@greekanadian Let me rephrase, because I understand that the physics enabling standard aircraft to fly would no longer work in space, where there is essentially no atmosphere.
I guess I mean why don't they make some sort of hybrid....an aircraft that can take off and fly normally, and high enough out of the atmosphere. Then when the physics fail, they activate whatever jets the craft also has to regain control once the standard wings/engines fail?
Spectacular and greatly enjoyed the music that accompanies the video :-)
Space is indeed the new frontier but it we're very far from actually living up there, or at least for a few of us to explore more of space--frustrating !
Sometimes I like to close my eyes and pretend I didn't flunk my way through high school, and that I went on to become a NASA astronaut like I dreamed about when I was a kid. Sometimes...
Space Station V should be @ L3 unless someone already has that parking spot...for docking and maneuvering procedures!

What we need is, Space Station V sitting out at one of the Lagrange points.

Now many degrees does the Orbiter rolls during the initial roll maneuver?

What I don't understand is, why don't they just make a space craft that can take off and fly like a regular airplane?
Building these rockets that take off straight up, using a huge amount of fuel in the process seems so inefficient.

best part starts around 6.30- rockets falling through the atmosphere and hit the water.

If private organizations dedicated to aerospace got even a fraction of what NASA does, we could be flying faster than light speed by now.

Have they tested sex in space yet? What happens to the sperm? Can they still make their destination, or do they start floating all over the cabin?

There hasn't been any recorded instance that I know of in the case of humans, I think they mated amphibians or fish or something though.

so much fuel wasted. like there is no other way of lifting objects up ..
zarkoasenov 2 years ago
i think, there is no other way... the space elevator is nearly impossible to build.
but they could really use the Ariane V, it wouldn't waste as much fuel as the space shuttle
R3DV1RUS 2 years ago
maybe the shuttle attached to a pressure resistant zeppelin would do the trick..
zarkoasenov 2 years ago
interesting idea... but the zeppelin would also need fuel and zeppelins are not safe enough.

This is awesome video. I can't wait for the Shuttle to be retired to the history books. This was a lot of diagnostic footage looking for damage.

Ask the NASA about that, they made the Video... I think, it had a better Resolution when it was uploaded by someone from the NASA.
