  • they got soaked, thats for sure, but to say they were nearly washed away is a bit of a stretch.

  • Well in fact 'porth' actually means cove, harbour or a port, it's cornish not olde English.

Another common one in Cornwall is 'Penn' which means headland like Penzance, Pensans.

Ever heard of being helpful? When he asked where's Porth? presumably he meant where in cornwall.

  • @cheyennebritbrat he means Portsmouth cornwall

  • More storm thickies.

  • I'm not really sure? But still Porth beach is nice. Nice vid!

  • Sorry, Porth is on the outskirts of Newquay and Porth beach is one of Newquays beaches.

  • So why is it called Porth and not Newquay? And who cares? Excellent video!

  • I think it used to be a Port, that's why it's called Porth, because, Porth stands for Port. I heard it used be Newquay's main Port.

  • Porth is in Newquay by the way.

  • Porth is next to to Newquay, not in it.

  • Porth is part of Newquay - a district of the town.

  • So why is it called Porth and not Newquay?

  • The same way that Treloggan and Treninnick are part of Newquay. They are areas of Newquay. I was only trying to inform people where Porth is.

  • @rick928 Maybe it's called porth because it means cove in Cornish!

  • Looll i've had that happen to me there before, not on the bridge tho on one of the random sticky out bitss it was fuck scary lol i was with some of myy mates and some man whistled so we looked and then got hit by the wave :P luckily it wasnt that powerfulll but it was huuugee :P

  • Yes it was the 10th of March storm.

  • I heard that storm was a bad one!

  • I stood on top of the headland at 'Porth' that day, I can honestly say I have never known wind like it! To see the sea like it was that day was something else!

  • Yeah, I heard it was a massive Atlantic storm and winds got up to 80mph and waves reached up to 35ft. Awsome vid though mate!

  • oops, bet they had to change their pants when they got home!

  • awesome

  • this is way cool i would have never thought that in my life i would see a wave go over that bridge in between that bridge at Porth in cornwall it was cool.

  • I went back the next day and a bigger wave must have hit the bridge in the night as it was damaged! (big piece of wood had been removed)

  • I cant blive that at porth beach the waves would come over that i wiuld have never thought that would happen ever in my life it was way cool.

  • hahahaha!!
