Rock and Roll is a fusion of jazz, bles, jump blues, gospel, r&b and juke joint music. There are records going back to the 30s with the R&R feel (wailing sax, blaring guitars) but true Rock and Roll had to have the distinctive back beat. In my opinion, the first rock and roll record was Gee by The Crows.
