Absolutely precious video! Thank you so much for sharing. This must have been an incredible experience. I interacted with belugas in SeaWorld Orlando, but did not enter the water with them. I would have absolutely loved to have done that spinning dance you did with the whale! Wonderful video!!
I ended up doing the Beluga Interaction, mainly because it looked to be the less crowded of the two, and I wanted as much one-on-one time with the animal as possible. It was amazing! I had a great time and can't wait to do it again someday.
I love beluga whales and sea lions. They are 1 of my favorite marine animals. They are the friendliest and the most gentle creatures. This inspires me to be an animal doctor for years.
I have to choose between these two events, I only have money for one in the budget. Can you tell me which you would choose if you could only do one? I can't decide!!
@swishersweetie2000 I loved both interactions very much... the Sea Lions are fun and the Beluga Whales are so large and gentle.... of course you spend more time in the water with the Belugas since they can't come out... so that might be a determining factor for you.... but I would be hard pressed to say one interaction was better than the other.... both are fabulous opportunities to get up close and personal with some very special animals... let me know which one you decide to do.... have fun!
@peejaybee3 in what way is this fake? go check out the animal interactions section of seaworld's website, the opportunity to play with belugas and sea lions is very real.
I would love to do this. Beluga's are my favorite sea animals. When we go here again i'm definatly going to sign up for the beluga interaction and the trainer for a day. this is so cute.

Wow, this video actually made me cry. I would love to do something like that. Thank you for posting this. I can see how this would be a once in a lifetime experience.
The trainers train these animals by isolating them and withdrawing food. As an orca is a socailble animal, it is like physical torture.
The high levels of chlorine damage the orcas skin. the pH in the water is completely different, causing numerous skin infections in Orcas and dolphins. These orcas are hidden from the public. In one marine park, dolphin's skin even started to peel off.

Most of the orcas in captivity were taken from the wild. Keiko died, but not straight away when he was released. anyway, i bet ten seconds being alive as a free orca would be better than a lifetime of inprisonment in seaworld. Seaworld is a horrible company, it supports drive hunts. Did you know that an orca can live up to 90 years in the wild? In captivity, they rarely live for more than 10 years.

