  • Can you pitch music with this software?

  • @agdfan3

    Yes.

Type "pitch" into the search box on my channel and watch video.

  • @TemporalParadox1

Thanks but before you told me I already found out how to do it xD I subscribed and liked! :3

  • @ilovecp4eva

    Cool :)

  • Please reply ` How do you make the "light" effect in the intro move?

  • @ilovecp4eva

I have some old tutorials on this topic.

Type "introduction" into the search box on my channel and watch "Temporal Paradox Introduction" video. The thumbnail shows lens effect.

  • thanks for the help sir. just bought Movie Studio 11 today. Trying to edit a wedding vid for a friend & this helped a great deal

  • @matthiasck

    Cool :)

  • great Video.

  • @mikedelgado8888

    Thanks :)

  • How do you use a Transition on a video instead of the text? You might have covered it, but I'll be honest, I skipped through...

  • @ImJaffaah

How much of school did you skip as well ?

Type "transition" into the search box on my channel and you might find something that can help you.

  • @TemporalParadox1 I haven't skipped any of school, I just don't click on peoples channels and type that stuff in. I look it up on the YouTube search and click whatever comes up there. No need to be rude.

  • @ImJaffaah

I wasn't trying to be rude - I was trying to be funny.

Because you admitted that you "skipped" through my tutorial instead of watching the whole tutorial, I thought you would understand my meaning.

    Thank you.

  • theres a problem by my esc dnt work to split a video :(

  • @MrPatrickbuit

    Press "S" for Split.

    Not the escape key.

  • by the way, i record with a kodak sport so the files are in high quality... i dont know if that makes a difference or not. This is all new to me.

  • Instead of gong through the whole thing... can you tell me how to separate a 4 minute band video from a 54 minute long set. Basically I want to make each song a chapter on a dvd . Something to that effect. How do I do it, and can it be done.?All the other editing functions i can do after I have separated them right?

  • Last Question. When u edit a video how do u upload it because it says it have to be backed up with a supported file.

  • Thankz but can you transfer the mp4 videos to m2ts?

  • @TehMeeka

Keep it simple - the more steps you try to invent, the more problems you will likely generate.

This is from the Hauppage website:

    Record formats:

There are three H.264 formats you can choose when recording a video:

.TS, which is a generic 'transport stream' compatible with many digital media players

.M2TS, which is compatible with the Sony Playstation3

.MP4, which is compatible with the XBox360

  • @TehMeeka

The .TS and .M2TS files are AVCHD compatible, and can be used to burn Blu-ray compatible disk recordings. These files can be burned onto a standard DVD+R or DVD+RW disk for playback in a Blu-ray disk player using the included Arcsoft TME Disk Create application. Approximately 2 hours of HD TV recorded at 5Mbits/sec can be put onto a standard DVD+R or DVD+RW disk.

  • .mp4

  • @TehMeeka

I your video was made with a Hauppage Screen Capture device, then please save your files to .m2ts instead.

The problem is that not all mp4's are the same.

An mp4 is actually a container for many possible video codecs - same software & devices use non-standard codecs which limit which devices can read the file.

Worse case scenario is to convert your Video into something else.

I don't know what else to tell you - I have given you the lot now.

  • Like 2011_12_31

  • @TehMeeka

This is the description for your video.

A file extension is .mp4, .wmv, .mpg,......

  • @TemporalParadox1 The video is like the date

  • I try to import a vid but it says Warning an error has occured while opening one or more files. What do i do?

  • @TehMeeka

*Make sure you have Apple Quicktime installed - you need this to play .mp4's in Vegas.

*Not every video codec in the Universe will work in Vegas - you may have to convert your video into something different.

*Make sure you press the Import Media Icon or selection, to Import Video.

*What is the file extension of the video that is producing this error?

  • @TehMeeka

    Supported File Formats

Opens: AAC, AA3, AIFF, AVI, AVCHD, BMP, CDA, FLAC, GIF, JPEG, MP3, MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-4, MVC, OGG, OMA, PCA, PNG, RealMedia®, QuickTime®, SND, SFA, W64, WAV, WDP, WMA, WMV

Saves: AAC, AC3, AA3, AIFF, AVC, AVI, BMP, FLAC, JPEG, LPEC, MP3, MPEG-2, MPEG-4, MVC, OGG, PCA, PNG, RealMedia®, TIFF, QuickTime, W64, WAV, WDP, WMA, WMV

  • is there any videos on youtube where you can cut some scenes out with this program?

