  • @killerportero - rave 4x or aqua net a blow dryer, hair straightener, and patience and practice.

  • @AsAutumnDies Thank you :D

  • yeah skate, i just noticed the cuts on his arm, which i totally didn't even noticed until you mentioned it...i mean until i read your comment....he's gotta story or two to tell, i bet

!...anyhoo, hope the guy doesn't cut himself anymore, and as far as the vid goez, i totally dig the music and it got me more into the punk rock mood and pride...good vid, good info and good mohawk dude!:) anyone knows who sings these songs on the vid, let this hot punker chick know and msg me! thanx!:)

  • @Nezza641 - i have thousands of stories to tell and still battle the personality disorder I have.

the songs were all from Buffalo punk bands. There is some stuff about this in recent comments that you can consult. =)

    be well and take care.

  • yeah skate, i just noticed the cuts on his arm, which i totally didn't even noticed until you mentioned it...i mean until i read your comment....he's gotta story or two to tell, i bet

!...anyhoo, hope the guy doesn't cut himself anymore, and as far as the vid goez, i totally dig the music and it got me more into the punk rock mood and pride...good vid, good info and good mohawk dude!:)

  • thats wicked man. and can i get the names of the songs? yeah i read the description but i want the names dude.please and thanks. ill prolly use this method and MAYBE change it up a bit to suit me,because i have about normal sized hair.

  • @TH3CROWDARKANG3L sadly i do not remember the titles of a couple of the songs. I know that the Third In Line song is titled "On the Floor" and the Blind Hysteria song is "Bad Day"

I do not remember the other two though. Apologies.

  • hey please you are cool and helped me but i wanna ask a question please tell me if the hair spray is very important for this process or not please i need your help thanks please reply

  • @mrarbiter200 hey there. the spray is not super important, it just helps add some staying power and I think helped curb flaking. I never had a problem with flakes of soap, others have and I am not sure why. I would always put a heavy coat of spray on each day.

    be well.

  • how long are sould your hair to do this

  • @axeboy78 when it starts to get around 5 inches this method is not effective. anything less is okay though =)

  • Cool thanks

  • anyone notice the cuts on his arm?

  • @skate12111 - hard to miss so I must ask what your point is for posting this?

hopefully more than a lame and ignorant "emo fag" statement perhaps?

  • @AsAutumnDies emo fag

  • i did this to make libertyspikes, and my mom made fun of me and said my hair was grayer than my grandmas. how do i get the grayness out??

  • Awesome video! Could you do the same method if you had more hair all over your head that you wanted to spike? I have curly hair that is about 8-10 cm long. If I wanted to spike that all over, would it work, do you think?

  • @JanDoon - yes it can work. I have done that in both liberty spikes and spiking my hair like Mike Virus. =)

  • my hair is about 40cm long and i only use hairspray...:D

  • aww those people are kinda mean.. :( to say emo and stuff, anyway, your mohawk looks awesome to be honest.. I'm having a fauxhawk and thinking of getting a mohawk.. maybe next year or something when I get tired of that fauxhawk :)

    thanks, great video.

  • @EvilN00ber - its the internet, i dont take it serious so if they want to be douchey that is fine.

Thank you though for both that and the compliment on my hair =) Definitely go for the full mohawk ;)

    be well!

    -d

  • DONt use SOAP!! Just use Extra molding gel! thats what i use and it lasts for days without any flakes!

  • this is a lie soap make you hair flake like hell

  • worst music ever

  • How long did this take?! Please Reply!

  • @YourShitzzWeak - how long did what take? Talking to make the video? Shot it in one night, edited over a few hours.

Talking spiking the hair? 15-20 minutes

  • @AsAutumnDies To spike up the hair.

Thanks. Because im in school and i was worried it would take to long.

  • Your hair is kind of curly like mine I should be able to do this! :DD

  • @CeeTee36 - You can most DEFINITELY do it. good luck and let me know if you rock it.

  • i will try this one!!!

but if you go to sleep they arent stay the same after right?

