  • the us has to be there the south korean army is much weaker than the north and america is still technakly at war with the north there never was a peace treaty

  • South Korea-14th largest economy in the world. They have the money to defend themselves. Why is the U.S. military there? To make foreign investors more comfortable so LMB can become even wealthier and even more of a scumbag. A friend of mine said it dead on about South Korean scumbag businessmen. "It's people like them who make me glad that soju has formaldehyde in it."

  • North korea has a million man army which is brain washed to fight to the death for there leader. South Korea does have a better economy but would only win if the war lasted 6 months or more.

  • But why is the US military still in South Korea? Yes or No? Does South Korea need the US miltary anymore? Yes or No? And form your own opinions, don't base upon what the media says, it's all biases anyway. Do you honestly think that at this point, US Diplomacy with Korea is a benefit for the good of the United States? Do you honestly think that North Korea is really a threat right now? SK doesn't need the US anymore. They have been making that quite clear for some time now.

  • Yes the North Korean army is stronger then the south in respect to man power. And would attempt to unite the peninsula under north Korean rule(communist rule).

However the world's most powerful military(the USA) keeps the North Koreans at bay... So yes it is important to be there. When and if north Korea collapses you would see no need for American troops to be there anymore...

  • North Korea would love nothing more then a 1 vs 1 with south korea. The us military bases prevent that. After all north korea did invade the south 50 years ago...

  • You don't think that the SK government continuously flatters the US in an attempt to keep the US military here, to insure their best interest? (their best interest isn't reunification. No no no.) They are more concerned about FDI, which will definitely increase after next year's G20 summit. Fuck Lee Myung Bak. He has reversed significant progress towards reunification. He has done worse to South Korea than Bush has done to the US. Obama has made it quite clear that he isn't interested.

  • If they aren't flattering the US, they are conducting "talks" with NK, making up stories that NK is prepared to launch out an attack. NK doesn't want to go head to head with the US. China doesn't want to go head to head with the US either. You are very right, NK would love to go at it with SK, and SK knows it, they also know that China can't afford and won't risk the same kind of support the US can offer SK, and they take the piss, continuously. They've been doing it for 60 years, not 50.

  • The only importance of the US SK alliance is for the US to pay for their economy to stay afloat while they can ignore their problems at hand. Have you noticed? SK is the "least generous" out of ALL DEVELOPED COUNTRIES> they have donated the least to charities, yet they want more money, they openly proposed to host the G20 next year. They can't even govern themselves without the US standing behind them. They know it's true. They take the piss on the US at the same time.

  • This "take the piss" attitude is quite prevalent as well. You see it through the way they conduct internatiol business. If you ever do business with Koreans, watch how they handle the transaction part of the deal. They will lie, make shit up, twiddle their thumbs, dodge around the important part. Trust me, I know from my own experience. Never trust a Korean I say. The Japanese will agree with me on that as well. The Chinese might as well too. Country of lies and shadiness.

  • The only way you can have reunification is war. Your talking about 2 different ideologies capitalism vs socialism and communism vs democracy living in harmony united under one flag? I doubt it.

  • Wrong. There is always another way, and they had made significant progress towards a more peaceful reunification, the South Korean government knows this as well. That is why they are always so secretive whenever it comes to inter Korean relations, and whenever someone from the SK government makes a statement regarding what the North says, it's always on condition of anonymity because they don't want to show their face, saving face is an important part of Korean culture. Trust me, I know.

  • I understand there the same culture and language but sometimes in history the distrust towards the other is just to strong

They can make anonymous appearances on public TV, but at the end of the day North Korea still has over 500 cannons pointed at Seoul 35 miles away on a hill...

Those small "progresses" you speak of our a good step, but let's be realistic here. The only way is to collapse North Korea through the inside out. SK Capital Seoul reminds the Capitol. As what happened in Germany.

  • You can't compare what happened to Germany with what happened with Korea. Completely different situation. And different kind of people. I lived in West Germany in the 80s and I lived in South Korea recently. I can see a severe difference in how the people think and act. Germans are more sensible and were willing to work towards their goals. Here they just put it off til later. It's rampant in many aspects of Korean culture.

  • Doesn't matter. The same cold war border spiting the country scenario applies. Not the others work ethic. lol

But hey everyone has there own opinions and that's mine good talking to ya Im out...

  • The cold war was a 1960's propaganda campaign to stir up fear amongst Americans. The situation with NK is kind of the same but still different. PM me, we should talk more about this.

  • Yeah I heard they hate us over there anyway. Screw them lets get out of there and save a ton of money.

  • When polls are taken for the most admired foreign country, the USA comes out on top. When polls are taken for the most hated foreign country, the USA comes out on top. Korea has a complex relationship to the USA.

  • As an American I couldnt care any less about the Korea standoff. A war there wouldnt be worth one American life.

  • it would be death to the north but also dont forget the Nk are still koreans

  • America is NOT qualified to lead the world.

  • And what Pakistan is? You cant even lead your own country....

  • where did you get pakistan from?

  • His page says hes from Pakistan....

  • Even with our ever so glowing celeb pres. Barack Obama?!