I'm not trying to be rude or say your wrong or anytrhing like that, i'm just stating my view. Before people knew better they were taking animals from the wild into captivity, but since then they don't usually get them from the wild because the animals breed. The animals that are gotten from the wild are usually the ones who they are rehabilitating, and they only keep those if they know that they can't make it in the wild. I do respect the fact that everyone has different opinions.
Who is training who: The human - that is merely getting the sea lion to move its ass, or the sea lion - which in turn is getting a human to feed it copious amounts of fresh fish?
i am 7, love is not cruelty. they are loveing eachother, i love all whales every shape and size i wish i could be loved by any whale to, why is it ok to love a cat or dog but not a whale. they are just as we are because they are mammels and mammels are us so this is what makes us all together and if we could just love eachother we could all be a big family. someday i wishil could get to meet a whale in real life and even maybe train one which means to interact with on e
If most of these were set free, they would die because they were hurt when the team of Sea World found them or because they were raised in captivity or because they have become so dependant on getting fed every day and not having to hunt for their food.
for one thing..to whoever said that they do unnatrual things..is wrong..all of the animals "tricks" are natural behaviors that the animals do.they are just taought to do them on command..these "tricks" are also taught to the whales and other animals to help with medical exams..for me these animals are beautiful.and deserve ever ounce of respect
um really? cuz i work with reabilitating sea lions to be sent back to the wild and i have never seen one jump from flipper to flipper like that or pull things by its rear flippers or any other of these "tricks" Also yes we do send about one or two animals a year to an aquarium because they can not be realeased i still think that there home is in the wild.
I don't think sea world is cruel, I just believe making the animals do "unnatural" things is stupid. From what I've seen they treat the animals with respect which is nice but still, the animals would be a lot happier if left in their natural habitats... (for the ones that were plucked from the wild and not born in captivity)
Dolphines are very sociable and like to be around people but what about other sea animals? It is not very natural fo rthem to be kept in those places when they have to go and live in the occeans!
I did the sea lion interaction at the zoo here in Milwaukee, it was soo much fun, more fun than the beluga program, it was just me, my mom and 2 other people, as opposed to the beluga interaction, where it was packed! about 25 people just participating in the water, and about another 20 observers.
haha cuz obviously the owner of this video has "supported" it, i have, and a lot of the people viewing this video have "supported" the cruel industry themselves, and many others are planning on doing it. i was just making fun of dolejsi, i'm sick of PETA activists like him/her bashing things like this (interaction programs).
Sigh, well when I said "too late!" in regards to dolejsi25 saying not to support such a cruel industry (animal interactions), what I meant was that many people watching this video have either participated in one themselves, or are planning on doing so, making dolejsi25's comment useless, as no one here really cares. I'm sick of PETA animal liberation psychos who post comments like that (which are UNTRUE) so that's why i said what i did, in hopes of pissing dolejsi25 off, lol. Nevermind.
I'm planning to go to San Antonio's SeaWorld (that's the only one that offers these programs, right? or no?) Cuz I went to the one in Orlando, and they didn't offer these programs (I did the dolphin one instead next door at Discovery Cove, and no swimming skill was required). I think I'm more likely to go for the sea lion program, though (had enough of whales! Haha).
It's just the thing is...I CAN swim, but I just start wheezing (athsma) like hell when I do (symptoms randomly started this year). So my REAL question is whether I could "survive" through these sessions, cuz it looks like a lot of physical activity is taken place (in this video, at least). Can you give me the details of what you did?
OK! well, we stood up on the side step more than actually getting in. our instructer made us watch a video, then we had to get in wet suits,(very tight) and then she introduced us to the whales. there names were Luna, and Crissie. we did one at a time. and she showed us all these signs of what to do with the whales. they are so gentle, and i bet that you won't wheeze.
Nope. They have you stand on a small platform that's no deeper than 3 feet or so. the dropoff is 16 feet deep for the belugas, but no, you really don't need to know how to swim at all. just feel comfortable enough to stand in it.
Wow amazing video you're Seals are cool and all but Baluga whales THOSE ARE COOL great video and guys do we have to do this whole blah blah captivite bullshit I hate seaworld my self but come on this is a good video enjoy it.
-PLEASE DON'T READ THIS you will die in seven days if you don't post this comment on at least 10 other videos in the next hour, if you do tomorow will be the best day of your life
Ohh my gosh that's so cool! I'm going to be able to participate in the beluga whale interaction program on the 26th of this month at the Sea World in San Antonio, I can't wait!! You've shown me what I can all look forward to! I'm sure i'll post videos of it afterwards lol
Better to be in captivity and teaching people about themselves so they can be concerned about the ones that are free then to have all of them free and people not know much except what they see on animal planet. This is a great way to educate people on what they're losing in the wild.
they are happy thats all that matters if they didnt capture some...they would probably be extinct...and another good thing is...if they didnt we wouldnt know how to perserve their species...we would kill them all...i think it is very fair...
It's better than seeing their heads plastered on whales, being eaten as sushi, etc and having them bleed to death so they taste better. At least captivity saves them from such horrible deaths.
a Beluga. in a tank. just about scrapes the bottom, doesn't it? its like telling a brick wall that it's only there to hold the house up, when will these people learn?!? they-don't-belong-in-tanks. end of.
did you know that some animals even killed themselves? People should think about captivity for animals when other animals killed themselves. Also did you know that the Miami Sea aquarium is a really bad place for animals? Yous hould watch some videos about it
but i feel sorry for her in that puny tank sufering and the trainers not understanding her feelings. Also its sad that you see a good friend of yours commiting suicide leaving you behind
that tank is for performance only, the tank they live in is fairly deep. also only the portion in front of the stage is shallow. the rest is actually pretty deep, or else there aren't enough room for jumps.
It doesn't matter how nice the tanks are; they are still tanks. The belugas are not free. They are in captivity. They cannot choose thier mates or stay with their families. They have do tricks... lots and lots of tricks everyday with no pay.. in a tank. Plus more than half of the captive beluga population was captured from the wild
moron, the animals will NOT perform unless they get fish for EVERY trick they do, thats the only way to pay them, they get well paid... their tanks are massive and have no concept of "captivity"
First, if ur so smart, tell me how anyone can force a 2,000 lb sea mammal to do ANYTHING, and their "pay" is loads of A-quality fish. And they do stay with their families often times, there r many belugas at the San Antonio Seaworld that are mother and daughter to each other, etc. You probably wont even see my comment though, you're so big on yourself you don't even bother to read peoples comments that're replying to you, since to you, everyone else is always wrong on the subject of captivity.
Actually, I do indeed read all comments, thanks very much. While you cannot physically beat a sea lion into doing a trick (in the United States any ways) there are other methods. Animals are often deprived of companionship for long periods of time. They become rather desperate and look to humans for companionship. They are more willing to perform, thus forming some sort of human-animal bond.
I don't know where you get your other facts but I do know that your sea lion companionship deprivation is a bunch of BS. I used to work full time with the sea lions and seal at the Milwaukee County Zoo and I guarantee you if one of the sea lions refused to do a trick, the last thing we would do is deprive them of companionship. 99% of the time they would be overly excited and eager to do tricks, continued..
and in the very, very rare instances when they wouldn't perform, we would NEVER punish them whatsoever, especially in the ways you mentioned. We simply wouldn't acknowledge their mistakes and give them their space. I forgot to mention that many of the sea lions at our zoo that have been mothers are still with their children, and NONE are captured from the wild.
NONE of them are captured from the wild?! They are never separated from their families??! While the MIlwaukee Zoo may not have done that while you were there, that does not mean the world's thousands of other zoos, parks, and aquariums don't.
While i of course can't speak for all of the other zoos and aquariums out there (and didn't mean for my original statement to come off that way), my main point that i meant was that despite your statements, not ALL sea lion facilities treat their sea lions that way (as i was referring to the milwaukee county zoo).
The majority of seaworld's animals are bred in captivity, seaworld does have conservation that allows them to take care of sick and injured animals that are wild and return them to the wild when they are healthy. Some animals, however, are life threateningly sick and need daily medication or the injuries they sustained would not allow them to survive in the wild and thus are introduced into the seaworld program but that is only in the most extreme cases. Almost all the animals were born in park.

