  • ALL things that come from animals involve high levels of cruelty and the animals are almost always slaughtered.there is no such thing as humane meat, dairy, eggs, wool or any other animal product regardless of the lies the industries are so shamelessly telling

  • Two hypocrites. The famous one has promoted Saga Fur and eats meat, wears leather. I guess they must not have retained him. The other "Joshua Oshua" has made a commercial for Lord and Taylor, which sells fur big time. Give it up guys, no one will follow your advice when you are such fakes!

  • 0:58

    totally agree

  • 21st century designer or man (woman) wear faux fur!

  • @designerlejla no,faux fur still promotes fur and it is sometimes very hard to tell the fake from the real.much of the so called fake fur is really dog and cat fur from china.

  • i love tim gunn, but i also cant live without fur. So i was so scared when tim Gunn said he hates fur. but then he said that if you can own up to it, hes fine. I wear fur and i'm proud of it.

  • @mybigredlip you are a sad and pathetic loser

  • @funklemonde no, i think you are. I own up to it. I dont try to cowardly hide myself and say that i didn't kill the animal. I own up to the pelts I wear and all you can do is clock me about it. I take responsibility for it and I'm proud. So if you want to talk about pathetic losers, look in the mirror honey.

  • @mybigredlip i don't eat or wear any animal products or use animal products tested on animals.i avoid everything that has involved cruelty to animals as much as is possible so what you are saying makes no sense.i have no respect for anyone who kills animals, you are the same as someone who kills humans to me.

  • @funklemonde Despite what you say, i still cant believe you put lives of animals before humans. The animals i wear bred extremly quickly and they are no where near extinction. I dont go out of my way to find rare furs. And who the hell is asking for your respect? If you are so determined to your animals, why dont you go out a be one. Cuz that is what I'm getting from you.

  • Fur is beautiful-- only on animals.

Anyone that is ok with wearing fur even after they know the truth behind the fur industry, is selfish, insensitive, cruel, and a moron!

  • anyone who wears fur is a moron, how ignorant can they get?

Tim Gunn is awesome for his opinions.

Madonna, gotti's, beyonce and all other fur wearers are lame for promoting hideous animal cruelty.

have a heart, do NOT wear fur unless of course you have no brain

    :)

  • @xeniakennedy i don't think it is cool at all when he says it's ok as long as you take responsibility

  • @funklemonde you're right, that part sucks

  • @xeniakennedy How does it suck? He saying you have the right to wear what you want, just own up to it. Dont be a coward, it think thats respectable.

  • @mybigredlip people might have the legal right but it's morally reprehensible to kill innocent animals, not that most people have a conscience

  • Thank you Tim Gunn for promoting non-violence.

  • @ZarahLean can't believe you can watch the video of the dogs being skinned alive and not care. I do feel sorry for you.

  • I am proud to say all of my shoes are made of man-made leather. I don't like fur and wool.I love Tim Gunn.

  • So in other words it's fake?

  • man-made doesn't necessarily mean "fake". man-made leather can be a good as genuine leather.

  • 10 stars!!! I love how you got TIm to touch on these important issues in a light hearted "fashion"!

    Much respect!

  • thats fucking insane... those animals are still alive after they're skinned..

I hope fur wearers get their own skin ripped off, to trade places.

  • YEAH HAHA!

    that'd be awesome :)

then they'll realize what those poor animals go through

  • @atearofjoy It's really quite repulsive, isn't it?! I broke out into tears when I saw that. Pretty sure those people who do that are clinically insane.

  • I notice Dottie's profile says she joined youtube November 18, 2009 (that's today!) conveniently the day after I blocked Zarah. Hmmm... makes you wonder why she's so aware of and sympathetic to Zarah's comments. And this incarnation is only 30 years old!

  • How bankrupt are people who invoke Hitler and AIDS, Jews and Gays, in order to rationalize their desire to look like Cruella De Ville, yet in reality take up no cause aside from selfishness. Zarah & Lilly, people who wear fur are either ignorant of how its made, or heartless and don't care. So which is it?

Warm people don't need fur. Has the cold gotten to your hearts?

  • Zarah, you're embarrassing yourself. 1st off, even if Hitler was a vegetarian, so was Ghandi... So where does that leave your correlation of mass murder to animal justice? Next, you tell Joshua to get a life? According to your profile, you're 56 years old, and you troll youtube spamming a guy who's trying to make a difference for what he believes in. Perhaps you should heed your own advice? Have you ever stood up for anything you believed in, or just wrapped yourself in material...

  • possessions to help you mask that emptiness inside? Zarah, as a matter of perspective, I just finished a delicious steak dinner, and kicked off my leather sneakers... I tell you that because it's not just animal rights activists that think you're an idiot. It's anyone who subscribes to logic.

  • Lilly, it's simple: we can live great lives without torturing animals. There are great clothes and food that does not require us torturing and killing, devastating the environment, and feeding all of our grains and crops to livestock (instead of to the starving children your friend invokes). You can continue to rationalize totally frivolous cruelty for fashion the same way all oppressors rationalize cruelty, or you can take a simple stand against living in the stone age and wearing carcasses.

  • I notice the Peta wackos first try lies and then threats but fail to convince anyone to follow their dishrag lead in "fashion". Zarah, come back!

  • Yes, compassion is "wacko". On the other hand, industrial killing machines (fur farms, factory farms) are totally sane. Just listen to yourself. It's pathetic.

