I'll see everyone's "been going to Ocracoke for N years" and raise them going back before I can remember :) My father first started going down there before the Oregon Inlet bridge, and when one had to travel at low tide because there was no road, let alone paved and they were using surplus landing craft no ferry:) I only go back to the late '60's when I was very young, but I can still remember what it was like before municipal water. You could still see the bottom of Silver Lake from the docks.

agreep jp, ive been goin every year since i was 4 months old with my family and our family friends, we part own a house up there that my grandparents bought in the early 80s, sunspace (name of house), i miss the old days where the roads werent paved, nobody knew about it, the beach wide open with barely anyone, now there r all these shoobies that go, a big reason ocracoke was so amazing was because it was undiscovered, and now its #1 beach, it takes away the part of ocracoke i loved so much

Howars Pub is nice but if you want realy good seafood try Cafe Atlantic.

The Flying Melon is good. It is a little cafe of of the main streetof Ocracoke. I personally enjoyed it.
