I feel it should be mentioned that Jaz Coleman from Killing Joke did the arrangements for this album as it was his idea to do it in the first place - and Youth from KJ produced it too :) Beautiful music btw.
Lol, same thing happened to me the first time I heard it-- "This doesn't sound a thing at all like Pink Floyd! Too bad I bought this crappy C.... Oop, there it is.........."
I Assume Many Floydians Just Like Me Would Enjoy Seing This . The First Time I Ever Heard This Album It Amazed Me , Out of All The Tribute I've Heard This Is Proably The Best One . They've Captured The Emotion Just Right . Don't You Think ?
both good songs but i believe the violin to be a very emotive instrument and captured the ethereal feeling this song evokes. shrill it might be at times its very passionate as well
This is such a cool album :) I need to get it for study time or something. Pink Floyd and classical music? Hell yeah!
They should have had an operatic singer doing some vocals on this though, instead of the violin, which is a little shrill and annoying on the high notes, and not quite as amazingly explosive, more like a background element, and I always found the vocals the most amazing and great part of this song. They're not words, they're an instrumental track!
@bcmummy SHrill?! I think not! played on a proper HI-Fi system in surround sound this is freakin epic. WOnderfully done, a true masterpiece the LSO is the end all be all of Philharmonic orchestra. IMO

Where's the vocals! We need vocals! We need Clare Torry!

That shrill violin makes it sound to lugubriously sad. It's hauntingly beautiful.

This is just... incredible. So emotional, not that the original wasn't, but truly a fantastic adaptation.

It has some hints of baroque style here and there. The first minute particularly.

you're welcome :) On the original, I believe the term for the use of voice is "vocable" singing.
and, I agree about the occasional shrillness of the violin- perhaps they could've used a clarinet and toned it down an octave?
HumbleAntagonist 2 years ago
@bcmummy I agree. The violin, while interesting, just doesn't bring the same full-bodied sound.
