I felt I've seen a pack that, through safety straps and Molle attaches directly to the vest/plate carrier to avoid interference with the straps. Am I crazy because I can't find one anywhere.
My first and one of my favorite of your videos. When I stumbled across this vid and the backpacking system series a couple years ago I used them exclusively to decide my pack and system for my trips. I know your gun and knife vids are prime time but I'd love to see an updated version of this vid if you somehow find time.
Thanks for thinking about us Australians Nutn. It can be hard to get good gear over here without paying big shipping fees! Some of the providers will not ship to Australia still unfortunately
Only place to purchase the Kelty Tioga 5500. Everyone else is completeley out of stock. Just purchased a Tioga 5500 in blue. Excited happy thrilled that they had them in stock. Here you go TNPr;s!!!!
Want a great backpack? Find a Gregory UM-21 SPEAR backpack system. The UM-21 is/was the backpack for the US Special Forces. It Is *extremely* modular and is very very adaptable. It is also totally well made because it is made in the USA. It is military overbuilt because it is designed to carry 120lbs of equipment in a do-or-die battle scenario, so it *will not* fall apart on you, ever. If you want the end-all-be-all ultimate bug-out bag, the UM-21 is it, hands down.
I just ordered an Icon primer tank bag for my edc. I love the size (Friend has one) its a bit bigger than the fanny pack but not too big to tote all day. The majority of the time I work 20 or more miles from anything so i need to carry just a little bit more stuff than when I'm in town.
what would u recommend high value on a lg to xl. I as well pref the color choices you do and panel storage packs, are there ones that have sleeping bag carrier that doesnt take up real estate that you know of?
Nutn, i'm new to the youtube thing and the shooting thing. Finding you on here have almost affected all buying decisions as far as my new "tactical" thinking. I never even thought of backpacking until i saw your sub zero vids and the WROL kinda work hand in hand so i've just planned my 1st over night backpacking trip with a buddy and i'm sure it'll be difficult but kickass! In a way you've opened my eyes to a "get off your ass" aspect on life and I truely thankyou. Thx dude!
Camelbak Motherlode. I use it for school (university campus, biking to class), traveling, and camping. The pack holds a TON, ans has some good organization. Also, It holds a good amount of water with a good bite valve. I've had the pack for about a year now, and its been nothing but great.
To me, important things are:
- NEEDS to be 1000D Cordura, nothing else is tough enough for the road
- Stitching that meets mil specs
- Pouches or MOLLE webbing for pouches without bulk
Hey nutnfancy, I just got myself a snugpak rocketpak. Have you had a chance to check one of those out, and if you have what is your opinion on it? I would have preferred the lowe alpine sting pak (awsome pak) which is very similar, but they are almost impossible to get in the states.
Kifaru international makes amazing products, mostly because they are made to order and the company allows you to customize them greatly. Although they cost a very pretty penny.
im just getting into backpacking and have learned a lot watching these videos...after watching this review of all these bags though i think i like the old army ruck sack that the M.O.L.L.E system replaced....it was a external system and plenty of room...i would like to try one of these systems too see the difference in weight distribution and stuff just cant afford one.
@cateslife Hey are you talking about the A.L.I.C.E pak? Great design, super durable. The old saying is true with that one, they don't make 'em like they used to. However it does have one big flaw. The shape of the opening for the main compartment is half moon shaped. This creates awkward and cramped access to the main compartment. But it still has other great design features, and also sports probably the best external frame ever made.
eastern mountain sports has a bunch of kelty trekkor 3950 back packs for 140$ but they have a promotion deal tht gets u 20% off of every full price item
