Nah, I'd have to say the japanese VOs are better. The only time when americans do better VOs is when the game has a diversity of different races in it. Like a hispanic or a russian maybe. Just saying. Although it is a damn fantastic game. I'm on my 4th playthrough for persona 3, and it has me crying like a baby at the end every time. The Answer scenario screws you over pretty hard though. It's hard as hell too.

@Graynumber Sorry I meant voice acting not actors. Just people who overdo their lines and make their characters seem shallow. Like Yosuke in the English version always had the same yelling rowdy overconfident voice which while it suited his character it made his other more serious lines sounds dumb and as I've stated shallow making him stereotypical. I just prefer Japanese VA in this game because I can't understand them and their serious lines are more natural.

I've not got the games (although I just ordered P4, can't wait!), but from what I've read, they share similar themes (Persona is a spin-off series of SMT) but in terms of the story, they are pretty different. SMT3 deals with demons taking over the world and the main character having to choose how the world will be reborn, whereas this deals with a murder mystery linked to a strange world inside a TV. Wikipedia is your friend :P

True but you can take advantage, aside from All-out attack, exploiting a weakness after an enemy is down causes Faint status, which forces them to skip their turn and makes them vulnerable to attacks. So there is a sort of balance in it as well so that knocking down enemies isn't entirely useless.
