Just wondering, if you can export in microsoft office format can you edit/convert from microsoft office documents. E.G, if I was working on a document with a friend, he was using office and I was using iWork, could I open his document in iWork/convert the office document into an iWork file? Please somebody answer if you can.
I don't know because if there is one program in Windows that I have really gotten used to and have already mastered it's Microsoft Office, especially the 2007 and 2010 versions. I can't imagine using any other office suite.
@aishaxoxobela There is MS Office for Mac 2011, it's the latest version. It's interface is quite different from Office 2007 or 2010 for the PCs but I think the features are more or less the same, the difference is in the look and feel of the program. However, if you really want to use the Office suite for the PCs, you can just run Windows on your Mac (Paralles or VMWare) and install the MS Office for Windows there or a less convenient way would be just to use boot camp.
Some genius you are. MS Office and iWork aren't comparable.
Office is simply the best. If you wanted to compare them, then wait till Apple adds applications like, Access; which is the main app used by professionals!! Not to mention, Publisher, OneNote, Visio. If you are falling for eye-candy effects, I can see that, as you appreciate icons, and have no idea how to work the apps; you really have no idea what you are talking.
Given, many reasons. You fail to comprehend that a MS Office suite can do a huge number of things that iCrap can't. Bloating about illegal software consumption on YT? You BOUGHT mediocre office applications, while you got that and other office applications bundled up in torrent? Just like this guy here, in the video, you think he ever used office apps in his life? He couldn't even give a goddamn demo! Could only tell that iWorks has better icons.
As a physics undergrad, I must say that iWork quickly falls short when compared to Office. From Word Processing (Much nicer interface in inserting mathematical type) to Excel (FAR easier to generate complex graphs), Office definitely outshines iWork, by a long shot.
@Shariqwaseem the Mac version of Office 2007 is called Office 2008. Just like how the Mac version of Office 2010 is called Office 2011. Maybe do your research before you call someone an asshole, asshole.
just got a macbook pro and the lady told me to get this and i did and im glad i did cuz i had no idea the macbook doesnt come with a thing that lets u write papers!!
When I bought my imac os 10 in January, I had to return it for credit as their tech support could not fix it. However, I did like the imac and am thinking about purchasing it again. I had them load Word 2010 for mac's but I did not care for it as it is very different from the Word for pc's. Your video tutorial is very good. I am glad I found it on YT. When I order my next imac, I don't think I will get Word, I think I'd much rather have Pages! Thanks for this wonderful video.
more options than office??? are you kidding? it's certainly easier and cleaner to work with but don't kid yourself office is definitely a more professional suite....track changes, pivot tables etc.. and you say that the fact iwork can save in word format proves it's better than office? If you only need this level of complexity then google docs will do, hell, even microsoft office online is a better option as it is also free!
@g0rsk13g4n9st4 why buy iwork when google docs is free?:) really don't understand you people, there are 2-3 products free as good as iwork and ms office... but it's your money
@fulgatgv because my campus network is unreliable I genuinely need dedicated software for word processing and presentations. I use google docs as well, btw.
if i make an elaborate presentation on ilife, will powerpoint distort it and vice versa?? I know that open office distorts powerpoints and vice versa. It was a huge problem when I went to present at my school
im thinking of getting a macbook pro...but my current PC have a lot of Words and Powerpoint documents coz im a student...can all my documents transfer into mac, and will mac read it exactly like Word and Powerpoint ? how can i share my Pages document with my friends and lecturers if they're using PC Word ? will their PC Word read Pages document ?
great vid, i am thinking of buying one the new version 21.5 inch, and wondered if iwork is like microsoft word and excel and powerpoint as i am used to that, so yeah thanks :D x
Very well done. I don't have a Mac but I've been wanting one for some time now. This really helped to show the benefits of iWork over MS Office. I want a Mac sooooo bad now that I see how good they are. Even just the way things move makes me excited. Keep making videos, man!
I emailed a story to myself at home so I could continue working on it at home. In the email I opened where the story was. I copied and pasted this so I could put it in work document. I had a really hard time pasting the entire story. What did I do wrong?
@TechThoughts well you can use Textedit for writing like you can with word pad.You can save textedit writings as PDF without any software when you certainly need a PDF converter like cutepdf or something to do so on windows.Apparently windows doesn't come with Microsoft word or office and it will cost you £109 where iWork will cost u £65.I've Ms office and iWork both for my mac.I own a PC also but i must say mac is a brilliant os.if you don't want buy word for mac then you can use an emulator
Hi there I have a new Mac for my business. There are documents that I can't access off of certain websites. I'm guessing they need Microsoft word to open, but I want to buy IWork not Microsoft word. Will the documents open with iWork or do I need word? Thanks

thank you very much for the nice introduction to iwork!
however,i've still got too little questions.first, can you save keynote documents in microsoft pps format? And secondly I really like your wallpaper,is it standard on a mac or could you please tell me where I can get it?thx again!
I would like to create an online tutorial with photos and step by step instructions. I want to be able to email this to people who purchase it. Which program would I use.. Iwork or keynote? I have both and can't really get around it well enough to figure it out. Where in these programs would i find instructions on how to create what I want. I tried the help section and it just takes me in circles.. I guess lets start with my first question which is what program is it..?
Question? I am getting a Mac for highschool and have never had a Mac. Is iWork like Microsoft Word? Can you type documents and print them? I watch some of the video and got confused. please respond
@SoCalAirs0ft yes its like word, just laid out differently. you can print, edit, and copy documents..the entire microsoft office is on there..except for access and maybe a few other programs, but its really easy to get accustomed to, trust me you'll love it!
Ive recently got a macbook pro 13" the 2.4 ghz, but ive got a quick question, could I use my 22" monitor with it? or would the video card cont be eable to handle it?
Also, if i buy the software and for some reason I have to reformat my mac for whatever reason, would i be eable to re-install the software i bought?
So Im planning to get a mac book pro. But then I was worried to hear that MS office for mac is poorly developed. Then I was thinking that if its possible to install MS office 07 home n student for windows to a mac. Or do I have to dish out an extra $80 for iwork?
Can you save or transfer your work into office or Microsoft format for example email your work to your teacher and have it sent in Microsoft format so when they open it they can open it in word or power point or publisher?
@AppleGenius0921 so after exporting it, the document is still in the mac version right? so can we convert it to windows version in order to send the document to windows users?
Are the fonts similar to the fonts in ms word ?

Hey, I'm new to iMac's and I was wondering before I bought this;
Could I use the word document to write essays for school and print them normally? Just like Microsoft Word would do?
Or should I just go and get microsoft word to do that.

Can you save or transfer your work into office or Microsoft format for example email your work to your teacher and have it sent in Microsoft format so when they open it they can open it in word or power point or publisher?
fehnfan95 1 year ago
@fehnfan95 Yes, just export/save it to a different format

@AppleGenius0921 so after exporting it, the document is still in the mac version right? so can we convert it to windows version in order to send the document to windows users?