Once i heard the song in the beggining , I went to grab my guitar to play along. Playin along to Poison( every rose has it's thorn ) while watching nutnfancy! Awesome
dude you need to do more of these! there is so much gear out there and it changes year to year. this video saved me hours of online searching over a year ago. would love to see these yearly on different items. keep up the good work!!!
Feel free to delete this, but they are having killer deals for the next 3 days on the Camelbak backpacks. I just got the Alpine Explorer for $55. theclymb . com Im me for my invite code so I can get a credit if you buy something. Either way, enjoy the great deal.
Just posting again as i ran out of words (hate the way they limit your replies). Just wanted to say thanks a million for all the reviews on backpacking etc. Very well made videos. Been enjoying ya vids here. very informative. After 2 months research, I recently bought the mother of all backpacks with full accessories and tent that fits in the base of it `easily`. I just thought id say here, to offer people even more scope, Check out the Karrimor Sabre 60-120 bergen with PLCE side pockets and yoke. Theres simply is NOT a better backpack in existence. Compromise is its 8lbs heavy unlaiden. Plus side is - nothin more comfortable on earth. Tent i got was Coleman Avior X2
I pought a kelty peregrine about a month ago and absolutely love it. Found it online for a little over 70 bucks. fantastic pack. The black version is truly black... no other color but black anywhere on the pack. fyi... great review nutn
humm.....129.95$ for the assault pack, thats alot of money for such a bag. I can get the canadian army one for 60$, I guess the quality can only be as good.
Dakine makes some really nice stuff for the price....and most of their backpacks have a lower center of gravity due to them being made for skateboarding and bmxin and snowboardin.
but thats my opinion and i like smaller packs.
my favorite backpack of all time?
Dakine Pivot Pack. its a skateboard pack, built super tough. half the seams are double stitch.
lol glad u contributed here in NP we like to help each oder if the boss ( nutnfancy ) gets to miss something which rarely happens we have each other so thank u and thank u nutnfancy
i bought a good pack at wal-mart. i know i sound stupid but i dont use it as much as u would. i only use it for huntin and carryin clothes. it has a pocket for a hydration pack, 2 things for water bottles, a light built inside, a waist belt, and a whole lot of space. if anybody goes lookin for it, they dont sell it anymore. i dont know who makes it.
I've used just about every ruck starting from an Alice1 and 2 up to the current gen combat ruck.
The most important part is a good solid waist belt. Next are cinch straps across the back so you can squeeze the load down as flat as possible.
For riding I highly recommend a chest strap because the pack can act like a parachute above 40mph. Internal frames don't work for riding because you need to lay down over the tank...
As soon as I saw that Jansport Carson I bought it . I also spent hours looking for an affordable pack that was still reliable . Awesome deal . I hope you never stop making these vids .
hey nutn, i ordered that jansport carson. It is very nice. It is a very good deal for anyone on a budget. If anyone wants a good quality and very capable pack, get it. I still have not used it but trying it on and investigating the layout, i like it.
I live in the city and for college I have an Ogio Metro. I like it because it has three sidepockets that use to store food, drinks, small books and also it has a side zipper laptop pocket on the back which I sometimes use for my magazines or paperbacks. Check it out, your boys might like it. Keep this vid up, even though some packs may be completely sold out, it's good to hear someone's opinion. Many people can learn from you.
I found the Jan Sport Klamath 85 at Amazon"dot"com, only in blue. The Gregory Baltoro 70 is back in stock at SummitHut. The Mountainsmith Maverick I found at SunnySports"dot"com. There is a larger Mountainsmith pack, the Circuit 3.0, that holds 5370 cu. in. and I know has pass through side pockets which I found at Campmor. Thought top loading, it has large pockets on the outside.

