  • Oasis didn't copy this song at all, a lot of songs have a chord and have a "sus" added to them which is what's happening here, they're both very different

  • this is a copy of hindu times by oasis

  • @codywrite actually hindu times came out after this song, so Oasis are copying them...

  • @hellisforheroes hmm, while I'm a huge Stereophonics fan, and Oasis are well known for the musical plagiarism have a listen to The La's, "Looking Glass" ~1:40, sound familiar?? I only noticed today. Whatever the case Hindu Times is the most recent incarnation.

  • stop talking about oasis this song came earlier, this is sterephonics, meet them.

  • @codywrite Even though it was written and recorded 5 and half years earlier. My god thats a hell of a feat. Kelly must have travelled back in time to steal it. Word gets around released in 1997,Heathen Chemistry on 15 April 2002. Oh Dear.

This is a brilliant song from an even better album.

  • The Hindu Times does have the same riff as this - I'm suprised more songs don't considering it's such a simple phrase (effective though!)

  • this is a wicked song

    affairs lol

  • stolen riff or not the hindu times is better

  • fuckin genius .........

  • why isnt rich wearing shoes?

  • admit it everybody overall stereophonics are better oasis!!!!

  • Stereophonics and Oasis are just 2 ultimate bands:P

  • in wikipedia says this song is similar to "the hindu times"

    I don't think so.

Hello, fans of stereophonics!! is a great band;)

  • @UtwoOneMaster no its the riff, oasis took it form this track and used it on 'hindu times (liam g later confirmed this in an interview). kelly is aware of this but is ok with it, cos hes not an arsehole who sews at any opportunity ;) hope this helps

  • almost as fantastically amazing as every other stereophonics song

  • Fuckin magic, im so up for the wga gig,,

  • why is it that it's took so long for ppl to recognise the talent these guys have had as i remember when this album came out and didn't make it even into the top 10 back when i was a young chap in 1997, i knew back then the phonics were one of the best bands we had seen or heard for years, it's about time!! but that album deserved to be no 1 when it was relesed. it's in my top 10 even now!!!

  • @zeigalmonkey dam ryt!! they should re release all their albums!!!!

  • @zaksdad2082 f in right they should one o the best bands britan has ever seen comin fae a scots man that a heavy compliment!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Im an Oasis fan, i heard this song cause of them, who cares if noel stole the riff, this song is amazing, im gonna listen more Stereophonicss songs. They sound great!

  • I just read a load of the old comments on here comparing Oasis to these ,, sorry but haaaaa,, dont even go there, dont get me wrong i kinda like some Oasis songs,, but talent wise,, they are a pub band compared to these guys

  • WGA @ the apollo,, fuck im so up fot it,, gona drink all afternoon,, get a travelodge booked,, had to get my tickets off E Bay,, but we got em,, bring it on

  • What a song, can't wait to see WGA at the apollo, so happy i got the tickets!!! Kelly :oD

  • @xPhonicsGirlx same here, gotta see both nights! especially hearing the whole of performance and cocktails played! always wanted to hear plastic california live!

  • @Pacheco591 Agreed... either way, Oasis has no originality though. There's that guy on youtube who finds a rip Oasis does on just about every song...

  • Kelly looks like hes 14 yrs old... =P

  • i could swear that 0:46 is "The Hindu Times" by Oasis

  • @Glew1992

Nahhh it was the Riff from Does your mother Know By ABBA lol

At the end of the day copyrighting a sus4 is a bit like a writer copyrighting the word "green" or any word for that matter of fact.

Either way cool track and great album cool band Both Oasis and Phonics

  • Absolutely amazing performance best of that night in my opinion, just so much energy. RIP Stu you fucking legend!

  • @DowaShmiffy your last assertion before that sentence.

  • @DowaShmiffy But it is not true!

  • this is my faverate phonics song, and i think it was stuarts faverate aswell.

    R.I.P Stu

  • why bother arguing about stereophonics and oasis? they are mates and don't give a shit what people think.

  • @DowaShmiffy Why do you waste your time and try to prove to me something that I will never believe?

  • what a classic :D

  • stereophonics and oasis two best bands in world, to be honest im glad both of em have the same riff in their songs, they're both awesome songs and awesome bands

  • Word Gets Around - Most underrated album of all time!!

