I still do not see how it will have any serious, negative effect on existing and future traditional families. Where is the casual link between gays and gay marriage and an erosion of heterosexual, families. As a heterosexual person, I plan on one day marrying and having children and being a good husband and father and the presence of homosexuals in the same society will not change my plans.

This is not a rhetorical question. How exactly is gay marriage a threat to the well being of heterosexual families/households? I disagree with but understand people's views on the sanctity of marriage and why it should not be redefined. What I cannot understand is how people can see gay marriage as something that has the potential to decrease the number of traditional marriages, increase divorces, increase domestic violence, increase parental neglect and weaken a parent child bond.

The right to chose is very different from valuing the sanctity of life. Discriminating against sexual orientation is very different from valuing the institution of marriage being the sacred union of one man and one woman. Well, I googled "studies on homosexual unions" like you said, and frankly I don't see it. The very first link is to the Catholic website, and their article is quite general and doesn't really make sense. There is a link further down to an article by some guy from the Family Research Institute in Colorado Springs - and we all know that they do not present factual data.
There's lots of angles to this issue - you can't just pick and choose the ones that supposedly make your point

Okay, so let us assume that, yes, homosexuality is an abomination and gay marriage is undesirable. I still do not see how it will have any serious, negative effect on existing and future traditional families. Where is the casual link between gays and gay marriage and an erosion of heterosexual, families. As a heterosexual person, I plan on one day marrying and having children and being a good husband and father and the presence of homosexuals in the same society will not change my plans.

I disagree with but understand people's views on the sanctity of marriage and why it should not be redefined. What I cannot understand is how people can see gay marriage as something that has the potential to decrease the number of traditional marriages, increase divorces, increase domestic violence, increase parental neglect and weaken a parent child bond.

but the reality is if that's the only issue you're basing your whole vote on you need to stop and think about what the bible says about christianity, and about giving to the poor and helping others who are down. Please research David Barton who has spent numerous years studying our American history. Unfortunately you have believed the history books that have deleted the Judeo-Christian values of our forefathers. Don't be ignorant...do you also believe in "separation of church and state" which has been misinterpreted by the ACLU, Democrats etc? Government is supposed to stay out of Religion, not religion out of government issues.

I've never been given crap about being non-holy by anyone but the Christian religion, the one who relentlessly tries to make me believe in their one and true God. Well let me be the one to burst your bubble; every major religion in the world has as much concrete evidence to show that their God is the only true God. So whose right? The right to chose is very different from valuing the sanctity of life. Discriminating against sexual orientation is very different from valuing the institution of marriage being the sacred union of one man and one woman. Many, if not most, understand(and have little issue with) the idea of civil unions and domestic partnerships for the sake of rights...but its not the same as marriage.
Christians that are doing it right aren't hating anyone but look at who's really being intolerant. Vote Values

It always upsets me as a Christian to hear others saying things because they want it.
The New testiment speaks of loving one another, not hating nor does it come out and say directly that gay is bad - that is people wanting it to say it and interpreting it that way. It does say a married person should be faithful to their spouse.
On the other matter - it does also say that life is sacred and babies being killed off is wrong.
People need to take responsibility for their actions.

McCain nor Obama can end the right to abortion. I wish they could but they can't. But I like that Obama is going beyond that to stop unwanted pregnancies. These 13-18 year olds have got to stop getting pregnant. Education, prevention, and ABSTINENCE is our only hope. Abortion/life isn't the solution, the solution is not getting pregnant to begin with.

The reason this is the first amendment is because true Christianity was in need of protection from government. Our government was established on the Magna Carta and the Decalogue. No where else will you find these freedoms and liberties they are unique to Christian thought.