you fucking quack do us all a favor and slap your mother cause for not taking the abortion. if you don't like the video than don't be such a fag and post trash.
I just got back from a army surplus!-picked up a alice pack for 29.00-very nice used condition.-then 20.00 for the frame and pads/straps.-I think its good for most general uses-then you can go and outrig the pack to suit your use!-jeenyus!
internal frame has a metal or other hard frame inside the backpack, external has it's frame outside the backpack. My small backpack doesn't have one, but i travel lightweight so i don't need it.
I have the H.A.W.G. by camelbak and it definately looks different than the one in this video. I'm thinking the one you showed is the tactical version or something.... just something to note..
i have been trexing the out of doors for years .. ..for two week trips i use a Eureka! Apollo II .. topend ..back inthe day was $450 internlframe ..but if u are looking for somthing lite .. try a climbing backpack ....
my bags getting 10 years old and still holding up nice .. and i have had 65LB of gear in it many time .. hope i helped out at all
The backpack/rucksack I plan to get is the DG-6 sold at Wiggy's online. It has lots of room, internal frame and the best part is you can take pouches off to customize the pack's size. Great idea! I wish more packs would do that. The 2 little brothers to it are the Snugpak Bergen Tactical Backpack & the Snugpak Rocket Pack System. Found on Vermont's Barre Army Navy online.
As always, another great video Nutnfancy! Every morning I grab some coffee and see what you've done next.
I was at Big 5 yesterday and I *think* I saw the Camelbak AE going for 20 bucks. Didn't buy it though cuz I'm still shopping around and didn't realize what a good deal that was, but I'll be running back up there again to pick a few up *if* I'm correct about the price I saw. Thanks for the vid by the way.
Another awesome educational video showing us the many options to choose from out there. Your vids really are the best in terms of giving us the best for the buck. Thanks a million and keep these great vids coming. Cheers!!!
I didn´t even vote for the man, lol. I was not trying to make it a race issue only stating that all the administrations we´ve had has been corrupted, doing their own little part in a larger plan/agenda. Both candidates I really didn´t care for and the only one that sparked my interest was Ron Paul, alot of points I did agree with.
Word. Ron Paul and his economic adviser Peter Schiff predicted the current financial meltdown back in 2002. A lot of people laughed at them because what they had to say wasn't what the sheeple wanted to hear. Right now we have a mobtocracy and the election has the shallowness of a beauty pageant. Despite their popularity overseas, Obama and his Clintonite administration will spend their way out of America's colossal debt. The federal reserve will destroy the American dollar before 2012.
I'm with you buddie. I don't judge people by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character. I'm american but I freeking grew up in africa color is not an issue for me.
look, even if u think that Obama will bring some *radical* change to America, do u think it was thought up within this new admin.? Collusion through all administrations is at hand not just *one*. Learning survival should be key to every American, not because of one Pres. that sparks deep seeded fear. (And American who happens to be black)
Oh absolutely. My closest friends/family are already talking about an exit strategy. (sad right) Not unless the masses wake up will we be able to over throw 'THEM'. So listen well to Nutn', learn survival skills, and be prepared to leave.
Well I'm sure you and everyone else knows about the NAU and the long term vision 'THEY' have for it. O'bama has been talking change so much, he might be the man that brings it to fruition. Pack your bags and grab your gear, boys!
Yeah, I get that you where being facetious. However, I don't joke about the sovereignty of my country being stolen from us without our approval; and neither should you.
I'm a very stoic person, but that doesn't mean I can't have fun. You should grow up and learn what subjects are appropriate to joke about.
Also, these red neck employees I have look up to organizations like the UAW, so now I fear they'll bring in the union and I won't even have say in salary or positions.
If it comes to that I'll gladly fire them ALL, shut down and move my business else where. My life has more meaning then providing for a community of trash and their whore wives and stupid bastard children.
Just got word that Campmor is having a sale on Internal Frame Kelty Packs. They have the Kelty Redwing 3100 on sale for $59.97, Kelty Red Cloud 5600 $109.97, Women's Coyote 4500 $79.97 and Men's Coyote 4750 $89.97. That is just what is on the flyer, I am sure there are more.
/=) hrmmm. I wonder if Nutnfancy is trying to get us prepaired for somthing at 6:56 All of the insight, advice and preperation. Thank you for your services Sir!
Cool idea you got here, would def like to see this with knives. Love to find the deals. Might drop the trigger on a super tioga for 140. All the features and its size for this price is awesome. i got to do it. Thanks Nutnfancy. Jet
Hey nutn i just wanna let u know...i bought something from yourcornerstore and its been 8 days and no post office know where it is...yeah thats was the last of my money...idk what to do
botach tactical is a HORRIBLE CO. I ordered a knife and waited and waited, then after about 3 weeks I call~and they say..."we don't have that in stock, sry" F*** BOTACH TACTICAL
I bought a day gear ACU bag made buy them. Just used it yesterday on a search and rescue mission. It held up very well. It's built VERY well, and I love all the straps and molle loops
nice vid nutnfancy. different than the traditional review it gave me some great ideas and i think im going to order the jansport that you showed at the end there.
Picked up the JanSport Carson External Frame Pack Pinebox Green this morning per your video, wow super deal! I've been looking for a good external pack and this fit the bill. Thanks so much!
Nutnfancy, thank you for being you, iv learned alot from your videos.