  • @PS2FanaticPlayer - I slept on my side most times but there were times I slept right on my back and I could still repair it without much effort.

  • it works

  • @wrestle2568 - oui. glad it worked for you too =D

  • the only thing that i have trouple wit is puting my mohawk in the middle sometimes i put it in the sides

  • if u wnt ur sht to rlly stnd hardcore u gotta mix powdered gum base soap water wood glue n hairspray n use tht

  • @crustpit - thanks but I was fine with this and then just using hairspray. =) I did not want to have to shave my head to get my mohawk out haha.

    be well.

  • can you also make a tutorial on how to make a mohawk for heterosexual men?

  • @pidde15 - did not realize there was a difference in how gay/queer people and straight people spiked their hair. maybe that is because i am not homophobic or keen on weak insults?

    be well and take care.

  • @AsAutumnDies there certainly is a something about homosexual people that gives it away, you can tell when you see them... i didnt say that it was a bad thing to look gay tho, did i? ;)

  • i dont get how all this process for a small ass mohawk seriously just get hairspray and a blowdryer it aint worth all this when the hawk aint even more than 5 inches

  • @LuckyBitch562 - read numerous other comments for my response to this =) be well.

  • отлично спасибо!!!

  • Very kick ass bro! But, whenever i try this it comes out great at first, but then after about 2-3 hours my Mohawk gets really flaky kinda like Ive got horrible dandruff. is there a way i can prevent this?

  • @ThatArmyGuy239 I think there will always be a little bit of flaking, I don't remember how much I got but I know it was not huge. Personally, I did not care because I am dirty hah.

Some ways to minimize it though: combing it out good when you shape it in final stages, and also a good amount of hairspray I think helps.

Hope this helps you out a bit. =) be well.

  • Wait i dont understand Why soap????

  • @beeftothetaco123 This has been answered numerous times in previous comments. Probably wont have to look hard for it. =)

  • a friend of mine used glue to put up a mohawk.. it was stuck in his head for about 1,5 weeks :D

  • @JinxDrug - nice! A mohawk can be kept up constantly if you keep applying product every few days. Some things...like various glue that is NOT for hair (hehehe) will be a motherfucker to get out. Gelatin can be hard to get out if you make it really thick. I have heard of people using things like wood glue and then having to cut their hair off to get it out.

general lesson about this: think, long and hard, before applying certain things to out hair =p

  • @JinxDrug ha my buddy makes his own mixture with elmers glue and eggwhites and shit

  • @bgretk but does it look good?

  • @JinxDrug yeah dude,

hes got some crazy ass tall spikes to

  • @bgretk nicee

  • I don't use soap for mine, but I'll try that out. Now I just shape it moist and go straight to the G2B. P.S. Like your color, one my red dye wears out I'm gonna dye my mohawk blonde (highlight sort of, to get a blonde with the natural black.

  • @JAB63096 that L'oreal red for dark hair is hands down the absolute best dye I ever used. And I did not have to bleach my hair and kill it even further which was very nice.

Good luck if ya try the soap method. Feel free to let me know how it went =)

    -D

  • @AsAutumnDies soap worked really well! thanks for the tip!

  • Im 12 and i got a mohawk (5 cm) My mom always make my hair!!

    P.s Whats the song?

  • @lancelking - short one eh? =) right on!

depends on which song you are asking about. There are 3 different ones here if I remember correctly. All of them are local bands from Buffalo.

  • @AsAutumnDies

Hahaha yeah~! Its my baby ;). But i mean the last song! I like it!!

  • @lancelking - that song is called "Bad Day" and was by a local band called Blind Hysteria. They broke up few years back but they were fun.

    be well =)

  • you like crust!!?? nice! i now have a mohawk but only cus i cut off my dreads and i wasnt ready for normal hair just yet. lol people always complemented my dreads but just stare at my mohawk...idk if its because im a girl or...???...eh, oh well. nice vid! do you still have your mohawk?

  • @lilSkrew4e - i like A LOT of things musically =) Crust, noise, post rock, black metal, drone and on and on.

