To achieve that sound i layered a violin with a trancy sounding detuned saw wave. It doesn't sound japanese it's just the melody that makes it japanese.

It's just a detuned saw wave with portamento changed to legato and because of that u can hear a slide. Don't apologize, it was my favour to achieve something japanese with it.