  • @kijai9Y0

Press "S" for split on either side of what you want to cut out, and then delete the centre bit.

Next join them back together - easy.

  • Is there twixtor in Sony Vegas Movie?

  • @Theliam000

Twixtor is Twixter - nothing to do with Sony Vegas Movie Studio.

However, I am pretty sure it works "with" any version of Vegas.

The Twixtor website should list the compatibilty with different Video Editors.

  • @TemporalParadox1 no, twixtor only works with sony vegas 10 (Comes with it) and im pretty sure it also works with 11

  • @fuzzyrhino5

Twixtor does not come with Vegas Pro 10 or any other version of Vegas.

It is made by someone else and has to be bought separately.

  • How do you remove transittions?

  • @TheFrostMs

Right-click on top of the "Transition Space" on the timeline.

Then select "Transition Properties" - third from top of list.

Then press "green icon with red cross" (at top right corner) to delete it.

  • @TemporalParadox1 Thank you! Great video btw! It was really helpful!

  • is there a way to move the play button to the top like in the newer version?

  • @themichaelnuckles

Go to Options - Customize Toolbar

There you can add playback controls to the top toolbar.

  • just found your channel, loving it already! yay! thank you for the help!!

  • @tangledinwishes

    Happy to help :)

  • you sir are awesome thanks for the help :)

  • @thelamestshitever

    Cheers :)

  • @7PPM

    Classic !!!

Yes I am smiling - thanks for the great vibes :)

  • @7PPM

You can't delete anything from the Project Media Tab if it is on the timeline.

What you can do though is Create Media Bins.

Right click on Media Bins and create as many folders as you like - then you can drag stuff around to organise it, so that you only see certain media when that particular folder is highlighted.

  • Thank you SO SO much for this video. WMM wasn't working anymore so I got this program instead and it is beyond better! I was editing a Battle Field 3 videos and had no idea how to add text, transition or move multiple pieces of media at once and this video had it all! Thanks for sharing :)

  • @bigbear4228

    Glad I could help :)

  • What's the difference between the platinum version and the regular version of Vegas movie studio? I'm thinking of asking for one of them for Christmas. ;) thanks!

  • @iwannacellphone

I am making a new video right now which explains all the different versions, right through to Vegas Pro.

The only version of Vegas Movie Studio which I recommend is "Sony Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum 11 Production Suite" - it's worth the extra money, which I will explain in Video.

  • some how i click X on the screen and now i cant see nothing how do i bring the little screen back? or everything back?

  • @ttms6

I have a tutorial which should help you out with this very common problem.

Just type "lost" into the Search Box on my channel and watch the video.

  • thx m8 you helped me alot outxD

  • @Dropdude77

    No worries :)

I am making a well overdue update to this video very, very soon - to make it a bit shorter and livelier.

  • I couldn't concentrate on what you were saying 'cause I just ended up listening to your accent ^^

  • Ok.

I will try that. Will let you know how it goes:-)

  • Thx. The filename is cimg.avi. I used a Casio exilim Ex-G1 .

    Frank

  • @SalmonArmada

That explains everything - some camera manufacturers use their own codecs.

There are heaps of Media Converters you can use - maybe there is a converter with the Software program that came with your camera.

Convert it into an .mp4 or something like that, then import into Vegas.

Also, make sure you have Quicktime installed on your computer - you must do this so that Vegas can read Apple videos and mp4's.

  • Hi.

Great stuff!! I am new to this. I downloaded a 30 days free SV movie studios platinium 10. I got the file over and are starting to cut out piecec, but were are the sound?? The original sound did not follow??

  • @SalmonArmada

Do you mean that when you Imported your video onto the Timeline, the audio track is missing ?

If this is what you mean, then your are probably using a Video Codec that Sony Vegas does not support.

You will have to convert it into a usable codec first before importing into Vegas.

Here is the list of supported codecs:

AAC, AA3, AIFF, AVI, AVCHD, BMP, CDA, FLAC, GIF, JPEG, MP3, MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-4, MVC, OGG, OMA, PCA, PNG, RealMedia®, QuickTime®, SND, SFA, W64, WAV, WDP, WMA, WMV

  • What is that transition/effect called 0:14?