I no longer have my mohawk. I have not had one for well over a year now.

dynamics are weird, I think society sees dreads as non-threatening character trait but a mohawk is still associated with violent assholes. not entirely true of course but then again nothing in our modern world is based on truth, but rather in isolation.

  • @lilSkrew4e -anyway, a day may come where girls with mohawks are not gawked at in some disbelief or disrespect. =) If not, fuck em and keep rockin it. definitely people out there who appreciate that.

  • @AsAutumnDies *sigh* I love you. lol maybe that day will come...but, i dont think so. mohawks are pretty common and have been around for a while.they have even been commercialized. yet people STILL freak when they see one. i dont get it. maybe its only cool if some dumb rapper or Rnb singer has one. But, i really dont mind the stares. maybe they find it intimidating.but they shouldnt judge, im the least intimidating person on the planet. complete pacifist!

  • @lilSkrew4e mohawks are usually pointy, colored and cable of stabbing, worn by "violent punx" and warrior indians, whereas dreads are worn by Marley worshipers and hippies =p no matter how many cute emo kids try to rock the hawk, it cant combat generations of ignorant stereotyping sadly. i feel ya though, got shit on so much for that thing (though i generally LOOK intimidating; I am really a teddy bear) or my clothes, from "normal" peeps to activists, lame for sure. hah i love you too? =p

  • @AsAutumnDies haha didnt mean to creep u out by saying i love you...i just liked your comment...i really like how your brain is wired, thats all. its true though, when i had dreads, someone would come up and ask me for pot all the fucking time. lol i hated it. i dont do drugs. but oh well. i wish people like u lived around here. i'm from a VERY small town in virginia....so its really sucks to walk around here lookin the way i do. lol

  • I spike my 10+ cm mohawk every day just with hairgel and -spray. Only putting hair gel in my hair, then hair spray and dry it.

But I think I try your way any time ;)

  • @t03ig - I ended up using solely hairspray later on as well.

and good luck if you try this method =)

    be well.

  • @t03ig Do not be an idiot .soap isnt good for the hair.yet its make dry then falling hair.sorry about ( idiot)

  • What's on your shirt? Thanks for the tips.

  • @MissZalternative - you are the absolute first person in all the comments to ask this question =) It's a shirt of Oakland crust punk band Born/Dead. Sadly they are no more. If you like the crusty shit and have not heard them, check them out.

you are welcome for the tips =) be well.

  • soap isnt good for hair yet its makes it curly

  • @00MrNaruto - you are correct. it dehydrates your hair if I remember correctly. Strips oils out of it.

  • @00MrNaruto exactly..

  • So I've tried this method before and it worked fine. I took care of my hair and it workd for about a month. Only putting it up 3 random days a week, and never two days in a row.

But recently as soon as I try to comb through it. The whole bloody thing falls apart. (Sad day) Now is this because I put too much soap in my hair or to much hairglue/ gel? Or from not adequately washing and conditioning my hair?

  • @JacobKingery - sounds more likely that your hair is getting too long for this method. That is precisely what happened to me when mine started getting longer. I would trim my hair and all would be fine. But for me to have a longer mohawk required me getting good at the classic spray and blow dryer technique. =)

Sadly, this method does not work for long mohawks. Once you get to around 4 inches you will probably have problems.

  • @AsAutumnDies - well balls to the wall. That sure sucks. But at 5 1/2in I can see why I'm hainvg trouble. :/

I’ve tried the hair spray method before, but with natural hat hair it’s almost impossible to hold up a section without a chunk or two slipping though my pansy-a grip and falling back to normalcy. I have heard that”got2beglued” works as much wonders with hair as Jesus did with Jerusalem. Would this work well with slightly wavy, gravity obedient hair such as mine?

  • First of all excuse me if my english level is low because I'm spanish. But I'll do my best! ^ ^

I really like your mohawk, i made my first today whith the help of a friend but after seeing your video I have only one question: What about sleeping? Doesn't it mess your mohawk? I mean, I move arround when I sleep so... won't that fuck up my mohawk?