Please search youtube for "Killerwhale at Seaworld - Backstage at Seaworld San Diego" and about midway thru the video, head orca trainer Jen Fuhs of SWC says how food keeps animals motivated. Captivity is basically just as the word sounds - dark and harsh. It's imprisonment. It's not like having a pet dog at your house. Dogs are domestic while animals like orcas and sea lions aren't.
omg thank you! its just like dogs.. well sorta. lol. what im trying to say is like if someone goes to your house and you have a dog, your dog might bark at them or not like them but its just cuz they arnt familiar with them...

Who is training who: The human - that is merely getting the sea lion to move its ass, or the sea lion - which in turn is getting a human to feed it copious amounts of fresh fish?

belugas are so cute!! are they really whales or are they dolphins like orcas are?
Goblet0fire 4 years ago
i am 7, love is not cruelty. they are loveing eachother, i love all whales every shape and size i wish i could be loved by any whale to, why is it ok to love a cat or dog but not a whale. they are just as we are because they are mammels and mammels are us so this is what makes us all together and if we could just love eachother we could all be a big family. someday i wishil could get to meet a whale in real life and even maybe train one which means to interact with on e

ANIMAL CAPTIVITY IS CRUEL
erin2321989 4 years ago
At most places like this one,the animals are rescued and cant be releases back to the ocean.
numeroUNOJoBrofan 4 years ago 3
I agree! Let them be free!
SaveTheWhales369 4 years ago
If most of these were set free, they would die because they were hurt when the team of Sea World found them or because they were raised in captivity or because they have become so dependant on getting fed every day and not having to hunt for their food.
HannGin 4 years ago 4
I cannot beieve the sea lion is smiling at 3:03! That must have been very very fun. You are SUPER lucky!
numeroUNOJoBrofan 4 years ago
for one thing..to whoever said that they do unnatrual things..is wrong..all of the animals "tricks" are natural behaviors that the animals do.they are just taought to do them on command..these "tricks" are also taught to the whales and other animals to help with medical exams..for me these animals are beautiful.and deserve ever ounce of respect
afccapt07 4 years ago 3
This Is totaly TRUE. They do these things in the wild.
numeroUNOJoBrofan 4 years ago
um really? cuz i work with reabilitating sea lions to be sent back to the wild and i have never seen one jump from flipper to flipper like that or pull things by its rear flippers or any other of these "tricks" Also yes we do send about one or two animals a year to an aquarium because they can not be realeased i still think that there home is in the wild.
vamplock5 4 years ago
wow kinda hard to believe that i only have to drive for 2 hours just to see a beluga whale
guy4rm36109 4 years ago
I don't think sea world is cruel, I just believe making the animals do "unnatural" things is stupid. From what I've seen they treat the animals with respect which is nice but still, the animals would be a lot happier if left in their natural habitats... (for the ones that were plucked from the wild and not born in captivity)
Sweltering 4 years ago
Dolphines are very sociable and like to be around people but what about other sea animals? It is not very natural fo rthem to be kept in those places when they have to go and live in the occeans!
dmokri 4 years ago
Those animals are very lucky bacause they were either rescued or born there from their rescued parents.
numeroUNOJoBrofan 4 years ago
I did the sea lion interaction at the zoo here in Milwaukee, it was soo much fun, more fun than the beluga program, it was just me, my mom and 2 other people, as opposed to the beluga interaction, where it was packed! about 25 people just participating in the water, and about another 20 observers.

