Chris VA is not even close to Hedi's fierceness and talent, but I gotta admit that this collection is pretty decent, I'm not feeling the baggy pants but I do love the turtle necks and some of the jackets.
Dior Homme is not the same since Hedi left ,of course, but I guess Chris is trying to do his best? Anyways...I love Dior Homme NMW.
why? he didnt sell a single piece of appearal until 08, and those were very VERY VERY few...he has the talent to do wild insane things, but can he pull of dressing a chic young man?? doubt it..ppl wrote KVA off because they dont want change or evolution, and that is what fashion is about...Slimanes look wasnt going to last forever, and actually, Van Assche brought a fresh new touch, thats why I liked him...he was very good! hedi is gone, so really look at Kris's work, it is beautiful!!
really? because every collection slimane did was exactly the same. it was great at first, but i was yawing at his last few collections, how many times can you be inspired by the same bad musicians? it got old very quickly. fashion is about change, and for some reason, ppl like you dont want that. i embrace evry form of change, and was glad to see slimane go, and i love kva! btw, where is slimane now? a photographer, which he is good at, but no collections...very interesting...
well, you can keep that thought. I believed that kris did some good work on or his own brand. it's totally his style. you know, always suit, shirt. its looks boring for me. I know someone like it. But for me, hedi mix some really creative in his work. we can't judge hedi for just because he is photographer now. maybe he is wait for chance of apprearance. you know at recently there's not much good show for mens wear. lets just see what gonna happen :)
You know I do love this collection, but the line has become somewhat of a disaster. Ever since Hedi left, the quality of the clothes and accessories has gone down a tremendous amount. The company I work for (Holt Renfrew) has decided to drop the line beginning with SS09. I doubt bringing in Balenciaga will fill in the void that Dior Homme will leave behind, but good quality clothes is so much better than clothes/shoes/etc that fall apart after one wear. 'Tis a damn shame really.
Yeah tell me about it dude. Unfortunately, I'm witness to a number of the quality issues with brand at the moment. I'm lucky nothing is wrong with the Lumiere du Nord boots I bought last season. I'm guessing the company can't afford to be selling defective product at these times especially. Hopefully we'll pick it up again for FW0910 because the collection does look really good. Far better than KVA's previous efforts for the brand, that for damned sure.
ur lucky to have balenciaga. lenci menswear startin with f/w 08/09 was AMAZING. its def a label thats pickin up traction with menswear buyers. droppin dior homme for s/s 09 was a good idea as most of the pieces look like rubbish.
very smart I agree. Now the house of B needs to pick up the pieces that were left in the catastrophe of fall. Hopefully Ghesquire and co. will listen :)
ive not liked dior homme since hedi left and i HAAAAATED wot kva has done with this label so far but this collection i like! i love tha shoes and the large funnel neck shirts. ill def be buyin a few dior homme pieces come this november.
I love the cowl neck shirts.I think Kris is really trying to veer away from the skinny...giving us equally stunning full and pleated too.progression...it's a good thing.
