i believe thats Moonbeam McSwine in brown, Stupifying Jones is played by Julie Newmar and she's not in this scene. also just behind Abner and to our left is Valerie Harper (Rhoda) on her knees in orange and right behind him is the girl who played vera on "ALICE" in pink but you can hardly see her becasue he blockes her through most of this number.
1lzygy, that is so true. When you think about how long ago this movie/musical was done you realize the situation really hasn't changed... Amazing and sad indeed.
Carmen Alvarez played Moonbeam McSwine and yes, she is in the brown costume.

Some people don't know the TV show "Beverly Hillbillies" was based
on "Lil Abner". Jethro was "Abner", Ellie May was "Daisy Mae",
Jed was "Pappy Yokum" and Granny was "Mammy Yokum".
Too bad they left out the politics, which was the most enjoyable
thing about "Lil Abner" to me, although the Clampetts made a
fool out of Banker Drysdale often enough.

@1:38: Why aren't the men sent under Stupefyin' Jones' "spell"? She is standing right there in front of them.
Wondering...

What a GREAT musical! And this number resonates just as true today.
Stubby Kaye was also in "Guys and Dolls". A fine musical actor!
Great post!
