@Rgvfan12 i highly doubt that. People in America know a lot about dyslexia so the film was nothing special to them. I love this movie, but i think India should have chosen a better film than this to be nominated for an Oscar.

One of the reasons lagaan didn't win OSCARS b/c it had songs also, even the OSCAR voter siad that. he said songs hurt the movie pace or whatever. american movies have sex scenes i guess ppl dont care about that ruining the pace.

@Rgvfan12 are you kidding me? Slumdog Millionaire (even though not entirely indian) had songs and it won Best Picture. Salaam Bombay won Best Foreign Film and it had songs. Keep in mind it's more than one person choosing. Like i said, america knows a lot about dyslexia so the movie probably didn't appeal to them like the other countries' films. I'm pretty sure if they had chosen another film, it would have won or been nominated.

Indian films never get nominated and u know it too. slumdog is not indian movie and salaam bombay came out long time ago. Indian movies get robbed at oscars every year. a movie called dogtooth got nominated ? WTF

@Rgvfan12 Yes i know slumdog isn't an indian movie! you said this movie didn't win because of songs. I just used that because slumdog had songs in it. Salaam Bombay is not that old and it won. It doesn't matter what the title of the movie is, the judges look for good movies. Other countries have good movies too, not just India. India carefully needs to choose it's film to nominate. TZP is one of my favorite movies, but it is not Oscar worthy in my opinion. But i do agree Lagaan should have won.
