The REAL reason he was book is because the penalty kicker may only have ONE attempt to kick the ball, if he misses, or in this case kicks the ground, he MAY NOT kick the ball, another player has to. He kicked the ball again before another player could kick it and that is illegal which warrants a yellow card.
