  • Killer line up.

    Alex Acuna on drums.

    Tom Canning on pianos.

Is that Steve George and Richard Page of Mr. Mister on vocals?

The Sea Wind horns are the biggest legend in the history of session players.

  • Real music, this!!!!! I love the clip of Richard Page on backing vocals when he was real young!!!! lol!!!!!

  • Can't get enough of the ole' west coast sound of the late seventies and eighties. It's like a rare bird, now.

  • Happy Birthday Al, thanks for all the good music

    Carl

  • He doesn't really look like a 70 year old!

  • What a great performance with all the cats! Check out our westcoast project State Cows. Jay Graydon is playin´ on our upcoming record! Stay smooth!

  • Breakin Away! Gotta love those horns man.

  • My mom went to school with him in Milwaukee. He's older than she is. She was in his brother Marshall's class.

  • 2 country songwriters actually wrote this. Who'd've thought it! LOL!

  • Love his music. What an artist.

  • grande

  • Actually people, from what I can tell this looks like his performance on the early 80s TV show "Friday's"

My friend (sven86) has this video, that's how I know.

  • You can tell by the hairstyle, moustache and clothing of his musicians! Très 80's

  • Hmm, this video copy looks very familiar...

  • BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEST

  • Go Al!!! The most timeless music on the planet!!!

  • LO MEJOR

  • SIMPLEMENTE LO MEJOR

  • Soft and warm, the Majic 108 Quiet Storm! Oh my bad, I was just thinking about how the Quiet Storm used to be off the chain and it was the backdrop for whatever you where going to do with that special someone! I was also thinking about how wonderful it has been to be married for so many years and through the good and bad, we have stayed together and weathered the storms for the sunshine is always shining on our side of the street when the good days come! Peace and thanks the great post!

  • The bass player is George Hawkins....

  • Memories!

  • still a cool song

  • Will someone please post: If I break by

    Al Jarreau.

  • @USMC2105419 ok!! you said it. That's how it should be

  • This song evokes the feeling of love in my heart~ I love it~

  • Anybody knows who plays bass guitar?

  • Also great to see David Paich (Toto) and Jay Graydon!!!!!!!!!! What a band!

  • and you've got Lenny Castro (Jeff Porcaro's percussion right-hand man) on additional percussion. good eye on Paich - the camera doesn't hit him enough to tell that it's him, but I believe you are correct.

  • What a damn good brass section!!

  • more than DAMN GOOD.seriously good music

  • Remember, this album took 3 grammies, Pop, Jazz Male Vocal, and R&B, a first ! Warner Bros. could afford it, believe me...

  • Hey does anyone know who that is playing the horn?

  • Jerry Hey and Chuck Findley live on horns. Larry Williams is on sax. I don't recognize the trombone player. Most likely is Bill Reichenbach

  • anyone know who the alto player is?

  • Definitely Larry Williams

  • yes larry williams

  • you have absolutly no idea of what jazz and a live performance are all about. futhermore you seem to compare human beings to machines without any feelings....

  • Bravo!

  • Geez what a singer!!!!

  • This music is a bit more complicated than the B.B. King Blues songs I've been studying both are fun when you stick to it.

  • Anybody have the SCTV version of Al singing this and Eugene Levy taking the sax ride as Sid Dithers !?! Hilalrious ! And Levy makes his ride seem so real. Thanx.

  • Semplicemente il più grande! Dio benedica Al Jarreau!

  • This is the Al Jarreau that my ears fell in love with back in the early 80´s. Just love it, and it is very much like an old recording I used to have from Rockpalast with him and David Sanborn alternating and performing together as well. If anyone can post that I am eternally grateful.

  • Semplicemente eccezionale!!

  • is that Lenny Castro!?

  • Jeff's groove really made this one

  • Wasn't Bill Champlin in the background of the original version of this song?

  • Isn't the guitarist Mr Graydon himself?

  • you bet that's a really early 80s jay graydon on guitar

  • That's Graydon on guitar. Check out his website. There's more video of him performing and others performing his songs.

  • Money happened ...unfortunately.Now we're stuck with 50cent lol.

  • Yes Al is still around, recently i saw his concert with George Benson, unfortunately seems it sounds more like screaming than singing, i.e. he is loosing Pitch !

  • WOW !!!!!! jay graydon on guitar!!!!!!

  • No wonder Al has a big smile on his face. The band is great. Jerry Hey and the Seawind horns have greatly inspired me and I am still playing today after 38 years. Thanks for this video.

  • I'm from the D too! What about "Boogie Down" by Al Jarreau! Remember how DRQ used to play that to death back in '83 when they were still R&B and tryin' to beat JLB?

  • WDRQ was my station back in the day!! Where are you from? I was Chadsey and eventually from Cooley High.

  • I'm from the westside of the D. On Littlefield near Pembroke btwn 6 and 7 mile roads. In fact I was a jock at WDTJ/WHTD (105.9 Jamz/Hot 102.7)

  • Live in London is one of my all-time favorite albums. I've looked for it on iTunes, but they don't have it.

  • I love him sooooo much never bored .....

  • Where's this performance from?

  • i love this guy, saw him in 1985 at the Montreal Jazz Festival...he was so good. Anita Baker was there also, she was just starting out...

  • I always thought he said, "And like Barry on the mike, it gets sweeter all the time," meaning Barry White. Okay, so it's "berries on the vine...". LOL

  • The trombonist is Bill Reichenbach..

  • or maybe Mark Levine

  • I agree today all the music sounds the same, They just dont make music like this anymore, what a great song

  • beautiful trombone sound on the 2nd tune's intro

  • The Great Alex Acuña (From PERU)on drums.

  • Geat musicianship, if there is such a word.

  • Love it! Still one of the best voices around.

  • You get the sense in 'Breakin Away' that Al is irritated by the sound guys. But at any rate, what a great blast from the past.

  • What more to add to the already great comments here .

    Simply AWESOME !

Truly overwhelmed by this performed set .

Amazing & as crystal clear like on the studio-album .

Tom Canning is jamming loose standing behind his keyboard .

Great background-vocalwork too , even the bassplayer gives his all singing along ... such passion for music .

I've played this clip over & over again ... man ... "Breaking Away" added behind it ... what a tune !

    Trumpetman2000 ... you're the man !

  • that's baby making music that's what that is right there

  • excellent...this is a beautiful arrangment! Damn this man had talent...what's happening these days? no real talent.

  • Hey trumpetman, you're correct, it is Bill Reichenbach on trombone.

    Thanks for this!

  • Alex Acuna on drums, Richard Page and Steve George on background vocals... can't make out the female BG vocalist though. I think it's Exile's bass player on bass.. I know he toured with Al back in the '80's.

  • Awman , you're right Flacobass , THANX ! ... part of the group Pages as background-singers ... great albums they recorded too .

Wow , Al had one heck of an allstar-band in this set .

Man , when the back-up singers sing "Sweeeter alll theee TIIIIME !" in the first performed song .. i lost it there !

  • i think she is vanetta field..

  • simply brilliant! The best band Jarreau has ever had. Truly his golden age! Spotted Jay Graydon, Lenny Castro, Tom Canning. Is that Porcaro on drums?