  • @RyuGZ - no worries friend, your english is just fine =)

I always slept on my side when having the mohawk up, and I can be a really light sleeper depending on certain things, so whenever I would start rolling over I would wake right up. I eventually was pretty well trained that I did not move.

Really though, I had some rough nights on it and it came back to shape. I just threw more hairspray on it to harden it back up. I cant say I wuld recommend sleeping on your back with it though =)

  • @ronniemcrea133 - cant say I have ever had this question so thanks for asking something new =)

answer: nope. it had no effect. the sweat would drip as it would normally and it would not affect the hair, nor would any soap get in my eyes. the soap was on the hair and not directly on the scalp, which is where any sweat would materialize. The two would never come in contact.

    be well and take care.

  • wow, i love your haircolor!

  • @QtCazzie thank you very much =D

    be well.

  • i bet its a sod doing that evry day : P

  • @conformistkiller666 - hah yes it would have been! That is precisely why I would always leave my mohawk up anywhere from 7-12 days.

really though it only took 15-20 minutes total time. The bigger issue for me was: do I really want to spend that time every single day on fashion? answer was no =p I also saved effort and product and had things last a long time which was good.

  • awsome dude:P how long does it take for the soap to turn like gel?

  • @jayyDTF66 - it would be usable typically a couple hours later. Maybe sooner. I don't remember precisely. I would usually leave it overnight but I know there were some occasions where I did not.

Apologies that I can't be a bit more specific for you =)

  • @jayyDTF66 like 2 minutes

  • the soaps a lil weird does it really make it much harder? i use the got2b glue then joyco ice blast after to harden an seal it myself

  • @KakashiJaaku - hey there. the soap was not as much a need due to hardening agent (though it gets significantly harder than g2b due to it being wax) as much as making my hair workable to me. I have super fine hair and was not able to spray and blowdry until i got a certain blowdryer, and just kept practicing a ton when I realized this would not work for longer hair.

the joyco glue anyway was definitely good but expensive. for strength and hardness though, gelatin is unbeatable.

  • i got my hair done to a mohawk just 2 days ago its 4in and bcuz i havent had enough practice putting it up its pretty difficult how long would u say urs was in this vid and is it easier to put it up if it were to be alil shorter?

  • @88zack1 - hi there. first off, just keep practicing and since this is your first time rocking mohawks, dont be afraid to try other methods too =)

That said, mine was around 4 inches in this vid, but as I said to a previous poster I cant say exactly. But around there is a good guestimate.

Its easier to work with a shorter mohawk, but really once you got it down, and know what works well with your hair, you could put up a 10 inch hawk with the same effort really (maybe just a bit more time)

  • thank u so much everything works on my mohawk but this is the fastest it takes me only 10 mins i use irish spings the green one thank you

  • how tall is ur mohawk in this video

  • @HelloMyNameIsAustin2 I think it was a bit over 4 inches but I couldn't say exactly. and yeah man, the green stuff smells wonderful so I used it more than the blue hah. solely for that reason =p

  • @CountTheOdds - yeah they were a good band. sadly no more, but a couple of them went on to form a thrashy street punk band called One Way Terror which is well worth checking out.

  • The coloring of your mohawk is awesome, dude. :D and I shall now try this method mwahahaha! >:D xD

  • @NumbGirlB - thank you for the nice words! =) It was simple but effective in the colors. my favorite was when I briefly had this platinum/white mohawk going on. That looked amazing to me. Strangely it was completely unintentional and happened because color does not stay in my hair good. The only dye that worked well for me was that red, which was made for dark hair, was permanent and did not need a bleach job. ;)

good luck with the method. avoid the rain though! let me know how it goes =)

  • hey what brand of soap did u use cause i have irish spings in a bowl right now and i have had it in there for like a day in a half so yeay

  • @HelloMyNameIsAustin2 - hello there. I used Irish Spring as well =) the blue or the green, both bars worked great and smelled amazing.

