  • too much delay for me and about 1,000 other people. Same problem Eric Johnson has. Both y'all have delayitits (inflammation of the delay)

Hard to even tell what notes you are playing because the delay buries everything. Its just one big distraction.

Just my opinion dont take offense. You are a good player.

  • Dennis,

Best cover of this I have ever heard, bar none. Nice settings on all the effects too! I would like to get a copy of this, but how?

    Kind Regards,

    Steve

  • I perfer this version over SRV's cover. This is exactly what I'm looking for in a cover, people's own genuine style and taste.

  • Loved it Dennis, On a Chinese Strat too!

  • Inspiring....... Favorited, just to remind me to keep it real, Thx.

  • Hi Dennis, Thanks for leaving this gem up on youtube. I love it! Your Texas Electric Blues Guitar DVD is great. Everytime I go through it I learn something different and interesting. I must say your version of Little Wing is some of the best of the best! Hope you are doing well under the circumstances.

    Kind Regards,

    Steve

  • that man has soul

  • Even after 3 years I still comeback to this and am inspired.

  • way to go old man!

  • Texas Forever!

  • He just spews the blues.

Like water off a ducks back Jack.

  • you are an unbelivable guitar player, humble man, and make me proud to be an American.

You got to be one of the greatest guitar plays and ironically one of most anonymous one at that

  • Dennis you are a helluva player and even greater instructor. Thank you for sharing, I will take the knowledge and run like hell with it!

  • Dude, This one blows my mind! If i ever get a chance to come and play ....this is what i want to leave with!

  • Man thats some beautiful playing. You're an amazing player my friend

  • Fender players and their reverb.....

  • Spacey. Awesome. Love it. You meet Jimi too. What a treat. Keep rocking DD.

  • haters are a dime a dozen. This is Hendrx. I would really like it is someone could point out two recordings of Jimi or Stevie Ray or anyone playing this song the same way twice. Great cover.

  • GREAT tone man!

  • @dennisdullea hey this is really great you put so much soul into it keep it up man

  • Very good play and skills, just play it the way you like it.

    Thanks,

  • You look like an ugly redneck dole bludger to start playing like one or give me your guitars you scum.

  • ur great and ur right ur sopposed to play it like its your own. my teacher is the always tellin me to play the song my own way. but is degital delay or reverb better for this song?

  • Texans have that Hendrix feel to there playing. Like your version, really good sound

  • : O INCREDIBLE !!!!!!

  • Just stunning. Loved it

  • that was great man, great tone and phrasing.

  • I love how the guitar on the wall gives you horns xD

  • ahahaha that tele bass

  • This is one of the best guitar songs ever written and your version just had me sitting here stunned.

When you feel the nose tingle with emotion while watching someone play you know they're doing it right.....wow

    Peace man

  • Thanks to all of you...Good and Bad comments! Just Remember: Music is not a competition! I'm not trying to prove anything. I just the love the Man and his songs and this is ME playing it MY way. You are free to do the same! It's NOT REVERB!!! It's Digital Delay, and I use to much of it cause I like it that way. There are a lot of Cats down here in Texas and in England (Mike Garvey for instance) who are 100 times better than me at covering JH's songs! God Bless You Mike Garvey! Dennis Dullea

  • @dennisdullea : Great post! Great playing! :)

  • turn down the reverb XD

  • WOW

  • very inspirational! andif Jimi told you to do it your way; he was a great teacher saying that!

  • CHEERS from Texas!

I would had to applaud if I were sitting there. Some of these critics, I doubt, could pick their nose.

Played the Sienna sunburst USA standard strat at guitar center yesterday for about 2 hrs. Only problem I had was high E would pop out of nut on bends, did it twice nad the tone closest to edge on body would "drop" against body when you got to 9, ever had this problem?

    Thanks

  • THANKS!!!!!!! keep it up for all of us that cant!!!!! we appreciate every note

  • I love it man. Congratulations

  • Fantastic rendition! Your feel, tone, phrasing...all of it was outstanding!

  • stupid echo.. the same as steve vai.. you guys are both great players.. but the sound...

  • Tell that to Eric Johnson Too!

  • EJ would have played it his own ways too, violin sound and all.

Love your intro to the vid, Dennis. Thanks!

  • @dennisdullea i told him just 1 minute ago and he said he likes the echo and so do I.

