  • who control the media?

they are more dangerous than terrorist! coz media reach you wherever you are!

  • THANK YOU FOR MAKING THIS!

  • i think women are more destructive to each other and themselves, regardless of what's in the media. women will compare themselves to other girls anyways! i think it's ridiculous that it's supposedly the evil men's fault. "when will it be enough?" is right! if a woman was elected president this upcoming election, would this argument fall to the wayside? if there were more women than men in the congress, the argument would simply flip, it wouldn't be that all is right in the world becausewomenrule

  • the media exploits, demeans, and criticizes men and women alike, women rights activists are saying that the media needs to change in order for women to have more self confidence why are women relying on the media to teach young girls about self image and confidence? people want to see beautiful people in advertisments. simple as that. and there are a lot of men out there who don't objectify women for their body's only, intelligence and drive is attractive.

  • @paradigmdashed Beautiful people in adverts, not sex kittens!

  • I see that interview of Sarah Palin as a perfect opportunity for change. Had she responded by saying "STOP! That is a demeaning question. It demeans you as well as me, as it is blatantly sexist." Can you imagine the headlines? Sarah Palin Says No to Breast Question, Sarah Palin calls Breast Implant Question Sexist! How can you go wrong? It can't be spun in a negative light! Women in power need to stand up and say NO! Why is it NOT OK to make racist comments, but fine if you make sexist ones?

  • @F5bobcat NO is the most powerful word in the world, yet women are taught not to say it in order to be "the good girl". I hate it!

  • So are we to believe there is something amiss when a woman chooses to be beautiful? I don't think this is anything new...males are compelled by instinct just as women are. A smart woman can be powerful, a physically beautiful woman can be powerful, and a smart, beautiful woman can be twice as powerful. We're not going to change the instinctual impulses that women can create, we can only change the way we think of them and that's normally a reflection of their own self-respect.

  • FABULOUS

  • im a feminist but i dont completely agree with this video... women are objectified by other women majority of the time. So while there is some truth on this video, there is also truth on women being their own enemy

  • As a man let me say that, there are those of us who inspite of our inclusion in the patriarchy stand entirely and unequivocally stand with you. Every time you laugh at that joke or buy that magazine you prove yourself no better than the sex-offender down the street!

  • @SeaGreenMagnolia I aprecciate that you acknowledge the existing issues with media portrayal of women, but isn't there still a difference between assault and buying a magazine? Ofc I do know how especially the rape jokes can contribute to rape myths and victim blaming, but comitting the actual crime is something else. Still, those who contribute to victim blaming and rape myths are also contributing to the suffering of the rape victims.

  • Unfortunately true...the woman has lost its true value..Women became the coveted object of men..

  • Mis-Representation may be the most ironic but appropriate title for this film.

Are the following names recognizable? Elio Fiorucci, John Galliano, Annie Leibovitz, Vidal Sasson, Perry Ellis, Calvin Klein, Mel Zeigler, Tom Ford,Pasolini, Dolce &Gabbana, Versace,Lauren, Halston, Guccio Gucci, Christian Dior, Mapplethorpe, Armani,Yves Saint Laurant, Marc Jacobs- It seems the entertainment/fashion/arts industry has an key internal conflict and more than a little in-house cleaning to do

  • All this whining is so pathetic. Woman or men that think this way are idiots...

  • @EpicRandomDude If you were treated the way the media treats women, and you spoke out about it, would you consider that whining?

  • @SuperZanzabar Sincerely and utterly Yes.

  • People say that the qualified people should be at the top. That we shouldn't vote on people because of their sex. Aren't we doing that already? Because I have a hard time believing that women are less capable than men.

  • Please..........Michele Obama is telling kids it's bad to be fat. Propaganda comes from everywhere! Media has been run by old men who still want to look at Twiggy. I hope we stop with the body image judges from the White House to the playground!

  • @1958vintage1

    it's good to be fat?

  • @blackops1378 but no. This is just another fine example of how women are looked upon. We aren't any more catty than males are.

  • @blackops1378 That is clever. Way to miss the point.

  • @blackops1378 says the guy who can't even spell dumb.

  • @blackops1378 are you noticing the various beautiful, confident and smart ladies who were making this movie, speaking in this movie, contributing to it. If you really think jealousy caused this movie, I pity your ignorance.

  • @PaperGirlBurning I don't know. I'm sure you think you already know the answers to those questions, but since it's a joke, it won't be taken as a serious contribution to the topic.

  • We can stop this. It starts with the girls, show them a different way. Show them women who respect other women. Show them we are more than the sum of our body. It is up to us to be the change we want to see. Stop buying the clothing, the make up, stop watching the shows that demean women. We have to be the change we want to see...that is what this is all about.

  • You can't change the media's usage of violence and sexuality until these images stop selling. Which, likely, will never happen.

  • 2:03 is shocking

  • @bubblyparadis indeed... :/ makes me wonder why this guy even became a journalist in the first place :/

  • Subscribe to Tom Tom Magazine: A Magazine About Female Drummers and become a part of the movement.

  • We've got a lot of work to do. Unfortunately lots of it is combating garbage. Who decides what is aired, printed? Not nearly enough women.

  • This Sundance "official selection" didn't do so well. Maybe it's because it portrays an unflattering picture of women as mindless consumers who are controlled by "the media" (which is feminist-speak for "men"). Women are 51% of the population and the overwhelming majority of voters in the USA. So if congress is (only?) 17% women, who's fault is that? The film seems to blame men for women's choices. It's outrageous, academically dishonest, and treats women like children who need to be coddled.

  • @CJC1295DAC congress is only 17% women because many younger people don't vote, male and female. Also, if you haven't noticed, there aren't many women that run to begin with? What are we supposed to overcome our lack of respect as women- by just voting for a woman just because she's a woman? Isn't that missing the point here? You vote for someone because they're capable, and this movie is merely trying to speak and say that any and all women are most certainly capable!

  • @delicatethings so what you are saying is that.... women are less capable? That is bullshit.

  • @ittakesnogenius yep thats what he's saying and he is damn right

  • @iccuntwmnisw poor guy, needing to belittle other people so that you/he can feel at least better than someone....

    pathetic.
