Yeah Johnny 5 came up to my mind when I saw Wall-E. I couldn't recall about that old movie until now. Wall-E seems to be similar with Johnny 5 but with a lil' change on the upper body and arms. But hey, thanks to Wall-E, I get to find the childhood memory film of short circuit about Johnny 5. I miss the old movie. ;D And Wall-E just tops it with the great emotional sense animation movie. They're both great on their era.

Well, i like Wall-e but i like Johnny-5 a lot better because between the two movies you see him mature like a child growing up. On the othe hand Wall-e's character developes around what we left behind. So in my honest opinion if i wanted to meet one of these two robots, it would be Johnny-5, i want to see Wall-e and Eve adopt and take care of a human baby before i consider meeting him.

i loved Johnny 5, but walle is the better film. obviously disney were inspired by Johnny 5 when designing him, but that doesn't make it a rip off! Even the greatest artists of all time get their inspiration from somewhere.

They're both equal even though they're different. Johnny was built for the military. WallE is industrial (like a forklift crossed with a trash compactor). I don't believe WallE was a ripoff of Johnny Five...or R2-D2 for that matter. Which reminds me, the sound design in WALL-E was the work of the unquestionably talented Ben Burtt (who also did sound design for Star Wars).