Animals are meant to be free, not doing tricks for humans in small tanks
dolejsi25 4 years ago
They are also meant to live, not to be slaughtered and sold for their fur and meat. Which is the lesser of two evils to you?

what do ya mean??
marinecrazy 4 years ago
haha cuz obviously the owner of this video has "supported" it, i have, and a lot of the people viewing this video have "supported" the cruel industry themselves, and many others are planning on doing it. i was just making fun of dolejsi, i'm sick of PETA activists like him/her bashing things like this (interaction programs).

I am confusing myself i am srry! lol
marinecrazy 4 years ago
Sigh, well when I said "too late!" in regards to dolejsi25 saying not to support such a cruel industry (animal interactions), what I meant was that many people watching this video have either participated in one themselves, or are planning on doing so, making dolejsi25's comment useless, as no one here really cares. I'm sick of PETA animal liberation psychos who post comments like that (which are UNTRUE) so that's why i said what i did, in hopes of pissing dolejsi25 off, lol. Nevermind.

Dammit.
MzUnd3rSt0oD 4 years ago
Well, which seaworld are u going to, and were you thinking about doing the beluga one or the sea lion one????
marinecrazy 4 years ago
I'm planning to go to San Antonio's SeaWorld (that's the only one that offers these programs, right? or no?) Cuz I went to the one in Orlando, and they didn't offer these programs (I did the dolphin one instead next door at Discovery Cove, and no swimming skill was required). I think I'm more likely to go for the sea lion program, though (had enough of whales! Haha).
MzUnd3rSt0oD 4 years ago
probably san antonio is the only one. just to tell u, the beluga whale one is a lot better.
marinecrazy 4 years ago
It's just the thing is...I CAN swim, but I just start wheezing (athsma) like hell when I do (symptoms randomly started this year). So my REAL question is whether I could "survive" through these sessions, cuz it looks like a lot of physical activity is taken place (in this video, at least). Can you give me the details of what you did?
MzUnd3rSt0oD 4 years ago
OK! well, we stood up on the side step more than actually getting in. our instructer made us watch a video, then we had to get in wet suits,(very tight) and then she introduced us to the whales. there names were Luna, and Crissie. we did one at a time. and she showed us all these signs of what to do with the whales. they are so gentle, and i bet that you won't wheeze.
marinecrazy 4 years ago
Thank you so much! I think I'll look into this next summer =D
MzUnd3rSt0oD 4 years ago
Oh that's great!!! Which interaction did u want to do again?? (beluga is best! :))
marinecrazy 4 years ago
Nope. They have you stand on a small platform that's no deeper than 3 feet or so. the dropoff is 16 feet deep for the belugas, but no, you really don't need to know how to swim at all. just feel comfortable enough to stand in it.
Silveroses 4 years ago
i did the marine mammal keeper program at orlando it was a huge blast!

altogether about an hour and a half (they show an informative video, and give you time to get dressed, etc) and about 30 minutes in the water

I have to do that.
tilligurl 4 years ago
Better to be in captivity and teaching people about themselves so they can be concerned about the ones that are free then to have all of them free and people not know much except what they see on animal planet. This is a great way to educate people on what they're losing in the wild.
woolybullyshanti 4 years ago
they are happy thats all that matters if they didnt capture some...they would probably be extinct...and another good thing is...if they didnt we wouldnt know how to perserve their species...we would kill them all...i think it is very fair...
joeyros 4 years ago
Its sad to see them locked up in tanks like that, deprived of freedom...
peepchick101 4 years ago
It's better than seeing their heads plastered on whales, being eaten as sushi, etc and having them bleed to death so they taste better. At least captivity saves them from such horrible deaths.