  • @DowaShmiffy "time machine" it is all that you could say? I am sure, Oasis wrote this riff before Stereophonics, but they didnt want to release it=)))

  • @DowaShmiffy Yes.. Poor Guy..

  • what was the set list for the cardiff castle gig in 98??

  • Looks Like Chaplin Check My Eyelids For Holes The Bartender and the Thief Same Size Feet Traffic Too Many Sandwiches Not Up To You T-Shirt Sun Tan A Thousand Trees Carrot Cake and Wine Is Yesterday, Tomorrow, Today? Goldfish Bowl Last of the Big Time Drinkers Local Boy in the Photograph She Takes Her Clothes Off I Wouldn't Believe Your Radio Billy Davey's Daughter Raymond's shop More Life in a Tramp's Vest
  • @hellisforheroes what a set list

  • @DowaShmiffy I think, comments exist because we want to show our viewpoint to all; I think it is obvious that sample by Oasis was stolen by Stereophonics, that's why I posted my comment. What the reason for become pesonality???

  • you are donk and moron

  • "I get up, when im down" haha. Your on it Lad.

  • what a voice!

  • @TheTish78 hush my child.

  • You know, givin the fact that there are only 12 notes in music, and most riffs consist of about 3 or 4 of those, it's not unheard of that two musicians can come to the same conclusion. On the other hand, given Oasis' extensive track record with "snagging" riffs, I wouldn't put ripping someone off past them

  • @ThuSkyline snagging? you mean stealing?

  • Yeah, pretty much.

  • CYMRU AM BYTH!

  • dam straight!!!

  • esta cancion me paece demasiado buena.....de la ptm

  • Who gives a shit about who stole what from who.

Same Size Feet and Hindu Times are both brilliant songs.

And the ABBA one isnt bad either...just relax and enjoy the music

  • Most underrated band ever!

  • @Malcomdaughter agreed

  • best most underated band ever glasgow luvs the phonics go on kelly they found a body in the lake classsss

  • My Son and I went to O2 in Dec 08 and this song was the highlight of his night. He has followed them since he was a nipper and I don't think we ever thought of Abba or anyone else all night! Stereophonics are a live band to be reckoned with..rock on !

  • i agree stereophonics took from abba :) I LOVE both the phonics and oasis apart from the riff both songs are worlds apart

  • They stole the riff from ABBA anyway, just enjoy the song!

  • what ABBA song out of interest?

  • Does your mother know. The riff at the start is very similar to the riff in this and Hindu Times.

  • FUCK YOU ALL!! you've never heard kelly jones saying "Noel Gallagher stole my bloody tune" all the contrary, every time you see them together they're drinking beers or playing some beatles tunes together. They must be laughing together at all the pathetic wankers that try to create asshole unexisting controversy.

  • fair play too ya

too be honest whether oasis stole the riff or not it doesnt matter all great bands have stole abit of material here an there

  • @carandres15 yep, and I don't think that I would feel offensed if a dude like Gallagher take one of my songs as an influence, right ? :D

  • awesomeness

  • Comment removed

  • cathy u were goin wel til u sed this is an average album track. this is a great song as is hindu times

  • you talk bollocks...if it was better they would have thought of the riff........END OF STORY. oh and every oasis song sounds the same...tooooooo overratted!

  • kieranroles is right, you talk bollocks!!!!!!!!!

  • ye these lads are right, absolutely stole this oasis did, its a joke, this track is album defining, british number one means fuck all if u knew music you'd know that, pure jive talking outta cathy

  • Oasis fucking stole the riff from them MAN!!!!

  • i reakon the resemblence is quite coincidental to be honest i mean its just switching between two notes on this one which is common for guitar while hindu times is apart of a scale they both made these songs up on their own if it sounded similar chord wise id believe it but it doesnt

  • EHHHH YES!!!!!

Noel even admitted he did. Kelly replied that he didnt mind as he put it "its not like i haven't borrowed off him (Noel)"

  • its very similar, but its not the same, to say oasis lifted it off stereophonics is looking too much into it, if any other band had done hindu times it would not have been suggested

  • anyone think the guitar sounds a bit like the hindu times by oasis?

  • eh, i can hear it. but its not too the same

  • yeh oasis totally ripped this off

  • Yes mate, how Noel Gallagher had the bare faced cheek to copy the riff is fookin scandalous.