MrRob412 2 years ago
hey nutn, i ordered that jansport carson. It is very nice. It is a very good deal for anyone on a budget. If anyone wants a good quality and very capable pack, get it. I still have not used it but trying it on and investigating the layout, i like it.
thanks for finding it nutn!!

Thanks!

Thought top loading, it has large pockets on the outside.

whats the difference between internal/external frame? thanks
ThatOneGuy8904 2 years ago
internal frame has a metal or other hard frame inside the backpack, external has it's frame outside the backpack. My small backpack doesn't have one, but i travel lightweight so i don't need it.

Hi there dude! I have a few simple remarks. The big fat Kelty (never heard of it in the UK):
1. It looks very round, an unatural body shape?,
2. It seems to stick out quite a distance from the body?,
3. The main portion seems to not have a diret top opening to it, restriting access.
4. It just looks difficult to hike with due to the distribution of the weight not folloewing the nturl contors of the body, am I right?
But hey if you're strapping army type dude then it's maybe perfect for you!

My Kelty, Tioga Super from Campmor just arrived. I got it for under 140.000 bucks. Thanks for the web site..
zzerepr 3 years ago

I didn´t even vote for the man, lol. I was not trying to make it a race issue only stating that all the administrations we´ve had has been corrupted, doing their own little part in a larger plan/agenda. Both candidates I really didn´t care for and the only one that sparked my interest was Ron Paul, alot of points I did agree with.
fiskking 3 years ago
The federal reserve will destroy the American dollar before 2012.
yannchambrier 3 years ago 2
I'm with you buddie. I don't judge people by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character. I'm american but I freeking grew up in africa color is not an issue for me.
1022JB 3 years ago
look, even if u think that Obama will bring some *radical* change to America, do u think it was thought up within this new admin.? Collusion through all administrations is at hand not just *one*. Learning survival should be key to every American, not because of one Pres. that sparks deep seeded fear. (And American who happens to be black)

Oh absolutely. My closest friends/family are already talking about an exit strategy. (sad right) Not unless the masses wake up will we be able to over throw 'THEM'. So listen well to Nutn', learn survival skills, and be prepared to leave.
Jsimp0487 3 years ago
Well I'm sure you and everyone else knows about the NAU and the long term vision 'THEY' have for it. O'bama has been talking change so much, he might be the man that brings it to fruition. Pack your bags and grab your gear, boys!
Jsimp0487 3 years ago
@Jsimp0487
I got my survival gear ready Jsim. I am prepared to leave.
Just one question about the NAU...
What does a bunch of red neck trailer trash students from Northern Arizona University have to do with the demise of America?
I am guessing, they will run us down with their gas guzzling Ford F250 pickup trucks?
solobackpacking 3 years ago
wonderful display of ignorance...
NAU = North American Union
And it's not a conspiracy thing, it's a factual thing... paperwork has already been signed.

Wow, are you really this dense in real life?
It was a joke...
I bet your the life of the party in social gatherings... if ever you get invited.
solobackpacking 3 years ago
Yeah, I get that you where being facetious. However, I don't joke about the sovereignty of my country being stolen from us without our approval; and neither should you.
I'm a very stoic person, but that doesn't mean I can't have fun. You should grow up and learn what subjects are appropriate to joke about.
AaronAlso 3 years ago
I am more aware then most here.
I have millions invested.
My employees are mostly foul mouthed, bad attitude trailer trash.
I am unhappy about a lot of things...
Especially at the blind patriotism of the American consumer that made our economy weak and lazy.
One thing is for sure, our political leaders and our business leaders are worthless. Them and their million dollar villas in France.
Companies and politicians love hiding behind the american flag. And we go for it.
solobackpacking 3 years ago
I agree they talk big shit but dont pull the trigger..........
aaron5544 3 years ago
Also, these red neck employees I have look up to organizations like the UAW, so now I fear they'll bring in the union and I won't even have say in salary or positions.
If it comes to that I'll gladly fire them ALL, shut down and move my business else where. My life has more meaning then providing for a community of trash and their whore wives and stupid bastard children.
