I worked for Yamaha Music in Australia and met Claude once. What an inspiring guy. How did he pass away. We also lost a great Electone player, Ray Thornley, a few years ago who played this very piece of music. Same arranement I think. If anyone has info please let me know
I was the Portable Keyboard/Clavinova Product Specialist at Yamaha Canada when Claude was the Electone PS. I remember when he passed away - HUGE shock to everyone at the company. I had to run the '92 Festival and introduce the EL-90 after that. Huge loss to the Electone and music world with his untimely death - I'm sure he influenced a number of junior organists across Canada with his unmatched ability to make the Electones sound like anything he wanted them to!
Wow... what memories this brings back. That EXACT Electone (not just the same model, the EXACT ONE in this video) resides in my home now. Claude's family sold it to me after he died.
That's very cool actually. I competed in the Canadian Nationals in 87 and 88. Funny how that the HX-1 cost $32,000 in 1987 and now people are selling them on Ebay for under $1000. Did you not play the same arrangement back in 93?
Did the HX-1 realy cost $32,000 back then its funny i got it yesterday for $600 for my Husband & it right next to my Clavinova CVP-307. When he is playing music on his new Electone because he is a Organist im at my Clavinova Playing with him. We are still learning how to work it.
Unfortunately, or fortunately for those who enjoy playing them, the home organ market completely dried up in North America. You can buy these once ridiculously expensive machines for peanuts these days. $600 is a good price for an HX-1.
Very close to it. I made a few slight twists to it, and when I went to Singapore, I completely re-wrote my own arrangement of various themes from the movie and used the ELX1 for that.
I met Mr. Dupras long time ago for a few times! He was an amazing Performer!!! He was the master of ceremony at one of the YEF in Edmonton back in 1998! I was there that year too!!!
I read it in the introduction to this piece. I hope it is untrue, but in the introduction it said, the late Claude Dupras. I hope someone made a mistake.
I'm related to Claude, He was my Dad's cuzzin :P i play piano and keyboards too

Gosh, this brings back a lot of memories. I was there in the auditorium when Claude played this. Wow.
In fact, I still have the "Claude Dupras Distringuished Performance Award" someone in a closet in my parent's house.
He was my hero back when I was ... well, let's not go there.
Suffice to say it's so good to have found him again on YouTube.

I bet nobody can do this these days, even with current technology. Or maybe they can. Prove it!
This theme rocks.

The score has some nice parts to it I forgot. Pretty nice multitimbral work; impressive both performance-wise and technology-wise.
This keyboard made a (silent) cameo in Running Man.

Nice, but when I went to buy one of this series, I left again without taking it home. I'm happy with my EL-90.

it was good but I would the execution on el-90. I've played it and it rocks!!!

HX-1 is in a different league than the EL-90. The HX had a 16-operator FM synthesis system that to this day sounds amazing.

Are there any Wurlitzer theater organ patches that i can buy from anybody for the HX-1.
I have it set like a Hammond B3 but i wanted to know if there are theater organ sounds to.
