  • i just realized sh201 looks like the word shzoi, and it reminded of this video.

  • i love the sound of plastic keys being hit by fingers..NOT!!!...plug in the audio OUT to the camera IN...

  • Whats the patch at 55 seconds?? That's a great sound, would really help me out.

  • what is the first patch number

  • what are the sound numbers

  • I think its user D7 either that or A1

Guesses tho i might be wrong

  • Does the sh-201 need to be plugged into external sound device (speakers\etc...) or I can just plug it to the electricity and play?

  • Yes it does need to be connected to an external device.

  • you need to plug it into something else. it has no built in speakers

  • headphones/ line out/ usb audio

  • nicely done. you gota myspace man?

  • You are amazing. Where did you learn how to play like that? I'm gonna be ordering a SH-201 so I figured I'd look up some videos on it and this is definitely one of the best I've seen so far.

  • di che anno è?

  • sif you would put that roland juno on its side.

  • hey.. i own one of these and i just thought to ask....

Do you know how to turn off the sound of the metronome when you record...?

    sweet sound.. by the way..

    and Thanks.:)

  • Read the manual.

  • the best

  • 2nd song owned like no other

  • dude the second song is dope,is it original?

  • I like how it just says ROLAND JU... in the background

  • is that a Juno D in the background?, why isnt it on a stand lol?

  • Wow GREAT SOUND!!!

What is the title of the song that begin at 1:13? It's your composition?

  • Yeah, thats a beat I made playing from my Roland sampler. Glad you like the sound.

  • can i play bliss (bizarre 1999) on this synth ?

  • some parts seems like the osaka jam of muse

    awesome !!!

  • Does anyone or the poster, know how to make your own arpegios? Does it have to be amde in the editor, if so how? thnx

  • you have to use a program compatible with VST plugins

  • and is it possible to use it as synth for electric guitar too? ( connecting guitar to the keyboard and modifying sounds )

  • You can connect a sound source into a phono input and apply a cutoff filter, but thats as far as it goes.

  • @cipolinho If you want to do that, there are other options available: one would be the electro harmonix micro synth, a synthesizer effect pedal for electric guitar, which is less than half the prize of this synth, or the alesis micron synthesizer which can modify external audio quite well, but is not as easy and intuitive to use as the sh-201. If you don't mind having to program your sounds instead of tweaking them on the fly the micron might be an alternative for you.

  • @dudewhosaysarrh ok thanks for your suggestions

  • i had a electronic keyboard but im new at synth, do you think that i could make good electronic / disco sounds even with a sh 201? ( for give an example like in songs of shiny toy guns, le disko / you are the one ) thanks.

    nice video btw

  • I was surprised at how good the sounds are when the interface is simpler than most synths. Youd definitely get some good disco shizzle going on with it.

  • its hella cheap too

  • Should've gotten a JP-8080 for the money you spend on the SH-201. The JP-8K and JP-8080 have plummeted in price recently. I got a JP-8K for $400 maybe I was lucky.

And for god's sake program your own patches!

  • I do, it's lots of fun, but I was glad to find that acid sound right out of the box. I was looking for the JP for ages but couldn't find one second hand so got bored and settled on this. I can't see them being much different from each other, other than the build quality of a brand new SH being better than a discontinued, second hand JP.

  • Sounds like Drum n bass exept 5 times slower.

  • I just saw one of these on ebay at half the price.

I guess same as with some of the electribes, first buyers get bored, so there's bargains to be found for lots of us enthousiasts. ;-) If you care to wait a while.

  • is this the best roland synth keyboard to buy because i want to buy one but i'm not sure it if is the one i should get. i want to get one that is capable of not just playing retro synth sounds but also cool new synth sounds as well.

  • I find it is one of, if not the best synth for first time buyers. You can create all kinds of sounds (retro and new) and the interface is easy as pie to use, unlike a lot of other more complex synths that seem to demand a million configurations to come up with the simplest sound.

  • does it have a built in drum machine? if not, whats a good cheap one? or should i just go for the yamaha mm6?

  • Nope, no drums, just synth. The Korg electribes are good for sequencing drums and synth in one box, they go for about £400. No idea what an MM6 is.

  • does that have a keyboard though, i want a 201 with a drum machine but dont want to spend heaps.

  • I wouldn't bank on finding something like that for cheap. The electribe EMX-1 has a finger pad style keyboard but only one oscillator. The drum sounds are pretty good though, as is the sequencer. That's the best you'll do without resorting to the V-synth (£1000+).

  • thanks for the help, ill probably get a padkontrol along side my 201. thanks again!

  • did u make up the phrase between 1:12 and up to about 1:45?

  • Yeah, it's pretty much all improv.

  • or also, a sound library?

  • It comes with it's own built in sounds. The first patch is a built-in sound.

  • have the sh 201 a drums library?

  • no, its for synth purposes only!

  • whats a good main synth?

  • Seems like a nice synth, but how good is the keybed on it...does it feel nice? :)

  • Oh yeah, it's a real nice keyboard, probably the best i've played with on a synth.

  • i'm getting one of these

  • is that the supersaw?

  • The second bass lead heard is the super saw.

  • sounds sweet!!!

  • sounds great, but i'll stick to my polysix

  • The SH-201 is an awesome synth. The price is low, and although it's digital you can get some nice dirty and gritty sounds from it. Word of caution though, don't buy this as a main keyboard. It's more an "add on" synth to an existing set-up.

  • thx for the advice, I'll deff keep that in mind.

  • So everything I hear on this video, is coming from this synth?

  • The leads are coming from the synth. The beats are coming from an off-screen sampler.

  • great!

  • Gloomy and nice!

  • Nice stuff!! :-)

  • what number of patch is it the first?

  • I think its User A-2, then turn off the arpeggiator.

  • can you send me this as a preset?

  • The first is a preset on the synth. I can't send the second. Sorry.

  • Can't you send us your whole library? :D

  • nice...nice

  • awesome!
