I don't know if maybe it's just because I'm used to special effects in films now, but it seems to me like all these movies people thought were "Snuff films", like Cannibal Holocaust, are really obviously fake. If you look closely you can actually see the bike seat the actress was sitting on. I can't believe they were actually going to prosecute the director over it.
I'm about to start part 3, but how has there been no mention of MONDO movies and AFRICA ADDIO? If they don't mention that film in this documentary, they really didn't do their job correctly as those Mondo Movies were the inspiration of Cannibal Holocaust and Africa Addio actually shows a real murder on film.

In reality, cannibals are tribe members who eat small parts of their recently deceased loved ones as part of the grieving process. The concept has been blown out of proportion, though, and the word cannibal now is used to describe "man-eating savage". I mean, those guys could've grabbed the homeless guy and killed him just for fun, but the other guy who took out his phone and filmed it could have been an afterthought. Who is to say that they set out that day to kill someone and tape it and put it online? We just don't know. But as for genuine snuff - all the killings are planned in advance of filming.

@tujeslovenija When the killers were put on trial, they admitted they were only doing it for their own sick fun/curiosity. No payment involved. They killed animals and then people, and they even attended the funerals of the people they killed (because no one knew they were the killers) just so they could pose for pictures of them flipping off the corpses. They then uploaded everything themselves, but it was all taken down. Regardless, its still passed around online and remains there today.

The only reason the authorities thought it was a "snuff" film was because deadato hyped the film as lost footage. In the film itself there were several animals killed and i believe the fella who says in this part of the documentary that they used real cannibals in the film.

@hawaiou ..well bud in 1980 the state of movie effects and what ppl were used to seeing and entirely shocked by isnt nearly the same.i was 13 in 1989 when i saw it and man their was not much like it.at all..i knew of the late 70s early 80s italio-zombie flicks and they were gory but unrealistic and nightmare on elm street and friday the 13th werent realistic either..not sayin i shit myself but it looked by far more realistic than anything id seen to date i can see how some ppl may have flipped

On the other hand 3m1h, well, the actual recording of the murder could've been an afterthought. I mean, those guys could've grabbed the homeless guy and killed him just for fun, but the other guy who took out his phone and filmed it could have been an afterthought. Who is to say that they set out that day to kill someone and tape it and put it online? We just don't know. But as for genuine snuff - all the killings are planned in advance of filming.

@tujeslovenija When the killers were put on trial, they admitted they were only doing it for their own sick fun/curiosity. No payment involved. They killed animals and then people, and they even attended the funerals of the people they killed (because no one knew they were the killers) just so they could pose for pictures of them flipping off the corpses. They then uploaded everything themselves, but it was all taken down. Regardless, its still passed around online and remains there today.

The only reason the authorities thought it was a "snuff" film was because deadato hyped the film as lost footage. He even made a contract with the actors to not make any public appearances to add to the plausability that the actors were indeed murdered. It backfired badly. this documentary is a sensationlist and selective portrayal of the facts.
