@NeruKissu I think there is every reason to compare korean pop to japanese pop, just as we compare english pop to american pop and french pop. We can only tell what has changed in history by comparing music across time. Pop music is a powerful enforcer of ideology and therefore needs to be analyzed. Korean pop these days often tries to accommodate japanese tastes, so therefore the comparison is ok.
this is also the song and video that allowed Mari Yaguchi to shine through to the front of the group, especially since she was given the last solo at the end of the song and in the video the shot focused on her close up. She may have already been given the spotlight in Tanpopo but she was still mainly kept in the back of Morning Musume until this song.
@cccEngineer the image of this group has always been less provocative and PG than korean groups. I find that alot of j-pop girl groups are like that. It's like comparing UK girls groups with American girl groups. UK girls groups cover their body parts more and wear less revealing outfits than American girl groups.

I know there were some other videos that had some awesome degree of creativity, but none of them seem to compare to this. The background, style, image and fashion. The production quality of those videos was more mediocre compared to this video. This video was filmed entirely infront of a blue or green screen, something was did not done with the previous videos. It is clear that team Tsunku was going for an very different image in promoting the group with Maki Got in it. I hope you understand what I mean.

Why do people keep mentioning 2NE1 on Morning Musume videos? Stupid Kpop being the new flavour of the month. Morning Musume were doing the idol group long before 2NE1 or Girls Generation ever existed.

don't compare the early momusu generations to 2NE1, 2NE1 are new, compare old school girl groups, like Baby VOX, S.E.S and Fin.K.L, they all released happy songs like this, yeah JPop are not the only one, KPop too.

Why compare 2NE1 to Morning Musume? MoMusu has been around since 1997 - long before 2NE1 even started training. How old was Minzy then? Like, 3. And this song was released in 1999. I'm a a 2NE1 fan too. In fact, I've been a fan of Sandara Park even before she was known in Korea. But there really is no need to compare two groups that are far from being common. MoMusu has talent, they would not have been able to become as big as they are without that. Research before saying anything.
@scastleq this group has been around for years, they are real artist. 2ne1 doesnt even reach the bottom of their feet. i like 2ne1 too but pls do not compare.2ne1 is not at the level to be compared to momusu. sandara is in my opinion the prettiest member of 2ne1 but talent is something she does not have.she is just the face of the group , the ones wit talent are cl nd minzy they can do it all ^_^ , nd bom all she can do is sing. i still luv 2ne1 though dont get me wrong ,their songs are great.

I love jpop but also am a fan of Kpop (snsd, suju, WG, 4minute) but to say Morning Musume has no talent? This is coming from people who know hardly anything about Morning Musume. This song is a greta classic of the late 90s, every member of Morning Musume has a talent and almost all of them have great vocals. Why compare 2NE1 to Morning Musume? MoMusu has been around since 1997 - long before 2NE1 even started training. How old was Minzy then? Like, 3. And this song was released in 1999. I'm a a 2NE1 fan too. In fact, I've been a fan of Sandara Park even before she was known in Korea. But there really is no need to compare two groups that are far from being common. MoMusu has talent, they would not have been able to become as big as they are without that. Research before saying anything.