  • @15381472 Accept Vai makes Gay Kissy faces the whole time....Dennis does not....Echo or not, It's Jimi's song the way Dennis wants to play it.

  • tennessee williams and faulkner were readnecks

    ; )

  • you are so lucky to have met jimi, could you please reply and tell me how you met him

  • he can play any way he want

  • when he was live jimi had a very overdriven sound,,,,,

  • That's not distortion...it's called reverb...and I agree...too much of it.

  • "to much distortion"

The word is spelled "T-O-O" meaning (too much)

Let us all see your version of this song done Live on a Chinese Stratocaster. Perhaps then we could all see the "CORRECT" way to play it.

Besides, Jimi Hendrix told me that I could Play his songs "Any way you want to, Man" Thanks, Dennis

  • hahahaha you are a genius man, i love this version of the song, i mean your version. Very very good.

  • @dennisdullea Good job on the song! I'd like to (used for expressing motion or direction toward a point,) play that song as well you did, and my ears would like it too ( meaning, also, furthermore, in addition)! So your English is right on as well! Don't let the haters piss you off dude! Great tone and the delay sounded good to me!

    Keep rocking the house!

  • Fantastic! Really good playin man! What kind of chorus u use?

  • Youre Good... I always loved this song..always wanted to learn it too.

  • awesome man sounds great!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Dennis, Hope all is well man! I bet the instructional video is awesome and about ready to hit the streets!

    Can't wait!

Don't ever take Little Wing away from us.

    Kind Regards,

    Steve

  • @zvegasz fuck you

  • nice cover

  • 3:15 - love that lick

  • o contadinooooooooooooooooooooo

  • Great! Perfect!

    Steve

  • a lil too much reverb

  • thinks it delay

  • that would make more sense.. im dumb lol

  • Unbelievable man! I am truly looking forward to your lesson dvd!

    Strve

    davido

  • I find it real hard to improvise at the mo, but hopefully in time il be able to be play with as much freedom on the board as you and others have. :)

Do you have your music anywhere as an mp3? would be great to have it on my player. :)

  • truly beautiful

    Thanks again man!

    Kind Regards,

    Steve

  • I like it. this song has alot of your own emotions in it....Its great!

  • Had to get my weekly Dennis Wing fix.

Hope all is good for you man. Your version is just "out a sight"! You should record it as a single just like this. It's got everything going for it. You gotta have a big heart to play it the way you do. So ya, a big thanks for you! There has got to be a gem of a person behind it!

    Kind Regards,

    Steve

  • Dennis! Hope you are OK man?

    Best Regards,

    Steve

  • Fly on Dennis Wing!

  • great job!!

I really like this version of it.

By the way, what kind of guitar is that?

    I'm guessing fender?

  • Squier

  • Geez man this is about the 100th time I listened to this, its incredible! When will your lesson site be up?!

  • great job

  • This rocks! Well, I think there's way to much delay; but that's a matter of taste;)

  • That was brilliant man just brilliant! you made that classic tune your own! God bless you 4 sharing this with us!

  • On all my youtube excursions I always start and then finish with one of your videos. Unbelievable music! Thanks so much, I don't car about the gear, I care about the fingers and the mind and heart behind them. And then what these things add up to create!

    Best Regards,

    Steve

  • omg! There are no words to tell this! On youtube this is the BEST Little Wing, which is not played by Jimi himself! I like this version more than SRV version! Best wishes from Hungary Dennis! Keep on rockin' ! :)

  • fantastic guitar Sir,thankyou for sharing with the world cheers from Tasmania

  • Yes...It was Sunday May 10th, 1970 in San Antonio, Texas. I snuck backstage & just as he was leaving I ran up to him, and blubbered something about how much I loved him, But didn't think I was playing this song right. That when he said it. I talked to him for a long time...about 18 seconds I think it was. He was very kind and Humble to me, gave me an autograph & a guitar pick with "Jimi Hendrix" on it, then said "I've got to catch a plane". He was dead 4 Months & 8 days later.