  • @HimexYukari

It's a New Blue Transition called Blow Apart.

It came with the Production Suite version of Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum 10 - I am not sure if it comes with version 11.

You can buy it from NewBLue as part of a larger collection.

  • I'm an amateur at this stuff. How can I cut a video into two and just save the two different files as avi so that they're the original size not some super huge file.

  • @wowleetomg

First thing, saving a Video in Vegas as an .avi is going to create a HUGE video file - not a good idea unless you have TeraBytes of storage - I never use this.

To cut a video in two - press "S" for split.

There are a couple of videos of mine that you should watch. Use the search box on my channel and type these words in one at a time to find each one.

#1 "loop" - you can learn how to select just one half to render at a time.

#2 "render" - all my rendering videos.

  • @wowleetomg

So when you render, find the tutorial which matches which version you are using and what video size - 1080p, 720p, 480p.....

If your video is 1080p, then I would select Sony AVC codec to render to and use a decent bit rate so you dont loose the original quality.

If you can tell me which version of Vegas you have and what frame size your video is, then I can point to the exact tutorial for you.

  • @TemporalParadox1 Hi, thanks for the quick response. I'm using Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum 10.0. My video is only 700 MB, the frame size is 624x352x12. When I try to save the files I get a very huge file like 70 GB, and when I try to save it to a smaller size the quality is terrible.

  • @wowleetomg

    Part 1:

As I said - DON'T use .avi - AVI is just a video container, meaning not all AVI's are the same.

Watch the first video I made on how to render 360p video - just the first bit on project properties.

Make sure you change the frame rate to match your original frame rate.

Now select your loop region for first clip.

Hit Render As - Save As Type=Sony AVC, Template=Internet 640x360

Select Custom - Make sure Frame Size=640x360.

Make sure frame rate is set right.

  • @wowleetomg

    Part 2:

Change bit rate to 4,000,000 or even higher - do experiments.

Audio Tab - make bit rate at least 192kbps

    Click OK

Make sure "render loop region" is selected and Press SAVE.

    That's it!

  • @TemporalParadox1 Thanks man!

  • You're the man! I'm not a Goldfish (Luckily)

  • @CKMusicScene

Ha Ha - that made me laugh.

I'm going to update this video very soon, and make it a lot shorter and snappier.

  • THX!! Really helpful, finally can go use this and say bye bye to windows movie maker!! =)

  • your voice puts me to sleep :(

  • Very informational, thank you

  • 12:08 for TRANSITIONS

  • Is there a limit with the trial? Because I've had mine for at least 30 days

  • @MaddZekrom999

    30 days.

  • Very interesting mate . I was trying to split a clip on a bigger screen though and couldn't do it ..( I clicked " open in trimmer " ) The scene appeared all right ( and bigger , beside the preview window ) but I still couldn't split/ trim it . I'm going to try your way

  • when i put any video on the timeline it is extremely laggy and the audio isn't synced with the video. Can someone please help me?

  • @Mindfreak16707

Have a very close look at ALL the tutorials on my channel - I have a stack of information about such things already posted.

  • @TemporalParadox1 lol noty im not gonna watch all your vids......

  • @Mindfreak16707

I didn't say watch them - just read the list.

  • @TemporalParadox1 could you please just give me the link to the video? I went through all of your videos and couldn't find anything that would help my situation.

  • If i insert a video i can only hear the sound

    can someone help me?

  • @FailsOf2011

Send me a private message and tell me exactly what type of video your are using?

Where did it come from? Type?

Which version of Vegas MS are you using?

Vegas needs Quicktime to play MP4 video.

Some video codecs will not play in Vegas like DivX or Xvid - these types need to be converted into a more standard video codec before placing in Vegas.

  • i have a 4 minute 40 second attention span :D

  • Great video, and not to be mean or anything but, your voice in this is hilarious.

  • @notlengthy

    Yes.

I am posting an updated version for this very, very soon - using my non-hilarious voice.

  • Hi, great video. How can I insert a clip to the beginning of my time line? If i do so the videos overlap....isn't there a function by which the video I'm inserting will push everything to the right, down the time line?

    Thanks!

