Love this ! I play this a lot on gutsy organs such as the glorious Walker of this Cathedral. First part is easy but after the trio in the middle section the last couple of pages has some fancy foot work for the player. If u want to test the lungs of a organ this is a good piece to demonstrate it well done.
Wonderful piece. There's a recording of it played by Dr.Francis Jackson at York Minster, but I don't think it's on the 'web'; that one is superb if you can find it.
Alpha Records, AVME 016 (1964). Bought a second hand copy in the York Oxfam shop a couple of years ago. Herr Rothfuß's performance is far more exciting and engaging - Jackson's recording takes it significantly slower and his choice of stops doesn't show off Guilmant's intricate counterpoint anything like as effectively. The recording quality isn't good, either, and is also compromised by the poor acoustics in the Minster. This is a lovely video - many thanks.
i like this organ and the way you play very much. are there any mp3 files available. you tube quality is not so good. i was organicing organ concerts in vienna. my home organ is in the mariabrunner kirche in wien 14 district! organ from 1850. thank you and regards, sorry for my english!
@Aaronorganist19 it is fully pneumatic. only fully pneumatic cathedral organ in the country. it's fun to play though (I learn on it and play for my school assemblies.)
@Knappa22 sorry to disappoint but it is fully pneumatic. only fully pneumatic cathedral organ in the country. it's fun to play though (I learn on it and play for my school assemblies.)
