboard if you don't then you can't.

You have to make another track so if the 1st one was track 1a, the next one should be 2a, and if you add another one 3a and so on....i think that's how it works, give it a try. hope that helps!

  • i already own a microkorg, if i bought a korg emx-1 would i need a mixer to get them to play through the same speakers?

  • THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS VIDEO!!!

  • hes awesome

  • So let me get this straight. If i bought a MPK 25 unit today, and had a traditional speaker system.. aka laptop speakers with just a normal headphone jack... would that be enough to play the messages from the MPK 25 through my laptop??? any reply plz

  • i got my roland juno-g synth / workstation connected to my mpc. synhts midi out going into mpc midi in 1, mpc midi out A going into synhts midi in. main out of synth going into mpcs record in.

i CAN HEAR AND RECORD the synth when i'm in the RECORD mode of the mpc 1000 (MODE + PAD5), but i cant hear and record any MIDI data in MAIN mode. got local switch off on my synth so that i can hear the synth in record mode tells me that i made the right midi connections...

  • nice wan man!

I've got a Korg Electribe and Korg R3 synth. I'm gonna link them up and do loops from the keyboard onto the memory on the electribe. I think that'll work with the midi link up.

    Please lord, PLEASE!!!!!!!!

  • Very useful info. Could you do a tutorial on how you did the original beat you were working with from start to finish?? Like how you started with a slow beat, sped it up and then added more to it?

  • Thanks for the tutorial! I'm interested in purchasing an MPC1000, but I'd like to know something.

How powerful is the sampler onboard? Can it do key groups and velocity triggering etc?

  • do you need a mixer to get the sound to play back?

  • no you can have the sound play back with out it

  • How do you export the beat to a pc?

  • you cant export it, you need to record it.

  • Aww man

  • What if you have a hardrive installed?
