f-22 can't fire high off bore missiles no esms to fire aim-9x-120d no helmet-mounted cuing,no irst, used to fire them,yes they have been fire from a f-22 but that was just a devolpment plane.the bay door giving problems firing. these all thing f-18e/f has. they want people to think they have all but don't, so we must check up and demand for them,and if i'm wrong i will be happy, reALLY !
@hotrod4you2 you are wrong - f22 / f15/f16/f18 can all fire off bore missiles without helmet cueing system (Aim-9P Batch 3 has off bore capability, though limited). Aim-9X I & II with JointCueing has 180 + 180 degree offbore capability (and yes F22 and F35 will all have them - as with F/A-18E/F, F-16 block 52+ and up, and F-15E). You can be happy now...because it cost our taxpayers more than $120 million to reconfigure the jets to do so in 2008.
@tascas44 Actually, a carrier based F-15 variant was proposed but the US navy decided to go with the F-14 instead, which was a very good fighter, much better than the F-18.

@bob01081969 I think in close dog-fighting the F-15 active would win because it is more maneuverable thanks to its 3D thrust vectoring nozzles. But in long range combat, the F-22 wins hands down. Meaning, the F-22 will every time since the F-15 will never be able to detect the F-22 and get close into a dogfight.

@hotrod4you2 The F-18 has better equipment than the F-22? You're kidding, right? The F-22 is the most technologically advanced fighter in the world. It has the most advanced radar, sensors and avionics in general. The F-18 can't be compared with it. The F-22 can even jam another aircraft's targeting systems.
As for the F-35, it is better than the aircraft it's supposed to replace, the F-18 and the F-16. But in my opinion it was the F-14 and its Super Tomcat variants that should have been the

It has TVC, it has very large control surfaces, which help it with low speed maneuvers and it has very advanced fly-by-wire systems. But a 4.5 gen aircraft, like the Su-35, will never even get close enough to the F-22 to get into a dog-fight anyway. The F-22 will just detect it from over 100 km away and will destroy it with a long range missile. Why do u think the Russians built the PAK FA?

I think we should name this jet as Super-Eagle. It does have trust vectoring nozzles and can perform the famous Pugachev's Cobra maneuver.
