love this song and yes the riff of hindu times sounds similar but as the sound of the overall song they sound nothing a like, both great songs and bands in my opinion
Oasis didn't copy this song at all, a lot of songs have a chord and have a "sus" added to them which is what's happening here, they're both very different
@hellisforheroes hmm, while I'm a huge Stereophonics fan, and Oasis are well known for the musical plagiarism have a listen to The La's, "Looking Glass" ~1:40, sound familiar?? I only noticed today. Whatever the case Hindu Times is the most recent incarnation.
@codywrite Even though it was written and recorded 5 and half years earlier. My god thats a hell of a feat. Kelly must have travelled back in time to steal it. Word gets around released in 1997,Heathen Chemistry on 15 April 2002. Oh Dear.
This is a brilliant song from an even better album.
@UtwoOneMaster no its the riff, oasis took it form this track and used it on 'hindu times (liam g later confirmed this in an interview). kelly is aware of this but is ok with it, cos hes not an arsehole who sews at any opportunity ;) hope this helps
why is it that it's took so long for ppl to recognise the talent these guys have had as i remember when this album came out and didn't make it even into the top 10 back when i was a young chap in 1997, i knew back then the phonics were one of the best bands we had seen or heard for years, it's about time!! but that album deserved to be no 1 when it was relesed. it's in my top 10 even now!!!
@zaksdad2082 another guy that supports great music m8 bring them all on the fonics are the top o te british bands well outdo oasis n blur, pulp etc fonics forever
Im an Oasis fan, i heard this song cause of them, who cares if noel stole the riff, this song is amazing, im gonna listen more Stereophonicss songs. They sound great!
I just read a load of the old comments on here comparing Oasis to these ,, sorry but haaaaa,, dont even go there, dont get me wrong i kinda like some Oasis songs,, but talent wise,, they are a pub band compared to these guys

@DowaShmiffy I think, comments exist because we want to show our viewpoint to all; I think it is obvious that sample by Oasis was stolen by Stereophonics, that's why I posted my comment. What the reason for become pesonality???
You know, givin the fact that there are only 12 notes in music, and most riffs consist of about 3 or 4 of those, it's not unheard of that two musicians can come to the same conclusion. On the other hand, given Oasis' extensive track record with "snagging" riffs, I wouldn't put ripping someone off past them
My Son and I went to O2 in Dec 08 and this song was the highlight of his night. He has followed them since he was a nipper and I don't think we ever thought of Abba or anyone else all night! Stereophonics are a live band to be reckoned with..rock on !
FUCK YOU ALL!! you've never heard kelly jones saying "Noel Gallagher stole my bloody tune" all the contrary, every time you see them together they're drinking beers or playing some beatles tunes together. They must be laughing together at all the pathetic wankers that try to create asshole unexisting controversy.
you talk bollocks...if it was better they would have thought of the riff........END OF STORY. oh and every oasis song sounds the same...tooooooo overratted!
ye these lads are right, absolutely stole this oasis did, its a joke, this track is album defining, british number one means fuck all if u knew music you'd know that, pure jive talking outta cathy
i reakon the resemblence is quite coincidental to be honest i mean its just switching between two notes on this one which is common for guitar while hindu times is apart of a scale they both made these songs up on their own if it sounded similar chord wise id believe it but it doesnt
its very similar, but its not the same, to say oasis lifted it off stereophonics is looking too much into it, if any other band had done hindu times it would not have been suggested
You mean the way Kelly Jones nicks riffs from Led Zep? It's called taking pieces from songs, putting them together and saying "look what I've fucking made, and what I've made is better than where I took it from". Every band steals riffs or sounds. It's what you do with them when you have nicked it that matters. Also it's technically a compliment. And by the way the riff in this song isn't exactly the biggest example of theft ever. It's played completely differently.
Yea so do I mate, check out my videos I have a John Squire solo track up if you haven't heard it before. His solo stuff is good despite what the Ian Brown die hards say. Sorry for givin you stick before you're a bit younger than me but Oasis are bastards. Listen to some Beta Band stuff. I've put up some stuff if you don't already know them, they're class.
You're clearly a thick fucking idiot. "there both great songs".. There?? "As long as where gettin good quality music.. Where?? You moron.. would have expected as much you tit head. I'm not just talking about these two songs either, Oasis have done it for countless tracks.
Ah shut the fuck up they've thieved tonnes of shit. Countless tracks have other peoples molested riffs sown into their tracks somehow as the hook. Blatant. They raided the Beta Band to fuck and all. '96, will you get a hold of yourself.
@gozzy: Ripped it off? No. You have to realise there is only 88 tones, so many chords and scales, things are limited. I heard the hindu times link as soon as hindu times came out. Its great! Songwriters should develop and evolve each others ideas. Kelly has "ripped off" lots of ideas too. Its not what its about.
Everything and anything could be credited as being "ripped off" something else, there is so much music. Its more about the feelings it provokes, what we enjoy and love.
Gli Oasis sono finiti, comunque è solo l'attacco che è uguale,il resto è un pezzo autonomo.Same size feet è contenuta nell'album Word Gets Around del 1997,ben cinque anni prima del pezzo degli oasis.
