I had brain surgery on the back part of the skull, It has been a year now and I have recovered fully, my tumour was benign and is not going to come back.
But I have developed a clicking in t he neck when walking now, i dont really think it's connected to the surgery though. Any Ideas?
@fr13nd1y You might have your therapist check for fascial restrictions from incision that may be restricting movement of vertebrae, this would cause a clicking. Can't say from online, though, just a suggestion. =)

@AbeBSea You should be able to! Find a therapist who is comfortable and knowledgeable about trigger point and, Myofascial release. Good luck...sorry to hear you needed that done.
A good watch; thanks for sharing this video of your approach! I had a friend and client get vertebrae fused. Massage helped her a great deal, afterwards as well (reduction of scar formation and range of motion). Thanks for posting!
Music is all very well for those who might enjoy that particular piece. but I for one, found it most irritating. Would have preferred some narrative, sorry.
@HiredGoonage Discs bulge usually as a result of the simultaneous dislocation and compression of the vertebrae. I apply deep directional compression strokes to alleviate this problem.
This video, however, is pre-surgery, so the goal here was to keep the tissue (already hyper tonic) as pliable as possible, relieve pressure upon the discs, and address trigger points. This decreased her pain levels. End Goal= fast recovery.
@quadturbo4 Yes! In fact, her doctor said she recovered amazingly fast! She just told me the other day we gotta do some "after videos" for this. Thanks!
@TMundo Anterior and Medial Scalenes. They were in spasm, and had "locked down" against the cervical spine. My thumb had slid over the belly of the muscle, which is not pleasant. What you don't see in the video is the 15min of work I did after that to release.
@sea786 Thank you sea..I hear that from a lot of people who visit spas thinking they will get actual bodywork. It takes an independent or clinical therapist to deliver personal bodywork care!
well that depends on the recipient now, doesnt it? its all about preferences, and whats actually being done. i would'nt think 65$ is a waste of money even if its soft massage...all depends on how long the session is and how it is executed.
I live in Las Vegas! Neck and shoulder release is my absolute favorite thing to do! So many problems are relieved when the shoulders come out of the ears!
Can you explain what's going on with that muscle? Why your fingers got look like they got into a car accident, why the muscle protruded so much when you went back, why one go-through was enough... I watch this video all the time but never understood what's *really* going on. Thank you!
Honestly, you would have to be a therapist to understand what's happening. As for my fingers, it's the position I put them in to apply my technique. It's not painful. As for one go through, this video was edited from about an hour and a half work.
my doctor had rubbed my throat really quick when i was getting my physical, and it made me feel a ton more relaxed for the next like 10 minutes. do you know how he did it? i've been looking everywhere for how it was done but i can't find anything. it's almost like something only doctors reveal to each other lol
Some people just have the "touch!" A person who is caring and compassionate can relax those around them, and are usually referred to as healers! Stick with that doc if you can.
I couldn't do that for liability purposes! :D However, working with a therapist before and after any surgery is a great idea IMO. If it's only to relax the person and reduce stress, or to affect the tissues, it can only help!
Muscles begin to contract in response to stresses upon the body, as they work to contract, toxins in the form of cellular waste is present. The body has difficulty removing the waste due to the pressure within the contracted muscle, it begins to degrade the muscle fibers.among many things). Snowball effect. go get a massage soon!
This is sooo relaxing to watch and the music is a great choice for the video. I have always loved massage and chiropractic. But one way i get a massage and get my back cracked is a little weird i guess, because i get my girlfriend to walk on my back and it cracks it good everytime. But she really doesn't like walking on my back for fear of hurting me. I don't feel like its hurting me, it feels good to me. Is it true that this is unsafe?
Yeah, it can be unsafe if she doesn't know what she is doing. There is a reason it takes a lot of schooling, testing, accreditation and licensing to perform massage, and chiropractic is out of my scope of practice. She could be cracking your back in the wrong direction, resulting in problems later in life...sometimes years later.
Yes, Most have pain while working a trigger, and usually are sore for a day or so afterward. Placing a moist hot towel over the area and drinking water reduces the side effects.

That's her cameo appearance! She had to get in on the screen action, too! Thanks for watching! If you look under the table in the beginning, you will see her there, too!
Yes, technically known as a trigger point. In that part, a very large one in the medial scalene that was a bothersome trouble maker throughout her ordeal.
I hesitate to say, but I will anyways...you CAN work out a trigger point! there is no 'loosening' it, but it usually needs manual manipulation over several treatments to release it. The tricky part is keeping life stress free enough to prevent return.:P
Yes, after her surgery it's been possible to release it;before, the pressure and pain continued to aggrevate it.
It was more comfortable for her to sit on a pillow, with another pillow 'hugged' in front of her for support. Similar to later term pregnancy positioning. Thanks for watching!
