  • hi ineed information to buy these matt thank you love u guys.

  • (cont.) My problem has been with wedding cakes having the bubbles pop up on the sides, which look awful in pictures. Will sticking the skewer down the middle help the side bubbles as well?

  • I am a hobby decorator. I get goosebumps when I think about The Mat!! Seriously, best purchase EVER!!! The price is affordable, so the only excuse people should have for not getting one is they haven't heard about it. I don't know how I survived without one - and have been sharing your link with all of my cake decorating friends. I use the marshmallow fondant myself, and it's a perfect consistency when I place it on the cake.

Also, have to say, your videos are INCREDIBLE!!! THANK YOU!!!

  • Thanks so much! I'm not a beginner; I'm a cake designer (Seattle area) and have a reasonable amount of experience with fondant, but The Mat changed my life. NO MORE ELEPHANT SKIN! It has been a blessing beyond description. Just last month, I covered a wedding cake that had a 20-inch base tier (the largest I'd ever done), and I could not imagine having done it without The Mat. I love that it's food safe (unlike shower curtain liners!), inexpensive, and doesn't take up much storage space.

  • @MaineMW Thanks so much for the kind words! I love that I can take a break when rolling out a piece that big (like the kids and husband will give you that much time alone, LOL!). Food safe is the way to go - the BPA's have been banned in many other countries, and are up for that discussion here in April. Patting ourselves on the back a little for being ahead of the curve! Thank you for watching!

  • I made a homemade marshmallow fondant, and I will add I'm definitely a beginner. But my tearing and cracking issues are quite extreme... Is there any way to fix or repair the tearing or cracking of fondant that has already been placed on a cake besides simply trying to cover it up with decorations? The damage is on the sides; the top looks wonderful..

  • @darbyalyssa16 I am all about people getting good tips regardless if they buy from me, so I hate to answer your question with the promotion of my own product, but it is what it is, so here goes. The cracking comes from drying out too fast. It form a skin coat, and then when you bend it, it cracks. I don't think there is a way to fix it other than preventing it in the first place. I believe in THE MAT "down to my toes", and there is no doubt it would prevent that from happening. Tks 4 watching!

  • Great Video and I have been watching and still watching but I want to know more about how to get red of the air bubble in the fondant I dont use corn starch I use shortening so tell me what to do

    Thanks

  • @2007dodi One tip I forgot to add to the video (I'll add it as a "Quick Tip" soon)- if you stick a thin skewer down the center of the cake, it gives air pockets (which can increase in size with temperature changes) a place to go. Had an air pocket pop out? Stick the skewer down the center, rub over the bubble with your fondant smoother, and watch it magically disappear!

  • @SweetWiseInc Thanks will try it. Regarding the fondant is Elite or Fonds better than Satin ice? I never try Satin ice, but I am not in the states right now because my husband work so the country That I live in now its hard to find any good brand of fondant the reason I am saying that is how is Fonds or Elite Fondant? do they ship it internationally? because I am selling cakes here and the fondant they have is sometime out of stock and it isn't that tasty and does not have colors. Thanks

  • @2007dodi I have always preferred FondX and Elite by FondX, but Satin Ice is a good option, too. Sweet Wise ships internationally, and we have some sales going on right now! Thanks for watching!

  • thanks for all the tips - I am looking forward to being a better cake decorator with all the information I have learnt since watching your tutorials

  • !!!!Thank you darling!!!!.your a angel send from fondant land i cant wait to get my matt.you have given us so much info i have come across all these issues. so glad i ran across you on utube.you explain it so well.and your also cute and funny.thank you darling your going in my favorites!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:)

  • @TheKcrazy14 Thank you for the kind words. It really makes it worth the effort to hear feedback like yours.

  • I don't know why people are buying these when you could easily make one for very very cheap...

  • @justmisskasik Because "what you could easily make" is poisonous. I'm sure you wouldn't make a cake for your family or customers with toxic ingredients.

  • One tip I forgot to add to the video (maybe I'll go back and do it)- if you stick a thin skewer down the center of the cake, it gives air pockets (which can increase in size with temperature changes) a place to go. Had an air pocket pop out? Stick the skewer down the center, rub over the bubble with your fondant smoother, and watch it magically disappear!

  • Wow your awesome I just starting making cakes about 2 months ago I would love if you cake rate my work....you can find me on facebook...Oh I'm going to order my mat today!

  • This is amazingly helpful. I love that you are addressing common issues with fondant. I know I've shared in this experience much like many other beginners. This is the first place I have seen anything about cornstarch making a gas or an explanation to sagging. Thank you! Keep it up. I'm sure you will soon be the most watch cake decorating channel on YouTube! Also, I am very excited to get the fondant mat which I ordered last week. It's going to help so much!