  • @kokiwebs

    Turn ON "Auto-Ripple"

Top Toolbar - Options - Auto Ripple

Remember to turn it off when you are finished, otherwise you can make a big mess of your project.

  • This is soooo useful and really well made. Thanks :)

  • @christopherfrost

I am about to update this old video - I can't stand the sound of my own voice in this one.

The knowledge is still good though.

  • thanx!! really great help.

  • @keisankki

    :)

  • Dex?!?? Are you the guy who reviewed it on Amazon by any chance??:D

  • @MsFantasyArt

Yes - I am Dex from Amazon.

  • @TemporalParadox1 Awesome:)! Besides all the stuff that came inside of the Platinum, I also bought this version because you gave it such a good review!:D Thanks![:

  • @MsFantasyArt

    Cool :)

  • Thanx! A well done tutorial!

  • thank you so much

  • This video was a big big help thanks a lot ( you got a new Sub)

  • When I try to drag one of the transitions to my videoes nothing happens.. :(

  • @AwesomeSuicide

You can only drag& place Transitions between TWO overlapping pieces of video - you can't apply it to the whole video.

There is a technique where you can start a video with a transition.

Just type "transition" into the search box on my channel to find video.

  • Help My Transitions Have Dissapeared

  • @xiBubblezzzZv

Type "lost" into the search box on my channel and the answer will appear :)

  • @TemporalParadox1

    Thanks Man

  • thank you!!! :) and it wasn't boring, I'll be back :)

  • O my gosh thanks a lot! This helped so much!

  • helped alot thanks mate!!!!!!!!

  • I used to have all my videos on the side of vegas, wtf happened to that? I don't know how to get it back :(

  • @MrLaxdude89

A have a tutorial called "How to Find Lost Windows And Tabs..."

    Watch it.

  • Do you know some program to cut scenes from movies???

  • @stefan9334

You will have to get a DVD Ripping program first.

There are many different offerings, however I don't know of any free ones.

A good one is Wondershare DVD Ripper - you can download a free trial.

The program will rip the VOB files from the DVD and convert them into any format you like.

Then you can edit the converted video in Vegas easily.

Unfortunately Vegas doesn't support raw VOB files, so the conversion process is necessary.

  • Question- I have Vegas movie studio HD 10. I don't see any of the (about 12) icons where you clicked on "snapping"? Is that only in a different version? Pro version? Thanks. Very helpful video!

  • @musixmadness this is Sony Vegas Pro 10, none of the movie studio stuff youre talking about, :P

  • @musixmadness

You just need to customize your toolbar.

Top tool bar - Options - Customize Toolbar

  • Why doesnt this program have dodge in the compositing mode?

  • @DefineSeizure

That feature is only available in Vegas Pro.

  • @TemporalParadox1 K thanks.

  • speak up wtf........

  • @iNeViT4bL3

    turn your volume up wtf...........

  • How do you get that font for intro plz reply!

  • @oJoeo1

Neuropol Font - just google it.

There are heaps of websites where you can download free fonts.

Then just drag the folder into "Fonts"

    Computer - C-Drive - Windows - Fonts

Now it will show up in Vegas.

  • @TemporalParadox1 Thx maan, subed.

  • you sound like a golf anouncer

  • I have a question.Let's say i have a video clip of horses running by. Over that i want a video clip of horse legs running by, overlaying. How do i get that subtle overlay? I've tried so much, i just got my movie studio hd 10 installed a few hours ago, and am really really confused, especially on using the effects and what not. So i would love that question being answered(: Thanks! :D

  • @MuttsLuver1

#1 Slow down a bit and get familiar with the basics first, otherwise you'll go round in circles and get a headache.

#2 Put your main video on the VIDEO layer

Then put the horse legs on VIDEO OVERLAY layer above

Now place your mouse point on the top edge of the TOP video clip, press down and drag blue line down - this will make the clip see through.

You can do much more later by cropping the top video and blurring edges so that it blends better, but that is hard to explain now.

  • @TemporalParadox1 lol alright...just a step at a time. Thanks so much! I'll try in the morning when it's not 11:00 at night -_-

  • How come my one wont show the preview? PLZ REPLY! :)

  • @KimLuvsToSmile

Is this the first time you have ever used the program ?

Do you have the cursor on top of any video ?

  • @TemporalParadox1 Yes it is my first time lol

    cursor?

