I think Keith Jarrett also rocks in electric setting. Stuffs he did on the Rhodes and Contempo weren't bad. Why did he quit just because he don't like playing amplified instrument?
@r3ck0rd Keith always looks like he's in complete ecstasy on these live clips. It does always strike me as odd when he's so dismissive of this period. His work with Miles is wonderful.
@pobinr lol "bach is better music than this".. do you got this is from the time life "best of classic composers" CD? sorry guy, but i cant talk to you, because you dont have a clue about classic or jazz. bach. lol.. the guy is great. you make my day man! greetings from the berklee college of music!
@BeatBay I'll stick with Petri & Jarret playing Bach flute sonatas. You can stick this random junk where the sun don't shine thanks. When I want creative imrovised music with a decent level of composition also, I'll listen to Allan Holdworth who's worth 20 Miles Davies's.
@pobinr So basically you're comparing Bach (inventor of modern western music) to Jarret (a pianist with good technique) in a way to gain self esteem.
By doing so you trash the whole afro american musical tradition, throw in Miles Davis which is basically unrelated to Jarret , ending with fusion guitarist Holdsworth without any rational way to prove your point besides "I discovered Bach, everything else just sucks.Btw Holdsworth rocks. But I hate jazz. I hate cliches. But I hate randomness".
@TheBelva85 Why assume it's a way to gain self esteem. It's what I genuinely think/know. I don't give a fuck what anyone thinks. Bach is king. Jazz has become a dead end. It's all been done. Occasionally there's been a flash in the pan in the last 30 years, BrandX, Bruford, Holdsworth, Benson's nice. But modern jazz is the same old cliches/runs over same old extended chords. As for Mozart. He's OK but his polyphony is dumbed down compared to Bach. Mozart uses repeated notes as accompaniment =BS
@pobinr Sir. If you don't really "give a fuck", why you keep answering to comments? Besides I really despise the way you compare Mozart to Bach, it shows your assumption that music is a competition, the "best" wastes the "loser",reduced to "bullshit". While in the rational world there's only one best way to connect point a to point b, art was created to enrich it with colours , as a way to comfort the human brain, from your very own way of thinking.
@TheBelva85 It's pure assumption on your part that it's my assumption that music is a competition. There's no law about making comparisons in any sphere.Or ru the mind police?
Jarret&even Coltrane&Parker are Amoeba compared to Bach.Frankly most of what followed Bach in the classical field is junk.Once you REALLY get into Bach you find that 'non contrapuntal' music frankly sounds half baked especially when it masquerades as classical. Bach is classical music.

@BeatBay You are in effect saying scrub the words 'better' or 'worse' from the English dictionary then.
Of course there's better or worse music.
Bach's music is better than this.
So is the Beatles for that matter.
