@babyxcake1 No, I don't get you at all and I think you meant "offense". "Affence" is not a word. As to why to teach a dog this, because it's good for him. It teaches him discipline, obedience and work ethic. All values which many people (and their pets) these days severely lack. Most of us have to work to reap any sort of rewards, my dog has to do the same.

I basically just thought of what I figured would be the best way to show him, and it ended up working pretty well. My way may differ than the next guy's though, I dunno.

@ealdrich1 Yea he's pretty quick. It only took me a couple of 15 minute or so sessions to teach him :). He's got it down pretty good now though!

@superfreakinawesome8 You have to show him what to do, he won't correlate the "bang" to anything on his own. I just started by holding a treat in my hand and having him sit, then I'd point my finger and say "bang" and after that, I'd lay him on his side then give him the treat. I just repeated that and gradually he got the idea :)
