@mrbluto3 yeah that was a classic moment from don owen the great portland promoter. he could barely remember names much less the weight or where someone was from...
I guess that Carl Styles did move from Alabama to compete in the Northwest in 1988. Saw him on World Championship Wrestling in 1986 (TBS in Atlanta) when he was sporting a goatee, but he must have shaved it off in 1987 or 1988. Struggled the first few minutes of this match, but rebounded dramatically and won the match with the full nelson submission! Great that he won a TV title up there in 1988!
Don Owen was never really good at the mic. He tended to forget names too. He always screwed up on Fidel Cortez's name and after a few stutters he'd finally say " The Cuban!". RIP Don Owen
I think this might be a different Abudda Dein. I dont remember him ever wrestling anywhere else but in Peurto Rico's WWC with that name. All over the Northeast he useed the name Abbudah Singh.
@wolverine6511 I think this is Rocky Iaukea, not Balls Manoney. He's King Curtis' son (the real one, not the guy who wrestled under the name Prince Iaukea).
@qcmanager They called him "the chairman of the board", but they were disciples of Abbudadein (that's the spiritual advisor whom Kevin Sullivan would chew on betel nut with atop the 7th step).
God that was horrible from the ring announcer down to the match.

I'm surprised Styles didn't get a shot in the WWF with Vince's hard-on for muscle guys.

You're spot on, I'm researching this guy for a game mod and tracked him down to here. He's King Curtis's son, retired in '96.