  • You mean the way Kelly Jones nicks riffs from Led Zep? It's called taking pieces from songs, putting them together and saying "look what I've fucking made, and what I've made is better than where I took it from". Every band steals riffs or sounds. It's what you do with them when you have nicked it that matters. Also it's technically a compliment. And by the way the riff in this song isn't exactly the biggest example of theft ever. It's played completely differently.

  • wish they'd stayed a three piece band and Stuart stayed. loved them during this period... they changed loads with their later albums.

  • word gets around, best album ever.

  • got to agree ,performance & cocktails a close second luv pull the pin also, infact luv em all

  • @trevmcc "Word Gets Around" beats "Whats The Story Morning Glory" in my opinion!

  • one of the best songs ever

  • best one on that album

  • Yea so do I mate, check out my videos I have a John Squire solo track up if you haven't heard it before. His solo stuff is good despite what the Ian Brown die hards say. Sorry for givin you stick before you're a bit younger than me but Oasis are bastards. Listen to some Beta Band stuff. I've put up some stuff if you don't already know them, they're class.

  • Manchester, the biggest bands ever and 1 or 2 others.. well done.

  • You listen to one band mate.. piss off.

  • Grammer and spelling... you used the complete wrong words because you're a thick ignorant idiot.

  • You're clearly a thick fucking idiot. "there both great songs".. There?? "As long as where gettin good quality music.. Where?? You moron.. would have expected as much you tit head. I'm not just talking about these two songs either, Oasis have done it for countless tracks.

  • Ah shut the fuck up they've thieved tonnes of shit. Countless tracks have other peoples molested riffs sown into their tracks somehow as the hook. Blatant. They raided the Beta Band to fuck and all. '96, will you get a hold of yourself.

  • Just cause Noel said he had it, doesn't mean he's being truthful...

But it's a good riff, and they're both good bands. Chill out guys :P

  • yeeh he said in an interview that he bought a sitar after mornin glory and was played that frm the hindu times on it but left it

  • This song has absolutely nothing to do with the Hindu Times, other than ignorant rumours. Period.

  • never get tired of that one

  • hope they play it glasgow 3rd dec :P

  • Immense song :D

i seriously wanna go see them live....

  • You should.

Ive been 6 times and it gets better every time

  • hindu times was after this, oasis ripped it off!

  • 1st: Kelly Jones have recognized that copied to oasis a couple of times

2nd: this song is like one of the who(don't remember which in this moment)

3rd: sorry for my poor english

  • Not the best argument in the world was it? though i do like hindu times!

  • fan of sterophonics and oasis and yet i still don't see how the hindu times sounds like same sized feet. i think noel just nicked an indian riff

  • @gozzy: Ripped it off? No. You have to realise there is only 88 tones, so many chords and scales, things are limited. I heard the hindu times link as soon as hindu times came out. Its great! Songwriters should develop and evolve each others ideas. Kelly has "ripped off" lots of ideas too. Its not what its about.

Everything and anything could be credited as being "ripped off" something else, there is so much music. Its more about the feelings it provokes, what we enjoy and love.

  • I love the riff from Hindu Times so I like this song too

  • they played it at blackburn :D

  • they sure did. =)

Didn't play Looks Like Chaplin though. =(

  • wish i had sung this 2 my ex

  • This was brilliant live at Carlisle on July 9th too!

  • so underated

  • Cazzarola è spiccicata a The Hindu Times XD anche se da quanto ho letto l'hanno scritta prima loro...cmq bella canzone,è la prima volta che lo sento

  • i dont speak your language but yeah hindu times does sound a lot like this

  • crikey, that riff is exactly the same as Hindu Times by Oasis. Guessing phonics got there first though.

  • funnily enough, when hindu times came out there was a whole argument about oasis stealing the riff! but yeah your right, stereophonics wrote the song over 10 years ago :)

  • better song than hindu times too.. he doesnt have to go "oh no he just cant seeeyaaaaaaayyyyyyyeeeeeeeeee" to make it good

  • sensational

  • got this gig on video.awesome.

  • since years its a favourit song of mine ! i love it !

greets from South Korea ... hope to be back in Germany soon...Stereophonics are 5 Stars deluxe !!!
