Hi, I bet you hear that ringing all night. I have a 500lb double horn Habermann that rings like that. I got sick of hearing it so I poured in about 100lbs of small 1/4" bolts on the stand and all around the anvil. Finally, some peace from that bell!

@richyearle007 This anvil is a classic German double horned anvil with upset block on the side with the date stamped next to the maker's mark: 1906. The design emerged from medieval anvil forms around 1860 with 2 horns (round and tapered) and a very small upset block. This anvil form was perfected in Germany by 1885 where it continues as the top choice today.

schöner amboss! das steht ausser frage. aber laut aussage von herrn havard bergland, zieht der amboss nicht richtig, da er zu lebhaft ist. er hat einen zu starken hohen klang. das fundament ist zu schwach um die schwingung zu dämpfen. ausserdem macht er das gehör kaputt, da is nix mit schmieden ohne ohrenschutz. ein massiverer holzklotz und etwas teerpappe würden den amboss richtig einstellen.
Put a big magnet (from loudspeaker) on the anvil. That will stop the "ding"
