If this shit happened anywhere in the U.S. the people would have taken "Decisive Action" I'm totally embarrassed for my city for letting the garbage people and TTC push us a around.
A bunch of Tamils, angry and upset can block the Gardiner Expressway on Mother's Day, yet a garbage strike is making life very inconvenient for Torontonians, who have seen their taxes go through the roof, yet they do nothing about it.
I can respect a union striking... when it is for a good cause. When you get childish strikes like this, it makes everyone look bad. I have seen city workers actually dumping over garbage cans to make everything look dirtier so that their "message gets across". Seriously?! Miller seriously needs to pull a Ronald Reagan and tell everyone to get back to work or find a new job. Besides, the union is running out of strike money to pay their workers, everyone is sick of their garbage (literally).
Toronto is too much a socialist city for my taste. This silly strike should not happen at all in the first place, let alone for this length of duration which is 3 weeks now at this point of writing... It is so filthy and smelly everywhere in this city. I even saw rats runnig around the streets yesterday near the garbage sites. Blak death will be upon us soon, I think...
As I've always said, socialists and other union lovers couldn't be trusted to run a lemonade stand, let alone a city. (I've learned this the hard way.) They can't even face reality, letting those kleptomaniac unions have their way here. Suffice to say, New York now has a cleaner image than Toronto - and that was long before the strike ever occured. But, of course, Miller and his socialist buddies can't face reality.
I think if i were a tourist in toronto, i would be ashamed to of what is going on. it gives our city a bad rap and toronto is supposed to be a clean city. miller needs to do something quick before our tourism does go to the dumps...
Never mind a tourist...I live and work in Toronto...I am ashamed of my city, toronto is already in the dumps, its world news about our garbage look its all over youtube.
Its o joke that a bunch of lazy ass idiot unions can have this kind of power. We went through the same bullshit in Vancouver not long ago. I say Fire everyone of them and hire new people. Its garbage collection for gods sake a monkey could do it.
I started laughing when David "There Wouldn't Be A Garbage Strike On My Watch" Miller actually told CNN That no public events in the city have been cancelled due to the strike. But I couldn't march in Canada Day Parades because they were cancelled by Toronto Council! Is Canada Day not an event in the eyes of the mayor?
I can't even go to the frickin Islands because of this shit. I know people who work at Centreville who are currently unemployed and depend on that money for tuition. I'm sick of these unions holding the city hostage, McGuinty should get in there and sign some back to work legislation.
We shouldn't put up with this crap with Caribana on the way.
Fuck the union. We don't need those morons picking up trash when we're perfectly capable of getting rid of it ourselves. Start sending them walking papers if they don't want to go back to work.

I wonder how much Toronto's lost in tourist dollars because of this? Probably in the millions.
Toronto was always such a clean city...it will be again, someday.

Miller is a moron. He won't stand up to CUPE because they voted im in as mayor. I can't wait till November 2010 when Miller is voted out as mayor.