  • Dennis , this is my favorite version of Jimi's song...the "mojo" red is killer

    davido

  • Sir, I must say... thats incredible! You CAN play Jimi Hendrix however you want, because what you play is incredible much like his and thats what it's all about. Keep playing man!

what amp/FX are you using? I'd say a wah pedal pushed down with very high reverb

  • no its a fender super twin reverb

  • Actually it's a Super-Sonic But with the output hooked up to the homemade wooden 2X12 Speaker box you see behind me. It has 2 Chinese re-issue G12M Celestions in it. The guitar Is a $175.00 Squire right out of the cardboard shipping box. The FX are Boss Compressor, Boss Blues Driver & Boss DD-6. The rest is from the 125 Acid Trips, 584,000 Beers, 17 Detoxes, 3 Trips to Lockdown Psycho wards, 6 Failed Marraiges, 50 different full time jobs & almost 20 years Sober in an Anonymous Fellowship Now.

  • @dennisdullea

Honestly man, of all the things to wear you chose that, it's like you have some sort of "troll fetish". Although I am not a fan of the delay in this case, someone who can play like you on a guitar like that is free to wear what they want.

  • no its a fendr super twin reverb

  • I have the same neck strap

  • jimi hendrix and stevie ray vaughan would be proud!!!!!

  • what amp do you use!!!

  • im pretty sure its a fender deluxe reverb

  • hey man, you play it quite beautifully.

  • that was awesome man, i watch your stuff all the time and i just wanted to say thanks.

Also, i can't believe that's a squire cause it sounds so good. What kind of delay are you using? It kind of looks like a boss but correct me if i'm wrong.

  • OMG! That was fantastic! Cool!!!!!!

    Jimi is smilin!!!!

  • I have that same strap... DEPT. OF CORRECTIONS

  • thank you:)

  • You have GREAT skill... Your health condition makes me cry.. Truely you are a musician that has knowledge and adeptness of a blues tradition that is slowly being passed from one to another, but not quickly enough... I fear this form in it's originality will die out with the passing of the masters, and we will be left with a copycat shell of an art form. I tip my hat to you, sir, as an original. Your licks kick blues ass!!

    Forever in your debt, Jason

  • I Love all of you for being so kind to me. I am just an old drunk who fell in love with the blues when he was 11 years old. I got Sober Oct 24th, 1988 (God's Grace) Now I have Heart Disease (2 Heart Attacks)and Terminal Diabetes which makes it almost impossible for me to walk. I live one day at a time (again) God's grace....But I will keep playing until they nail the lid shut on the box, because somebody might just smile and say "Thank You" and that's what I live for...

    Thank You All....Dennis.

  • Well, u old wizard, lemme say thank u 4 all the emotions and tears u gave me. this i promise u... smeday i will be at least as good as u. u're to blame 4 this! God be with you! wish i would have a grandpa like u. all the best!...

  • AWSOME ! (Y)

  • you meet jimmy hendrix??

  • Rock on, man! It's awesome!

  • nice

  • OK. That´s it!. I quit, Mr Dennis! You did it with a Squire!!. I won´t spend one more dimme in fancy Strato an Teles w/Seymour Duncan or Lance Sensors and Ernie Ball. I swear!. I´m your #1 fan, Maestro.

  • how do you know it's a squire?

  • Yes, it's a Squire right out of the box from China. I call those things "Pain Machines" cause thats what I use them for to release the pain of 45 years of dragging gear in & out of beer joints so I could be a Cheerleader for a bunch of Drunks. (I was the #1 drunk) Once (in 1988) I had a Black 1955 Taddeo Gomez Strat, That night when I played it through a 64 super reverb with an old TS808 in front of 200 people not ONE PERSON said anything to me about the incredible "Tone" It's an inside job man.

  • awesome !!!!

  • That was great Dennis, very mellow rendition.

  • this is my FAVORITE song, and you just made it more favorite-y...? haha kick ass, love the reverb on it.

Thank you.

  • Wonderful song and even more awesome story. Thanks

  • You have touch the music in me, when I hear someone play from the heart, I have to fight back tears because I'm hearing a god given talent. It's been a long time "thank you".

  • Very nice man. So did you really know Hendrix?

  • Yes, I knew him...for about 18 seconds...when I caught him backstage in San Antonio, Texas in July 1970. Me and a friend had sneaked backstage after his show, and I caught him on his way to his limo. I ran up to him and started talking, and when I let him talk, he said "You can play my songs anyway you want to Man" Then he gave me a guitar pick and left.

  • Wow. That is really awesome. Please continue to post videos. Your playing is incredible and you really do play from your heart
