  • Now I am feeling homesick......I used to live in Ripon and even did a play in the cathedral.."All Roads" about the life of St Wilfrid!!

  • I sang in this Cathedral as a visiting choir member both as a boy and an adult. Wonderful experience.

  • Thank you. More Cathedrals soon!

  • Great video, superb organ which I believe is about to be restored by Harrison & Harrison of Durham. Ripon is a truly magnificent Cathedral!

  • I am at present in India, having just been in Goa. In old Goa there happens to be the largest Church (Cathedral) in all of Asia. I recorded a video of this Cathedral (8 mins) and will be posting it when I get back which will be in late March. I have others too which include the Hare Krishna temple in Ahmedabad.

    HTdasa.

  • It is a very beautiful cathedral. I visited it in July 2009 when I was staying with friends in Northallerton. I shall certainly try to get back to Ripon again. Thanks for the video.

  • hello, saw your video. nice. what camera do you have - it looks good.

  • I use a Canon G10 which for me is the best of all worlds. Glad you liked the video.

  • Hello HT dasa

    Thank you for replying.

I'll have a look at one of those - looks very good.

  • Absolutely breathtaking, thanks for posting... I recently visited Downside abbey near Bath and was completely blown away... Those places are amazing, you really feel a presence of God when your in a place like that...

  • What I find most interesting is that God is everywhere and in all things but the devotional aspect of a church or cathedral brings His presence to our attention. I'm a Hare Krishna devotee and I just love any grand religious building. Thank you for your comments.

  • @karlosprabhu I love that Catherdral, been in there many times, probably the best time to go though is at New Years Eve, when there's a service at about 10pm I think it is.

Then there's always a torch light procession lead by the Ripon City Brass band, to the Town hall when the Hornblower blows the horn that stems back a few centuries ago (not exactly sure which century it is), but Wakeman was the first Mayor of Ripon, written above the town hall in Latin I believe.