  • @KimLuvsToSmile

The BIG flashing line on the timeline, where you drag the videos to.

  • HELPPP! when i open my sony program, it doesnt have as many toolbar options that yurs have, how do i make the toolbar options all appear ??

  • @Chiffyzz

    Options - Customize Toolbar

  • 1:56 u say " press the escay? escape? wtf do u say?

  • @anymeithor

Press the "S" key for "Split"

  • really good good job

  • how'd u work that transission in the beginning? when like millions of small quear boxes flew forward

  • @MinniHowl

It is a NewBlue Transition Fx called 3D Checkboard.

Only the Vegas Movie Studio Production Suite comes packaged with NewBlue Fx and Transitions.

And you can also buy them direct from NewBlue.

  • @NoNameFF2010

    From your Computer ?

  • hey how do you tell the software to put your videos in slow mo

  • @jiberish133

New video just uploaded which will answer your question.

  • Hey man,i've been watching your vids and they are awesome! But one question...how i can merge splitted videos?I know i can drag them, but how to make them look like theyre filmed in one shot in timeline?Because my camera is recording 4:3,and i dont want to do 16:9 fix for every single split i've done in video,i want to make my whole video 16:9?Thanks,WakeVajZet.

  • @WaKeVajZet

What do you mean by "splitted" videos?

A split video is a video that has been cut in half.

You don't have to overlap pieces - you can just butt them side by side.

If your camera is recording is recording in 4:3 and want to convert it to 16:9, just use Event Pan/Crop - open drop down box at the top and select 16:9 to zoom in. If you do this before splitting, it will apply 16:9 to all pieces after splitting.

  • @TemporalParadox1 By split videos (not splitted, sorry my mistake in grammar) i mean ones that are "cut" by S tool.I've figured it out,but thanks for comment :)

  • @SuperGirl440

If you have the Production Suite version, you will have three programs:

Vegas Movie Studio, DVD Architect and Sound Forge Audio Studio

also, you will have NewBlue Transitions and Fx in the Tabbed Windows.

  • @SuperGirl440

It is a stripped down, easier to use version of Vegas Pro.

Make sure you get the Production Suite version - heaps of useful extras.

  • Bloody superb. Thank you sir!

  • @TomHoole

    Your welcome :)

  • This was recorded pretty late in the night eh? You seem tired ;)

  • @Markthegreatable

From memory, I did about ten takes to try and get this right - it was exhausting.

Hopefully, I don't sound so blah in my newer tutorials.

It takes a lot of concentration to make these videos, always learning how to stay conscious of what I sound like.

  • @TemporalParadox1 Well, it turned out good and it has helped me a lot :)

Take a look at my videos if you'd like to see what you've learned me :)

  • you are freaking amazing thank you so much

  • @19Mosk

    No worries Man.

  • @HersheyLove8

From the middle of nowhere in Australia.

    Peace :)

  • Bloody awesome video!

I bought this software 2days ago and your vids are exactly what I need.

I know what I'm doing now for the rest of the weekend now... shooting and editing!!

  • @subliminalvibes

    All the best :)

  • Right oh bucko, got a few words.

  • How Can I Make Some Parts Slow Motion??

  • @FlashSnipers1 Hold control and drag the end of the clip.

  • when you render it dose it make the file size small

  • @HurricaneGaming2011

It all depends on what Render Settings you choose.

You can set it to compress the video, or set to extremely high quality and loose nothing at all.

  • @TemporalParadox1 so if you set it to like i duno but one of the low ones it will not lose quality and saty like 720p and be a smaller file size

  • @HurricaneGaming2011

Well if you are talking about 720p HD, you can change the bit rate (3-8Mbps).

A low bit rate = lower quality

A higher bit rate = higher quality

The quality of the original source video. has the greatest bearing on the look of the rendered video.

  • @TemporalParadox1 so yer it will make it small

  • can i get this program for free i mean download it and use crack or something :\ ?

  • @OnePieceNarutoFanxD

Anyone can download the free 30 day trial from Sony Creative Software.

If you want a crack, you will have to find a dealer.

  • @TemporalParadox1 can i make moving logo ,word etc. like the photoshop?

  • @OnePieceNarutoFanxD

Watch my videos on "animating text & text movement".

You can make anything you want, move around the screen by using something called "keyframes".