  • Zarah,

You are a PATHETIC excuse for a woman. NO Glamazon worth her weight in La Mer would be caught DEAD in the tortured skins of dead animals. I hope someone throws paint all over your pretty dead coats. PS That hideous coat is not hiding your fat ass.

    xoxo

  • We don't do it so we can hang out with tigers and bears - that is ridiculous. We do it because animals have their own lives and would prefer to not be tortured, just like you would prefer to not be tortured and killed. I know it may be hard for someone as selfish as you to understand that it's not a selfish cause. I don't need to be "thanked" by a tiger - this is childish. But I understand that your warped perception is the only way you can make sense of having fur. I feel bad for you.

  • Let me get this straight.... I support compassion towards animals. You support mass killings of animals in death-camps (read: fur farms) for something as frivolous and unnecessary as a coat. Who are you calling Nazi-like? It sounds like you are the cruel, heartless supporter of an industry that tortures and kills. Your inability to use logic is amazing. You inability to have a heart is disappointing.

  • Zarah needs a math lesson in food ratios. This just showcases your ignorance. If you went veg, you could feed starving children instead of feeding all the edible grains to livestock. All of the animal advocates I know fight for human rights, animals rights, and the environment. They are interconnected, and people like you who attack us out of guilt, usually do nothing at all.

It's amazing what heartless hags will say to rationalize their cruelty and ignorance. You should be ashamed of yourself.

  • I am Jewish. The Nazis stuffed pillows with the hair of my dead relatives. Would have have slept on that and claimed it was yours too, Zarah? If you had any academic integrity you'd know Hitler was not vegetarian - and it's been disproven. The truth is that Hitler loved meat. His favorite dish was stuffed and roasted squab (baby pigeon). Look it up. Don't compare compassionate people to Nazis. There is nothing in common. You sure seem to hate animals, though. Fur is ugly, mean, and outdated.

  • Looks like I hit a nerve, Zarah.

Working in the NYC fashion industry myself, I can say that A) yes, you are W-A-Y out of style (are you living in the stone age?), B) I respect animals and have an "Adult" college degree in environmental studies, and C) there is nothing "natural" about the environmentally polluting fur-trade with run-off from fur farms and the chemically-preserved, tanned, flesh of a caged animal who was vaginally electrocuted to death. Very natural. Ha.

  • Zarah, you have such bad taste in fashion!

Just so you know, there are plenty of us who don't eat animals or wear them...so your chicken comment is sort of pointless. There are plenty of warm coats and yummy eats that don't require torturing animals.

Just to clarify, it's not YOUR mink coat. It belonged to the 40 mink you payed someone to vaginally electrocute to death to fulfill your attempts at looking rich and glamorous. Buy guess what? You just look heartless and way out of style.

  • I love Tim Gunn.I hate fur!I don't like animals suffering for the sake of fashion.I went to one of my favorite secondhand stores last Friday.I saw this coat,so like Dolce and Gabbana's long blazers from their Spring-Summer 2008 collection.I didn't buy it because it has fur.

  • I'm disgusted by the process used to remove the animal's sink. They are still ALIVE!!!!! It hurts to look at it. I was never a fan of fur but never new how the final product was done. Just knew animals were killed and was not cool with that. THIS IS ANIMAL CRUELTY. How is this even allowed?!!?!?!?!?

  • I would support Peta if they weren't quite so extremist

  • What do you mean by "Extremist"? That word is very subjective. I think the mainstream culture is extremist for the way it institutionalizes the torture of animals. Wouldn't you agree?

PETA is very media savvy, but i see them doing nothing "extreme".

  • well, they get people's attention that way--seems like everyone knows what PETA is and you can't say that about many animal welfare organizations. I imagine there are some in the organization who are extreme, and others who are less so. It's pretty extreme for animals to be skinned alive, after all.

  • @EquusFossil you don't need to support peta (with money or whatever) but don't disregard all of they ideas they present. They are not the only animal welfare disorganization out there and there are even better animal rights organizations too! Fur is just one part of a massive animal abuse industry so many fuel with thoughtless consumerism.

  • a fur makes someone look rich? it's the man that make the clothes, not the clothes that makes the man...

  • (it's called sarcasm)

  • Yes. TLcavvy, every single rabbit is killed by predators. May as well turn them all into coats. ha. You are funny.

  • actualy fur is just an acessory- its not a "must have" in fashion.

also-fur and leather are not indurable, when they get wet they are soaked wet- they tend to smell bad- they are not hygienic (unwashable) and attract parasites who loves to live in them.

  • Fur makes old people look OLD! Love you. x

  • Tim Gunn needs to know that Tide laundry detergent is tested on animals. If there are people out there who want the look of fur without the cruelty...FabolousFurs website.

    Peace

  • *Fabulous

  • Most people can't tell the difference between (good quality) fake fur and real fur. So, I really don't see fake fur as a worthwhile purchase since it may accidentally and unintentionally make real fur look good and increase demand for real fur.

  • I kinda agree...That's why when I wear my winter coat (which has a faux"fake" fur lined hood) I proudly wear my anti-fur pin. It is neon pink, and you cannot miss it! I also have a heart shaped one in red from The Fund For Animals...you prolly know which ones I'm talking about...it says "FUR" and is is inside a prohibited sign/symbol. I always carry a couple extra pins, if I get complemented from a fellow compassionate consumer, I give them one and tell them where to get them.

  • I get the pink ones at PeTA's website, and I order the red heart shaped ones from Pangea's website. Pink ones are $1 and I think the red ones are $1.50 or so.

  • Btw- Most older people are dead set in their ways and love the look of fur, and personally I'd rather have granny buying a fake-fur than the real thing, just make sure she has a pin or patch proclaiming its faux status. =)
