The one aspect of 'cell phone' technology the video doesn't address, is the use of Bluetooth. Someone using a Bluetooth, is no more aware than someone holding a cell phone in their hand(or it sitting in a cradle). They are also equally distracted from paying attention the road.

I generally try to just ignore the negative comments as well as the vulgar ones and chaulk those up to where they come from, the IQ level and command of the English language. I personally feel that everyone should be mandated to pass a Driver Ed Class every 6-8 years as well as a drug test.

Why don't some phone company put an answerphone message on their mobiles to the effect that the person on the other end of the phone is driving and can't answer the phone right now, and the mobile ringtone says the same thing to the driver? Trouble is the driver has to put it in that mode when they get in the car.

While changing the station, eating, & drinking are also forms of distraction, they don't have a 23% increased rate of accidents. Despite that, people shouldn't be distracted while driving. I use a remote to change my station without taking my eyes off the road, and I don't eat things that take my hands off the wheel for long. I only drink with a straw which is not nearly as distracting as drinking without one.

You only THINK you haven't nearly caused an accident because your mind is automatically filtering out stuff that is vital to driving safely, thus you have no way of remembering it.

This has been illustrated several times using driving simulators with drivers using HANDS FREE cell phones. They failed very simple tests with questions about the simulation they had just completed. Such simple and IMPORTANT things like knowing they had driven past a fire truck on the shoulder behind a car fire!

I think the point Vinnie is trying to make is that if you're going to drive then drive. Put down your damn cellphones, stop texting your friends, and stop smearing the make up on with a paint brush.
