  • THIS IS FUCKING DISGUSTING! THIS IS WHAT I HATE ABOUT THE OCCUPY WALLSTREET MOVEMENT! FUCK YOU! LET PEOPLE BUY AND SELL WHAT THEY WANT, HOW THEY WANT TO DO IT, YOU FUCKING PIECES OF WORKING CLASS SHIT!

  • FUCKING TEENAGERS FUCK EM THEY'RE RUINING AMERICA. GET A JOB AT FUCKING MCDONALDS OR SUMTHIN

  • @jmj540 you are a system slave.

They are fighting for the rights of all the citizens.

  • @jptugagmr And how is that? They are fighting for what? More money for themselves? In a capitalist society, people are going to be greedy. People need to accept that.

  • i hope the unions and the liberals have a big war with the republicans and they all kill each other.

  • So they disrupted an auction because there were people who made money there? That doesn't make sense, it just makes more people hate OWS than there already are.

  • I support this all the way! The next time something like this happens, though, there should be a lot more then just 9 of the protesters there. Keep it up, OWS! :)

  • You Occupy people don't even pay your local drug dealers to supply you with pot, and are getting shot and killed over it in your emcampments. At least these people are paying for their artwork. Shitheads!

  • Who's fucking business is it of yours to challenge what these people spend their money on. Brats!

  • @reb618 they were informing the buyers that by purchasing through sotheby's they were supporting a greedy company that has no concern for its workers. did you even watch the video? no one was ever criticized for wanting to spend their money on art. you're clueless.

  • Next time time just bring one of those little bottle that smell like raw eggs (fart bombs/stink bombs) and break one there... now, that's how you sabotage a meeting. I will guarantee you, people will not be able to stand the smell.

  • u shud of blew the room up instead lol

  • Nice intimidation tactics, why does everybody think your a bunch of union thugs again?

  • RESPECT!!! *cheer*

  • .

    GOOD JOB #OWS, GOOD JOB

    .

  • These people who protesting are doing what is wrong in the building but I agree with the message. They can go outside. They are in private property. If the building is public then it is fine. People who want to buy the paintings is their right of freedom of speech if it is wrong the management is doing. It is not right strike the building. Have you see strikes outside of the building. Peace and love.

  • Sotheby's gave it's CEO a 125% raise in 2010, but locked the workers out after they refused to accept stiff givebacks such as signing away their right to sue in federal court for employment discrimination (why was Sotheby's even asking for this) and giving Sotheby's the right to take away their pension plan.

  • These idiots aren't really interested in making friends are they? I guess it's not too surprising since they aren't interested in understanding much else either.

  • huge rally on fifth ave at 63rs st mon oct 3rd at 530 pm to support these workers and to occupy where the wealthy from wall st live

  • The hostility which Sotheby's porters (generally) express to the clients who shop there might be better directed to Sotheby's management, but "art sales" by definition means certain people are going to be way richer than others. If you've got an attitude that some have lots more money than you, perhaps a different line of work is in order. My view, it tends to be the difference between gratitude and entitlement, "thank you" vs. "you owe me something". Yes, there are class differences. Too bad.

  • you're right, Christie's has been unionized for 3 years since 2008, but not long enough to fuck up their employee's attitude. I'm happy you love your husband, and I admit spoke in generalities (not all are lazy al the time), but it's well known , and constantly discussed in the NYC art market how bad the portering attitude is at Sotheby's. I've been a frequent customer at both places for 30 years, and the difference is like night and day. "Class revolution"? The attitude speaks for itself.

  • you're both right, Christie's has been unionized for 3 years since 2008, but not long enough to fuck up their employee's attitude. • Bravo

  • @water00boy check your facts clown, Christie's is union too. Same Teamster local actually.

  • your faces are on camera BIDDERS, when the class revolution comes, you will be the first...

  • @dejanSLO84 That's really the point of these kinds of displays, death threats by a bunch of ignorant kids who have been inculcated with hate and prejudice against people of whom they know nothing. Teaching kids to hate "the rich" is no different from what has happened in the past when kids were taught to hate Jews, blacks, or other groups. It;s ugly bigotry and prejudice of exactly the same kind.

  • I work for an art dealer, and am in Sothebys constantly. Their "art handlers" are lazy, unhelpful, ill trained, and have an attitude of arrogence and hostility. Christie's, un-unionized, is friendly, helpful, cheerful, and generally much more pleasant to work with. It's known Sotheby's pays their work force more because they're forced to by UNION. Funny why their attitude still sucks!

F.Y.I., some probably make more than me, but they're still a**holes. So are #OccupyWallStreet.

  • @water00boy My Husband is one of the people you are talking about. He is an art handler and sothebys and for you information is not lazy, unhelpful, ill trained, and does not have an attitude of arrogance and hostility. Actually he is the nicest guy you would EVER meet and like it was said Christies guys are local 814 also. They also just got a good contract.so therefor you have no idea what you are talking about.

  • Having stolen all that loot, they gotta spend it on something, while it's still worth something. This is how they did it...... vimeo(dot)com(backslash)25278394 . If you're not outraged after watching that, you must be dumb as a rock.

  • Is that first girl single? I'll make you happiest girl in the world.

I do think the audiences body language is very telling. They don't even react.

  • Auctioneer: "Hopefully that is the last interruption of the day."

    Fluttershy: "KANYE WEST."

    Kanye: "I'mma let you finish!"