You should be set with that.

    best of luck!

    -d

  • worked for me! i put my hawk up this way everytime now, its comes out fuckin' perfect, thanks alot man, i had trouble getting to stay up before but now im fuckin' set!

  • @MJB1994 hey, I am glad the method worked well for you! and you get to rock the hawk! =) thanks for commenting.

    -d

  • I have about the same length of hair you have in the video mine always curls back any tips you can help me out with?

  • @TeddyPN - I am not precisely sure what you mean by "curls back" so if you could clarify, that would help.

If you have wavy or curly hair, that type of thing, hair straighteners are good to use before putting your hair up. Or a chemical relaxer but I think those may damage your hair a lot more.

As I said, let me know more exactly what you mean and I will try to help you out more =)

    be well.

  • Nice dude ive got brown hair and the sides and around the middle strip of hair is very short and i dyed the middle strip all blonde and its a small mohawk style but liberty spikes i think (the spikes are spaced out)

  • @bartholder - if you're making actual spikes out of it, then yes you have liberty spike mohawk =)

Hope you have fun with it!

    pe(A)ce

  • hey dude i did this with my mohawk and it looked like i had frosting in my hair, what did i do wrong?

  • @hahaYOUsaid69 - I have heard this from a few people over the years and the truth is, that never happened to me honestly. I do not know why it is but I suspect one of two things could be happening: certain brands of soap...some people who have said this to me were using different soap, and the other is that perhaps the soap is not being combed out enough.

But if that is not it, I really have no idea. I suppose the hair color could have something to do with it.

  • Nevermind Bro iFound the Soulition iWas Taking the soap out Early.

My Mohawk really aint that long yet its only about 4"inches.

Its a Really good Method, but iHate it because People notice Little Pieces of soap in my hair and some Soap on the Lineups.

  • @DroidzxD - glad you got it working. =)

I was never one to care for appearance, so when it looked like shit or flaked, or even if i would have had soap streaks or whatever, I could care less. That aspect of punk gets to me, how much of a competition the look is...i find it to be bullshit. Do it to have fun, not compete with one another or feel superior, that is my opinion anyway =)

  • @szew1996 - thank you =) Mohawk love you too

  • i got caught in a rainstorm and that shit got in my eys and hurt like a son of a bitch!!

  • @hahaYOUsaid69 - you did NOT heed the warning at the end of this video =p I know your pain, believe me...it suuucks.

Hopefully you did not have to cross a busy street or anything though...or drive shortly after.

be well and take care. =)

  • Dude iHad it Before But iDont Know Why its Not Working Anymore??

Im Havin Problems w/ the soap part,

I Leave it n A Bowl Full of Water for about 2-3 Hours, Drain The Water, and Let it Dry For about an Hour.?

It Used to Make My Mohawk Stand Up Dry Which Meant it was Working, But Know the its Like to wet and Falling....

    Can You Help Me Please????

  • @DroidzxD - Your hair may be getting too long to work with this method. That started happening to me too, which is when I had to start exploring other methods. It might also be that your hawk may be too thin at the base?

  • so soap is the key. this is a pain with nothing but hair glue. especially crappy kind. I got Dep Sport. sucks.

  • @zombiesrcuming4u - really all about trial and error and practice =) A lot of glue I tried sucked on its own, but the ICE Spiking glue (in blue tube here in the US) was startlingly good but ridiculously priced.

Keep trying and you will get it. pe(A)ce and be well.

  • Cool mohawk, I get the same effect with just spray and hairdryer!

  • @countsmyth - yes I did too eventually =)

  • dam it came out sick

  • @itstykobitch If this was directed at my own mohawk then thank you =) If you are saying the method worked good for you, then awesome. be well and take care.

  • @AsAutumnDies haha yea bro im talking bout both and i tried it and it worked ah thanx

  • @itstykobitch as in sick???badass?

  • @chantydiablo yes sir

  • @itstykobitch sick as a badass?????

  • @chantydiablo hell yea

    <
