As much as I hate to say it, but I believe you're correct. Reason and compassion have never compelled the powerful to do anything, but to make reforms so that they can maintain their power i.e labor rights, civil rights, women's rights, animal rights. Although each respective movement that worked on attaining those specific rights were quite benign in their character because they addressed particular issues that stemmed from the root cause of capitalism. Capitalism is the problem!

Reason and compassion have never compelled the powerful to do anything, but to make reforms so that they can maintain their power i.e labor rights, civil rights, women's rights, animal rights. Although each respective movement that worked on attaining those specific rights were quite benign in their character because they addressed particular issues that stemmed from the root cause of capitalism. I am all for these protests, but TPTB are laughing at this stuff. In about 4 weeks the East and Midwest will be much colder. The protesters will leave those areas when they run out of money, food, warmth and patience.