  • @kayleedance613 forgot to mention, mon oct 3rd we are holding a big rally at the homes of these wall st wealthy

on fifth ave and 63rd st at 530 pm,lets take back america.

  • @kayleedance613 huge rally mon oct 3 at 530pm fifth ave and 63rs st, where these wealthy wall st live

  • nicely done

  • 85,000 and 130,000, 100,000 for tiny pieces of art. Pieces of human garbage is what these people are that are bidding on this junk. And then what I find really funny is the amount of security they have to remove the people causing a disruption, yet it's like not even one person in the chairs leaves even after each disruption. Does'nt even look at the person causing the disruption.

  • @JWieger If you don't think these things are worth it then don't buy any of them. Problem solved. Oh, but that's not what you want. You want to impose YOUR judgments on others because you are so brilliant that you should be allowed to enforce your judgmentalism at the point of a gun. How consistent of you.

  • @MrSubtle Frankly I would never point a gun at anyone I'm the peaceful type, it's these people willing to spend thousands on a piece of art that's just going to hang on thier wall or sit on thier desk, that they deserve to be shot, they could be doing better things with their money rather than buying crap like this.

  • @JWieger You might not personally want to point a gun at anybody but isn't that exactly what the protests are calling for? Is calling for others to commit the violence any morally better than doing it yourself? Be that as it may, whether you like what those people are doing with their money or not, why should you have any say in such matters? Why should you even care what other people are doing with their own money? It's not like it's hurting or threatening anybody by buying art.

  • @MrSubtle , First the protests are not calling for violence, yet that seems to be what the police are good at doing causing pain to others. They can do what they like with thier money, I just meant they can put it to better use by helping some charity, person or group by using that money to help someone else rather than themselves.

  • @JWieger Of coure they are calling for violence. When they call for taxes, regulations, etc. that is calling for violence against anybody who doesn't go along with what they are ordered to give up or to do or not do. It is intolerance to pass laws that impose your values on others who have not stolen, defrauded, or assaulted anybody. What is it that you think happens when laws are passed to compel people to obey your demands and they don't?

  • @JWieger Second... A: How do you know that this money can be better spent on a charity? B: In what sense is that "better"? C: And for whom? D: And if there's a disagreement on the subject who should decide?

I think the answer is clear that:

A: You can't possibly know without knowing the individual people and their situations and abilities

B: All you are saying is that you have a feeling...not a sound reason

C: For those who have not earned the money

D: The one who did earn it

  • LOL. This group is even more juvenile that I'd imagine they'd be. You certainly have the rich quaking in their ugg boots, though!

  • @burgundyyears And what would you do?

  • @burgundyyears Totally, dude. Only children bring attention to oppression. Me and burgundyyears will keep our heads in the sand, if you want to find us. Have fun protesting your little things.

    KEEP WORKERS POOR AND SILENT!

    #OccupyMainStreet

  • @burgundyyears Juvenile?? They are standing up for the rights of strangers for no reason other then human fraternity, people say that America is a Christian nation yet how many truly "love thy neighbour as thyself".

  • @xdir AS A TEAMSTER FROM LOCAL 814 AT SOTHEBYS,WE STAND UP FOR EACH OTHER,THERE IS A WAR ON WORKERS IN THIS COUNTRY AND THE MIDDLE WORKING CLASS, WE MUST STAND UP TO THE CLASS WARFARE IN THIS COUNTRY.TEAMSTER SOTHEBYS IS PLANNING A BIG RALLY AT THE HOUSE OF WHERE SOME OF THESE WALL ST WEALTHY LIVE ON MONDAY OCT, 3RD AT 530PM ON FIFTH AVE AND 63RD ST, SURE TO GET MEDIA AT THIIS EVENT,WE ARE VERY PROUD AS TEAMSTERS AND ALL WORKERS WHOM STAND UP FOR THOSE WHO STAND UP FOR THEMSELVES, THANKS TO ALL.

  • @xdir Yup. Juvenile. They have no idea what it takes to make money or create or maintain an advanced technological civilization, and show up and demonstrate their prejudice and bigotry for all to see. Quite juvenile indeed.

  • Comment removed

  • @xdir Um, it's a union labor dispute. Please don't pimp vague notions of Christianity for cash. Jesus didn't much care for people who used religion as a means to enrich themselves.

  • @burgundyyears Jesus would probably have supported unions which give the working classes a way of negotiating at a fair level with the ownership classes. Obviously the concept didn't exist at the time, but I encourage you to read the sermon on the mount to see how old mr. J's attitudes towards social structure and wealth distribution.

  • badass

  • When is enough, enough for the greedy? People will be complacent no longer. Pay your workers a decent wage, give decent pensions and healthcare. Greed will catch up with you!

  • @conchf It is interesting that you talk about greed like this. If all you mean by "greed" is wanting to be better off than you are now, there's nothing wrong with that. This sense of the word is what has led us from being cave dwellers to be people living in an advanced civilization. But perhaps you mean by the word "greed" the idea of a desire to get ahead by means of violence, fraud, or theft. This has nothing to do with the desire to get something, but the means of getting it. Continued..

  • @MrSubtle So who is being greedy here? The people who make an honest living and do very well at it, or these guys threatening us all if we don't cough up a bunch of unearned benefits for them? How is that not "greed" of the very worst kind?

  • @conchf Isn't screaming and threatening people in pursuit of above market wages and benefits rather, what is the word...greedy?

  • You can further support Sotheby's art handlers by searching Sotheby's Bad for Art.

  • Thugs

  • nice!