Salliannie 4 years ago
maybe they're in tanks so people who can't travel get to see them in person
guy4rm36109 4 years ago
if people can't see them in person then tuff.we have no right to take them out of there home to make them perform dum tricks!!!
k9chick 4 years ago
i totally agree with you!
We don't need aquariums
and all animals dont want to do this
did you know that some animals even killed themselves? People should think about captivity for animals when other animals killed themselves. Also did you know that the Miami Sea aquarium is a really bad place for animals? Yous hould watch some videos about it
you'll be in shock

but i feel sorry for her in that puny tank sufering and the trainers not understanding her feelings. Also its sad that you see a good friend of yours commiting suicide leaving you behind
animexrox 4 years ago
you're very right
majaorca100 3 years ago
okay whatever. first of all alot of these animals (especially the belugas) are rescued. and the animals are happy.
pccawwwsnap 3 years ago
i agree with you.we have no right to lock them up in tiny tanks and make them perform dum tricks.
k9chick 4 years ago
that tank is for performance only, the tank they live in is fairly deep. also only the portion in front of the stage is shallow. the rest is actually pretty deep, or else there aren't enough room for jumps.
kerdeboer 4 years ago
It doesn't matter how nice the tanks are; they are still tanks. The belugas are not free. They are in captivity. They cannot choose thier mates or stay with their families. They have do tricks... lots and lots of tricks everyday with no pay.. in a tank. Plus more than half of the captive beluga population was captured from the wild
peepchick101 4 years ago
moron, the animals will NOT perform unless they get fish for EVERY trick they do, thats the only way to pay them, they get well paid... their tanks are massive and have no concept of "captivity"
narcissusdark 4 years ago
First, if ur so smart, tell me how anyone can force a 2,000 lb sea mammal to do ANYTHING, and their "pay" is loads of A-quality fish. And they do stay with their families often times, there r many belugas at the San Antonio Seaworld that are mother and daughter to each other, etc. You probably wont even see my comment though, you're so big on yourself you don't even bother to read peoples comments that're replying to you, since to you, everyone else is always wrong on the subject of captivity.
MintyMojitto 3 years ago 4
Actually, I do indeed read all comments, thanks very much. While you cannot physically beat a sea lion into doing a trick (in the United States any ways) there are other methods. Animals are often deprived of companionship for long periods of time. They become rather desperate and look to humans for companionship. They are more willing to perform, thus forming some sort of human-animal bond.
peepchick101 3 years ago
Woah Peepchick actually replied! Probably the first time EVER you've replied to anyones' comments.
MintyMojitto 3 years ago 3
I don't know where you get your other facts but I do know that your sea lion companionship deprivation is a bunch of BS. I used to work full time with the sea lions and seal at the Milwaukee County Zoo and I guarantee you if one of the sea lions refused to do a trick, the last thing we would do is deprive them of companionship. 99% of the time they would be overly excited and eager to do tricks, continued..
CheekyCheatah 3 years ago 5
and in the very, very rare instances when they wouldn't perform, we would NEVER punish them whatsoever, especially in the ways you mentioned. We simply wouldn't acknowledge their mistakes and give them their space. I forgot to mention that many of the sea lions at our zoo that have been mothers are still with their children, and NONE are captured from the wild.
CheekyCheatah 3 years ago 5
NONE of them are captured from the wild?! They are never separated from their families??! While the MIlwaukee Zoo may not have done that while you were there, that does not mean the world's thousands of other zoos, parks, and aquariums don't.
peepchick101 3 years ago
While i of course can't speak for all of the other zoos and aquariums out there (and didn't mean for my original statement to come off that way), my main point that i meant was that despite your statements, not ALL sea lion facilities treat their sea lions that way (as i was referring to the milwaukee county zoo).
CheekyCheatah 3 years ago
