Hey EB, thas ok cuz Panchito luv you very much. I luv you so much I'm gonna get me a tequila and think some more about it! Ha, ha, your friend Panchito the Great!
That's a future project, the cd thing. Thanks for reviewing them song again and disregard the flubs! ha, ha. Panchito is as rascalish as ever - he thinks he is a big time director now. I think its time for detox. . . Johnny
It is my honor and pleasure! Best steel guitar song ever - wherever there is a steel guitar you can be sure Mapuana will be played and remembered. Regards to the Sang ohana! Thank you for dropping by and commenting! Johnny Pal
Back at ya! This is one of the first songs you play on steel guitar at luaus - it is so gorgeous! Mahalo for the kind comments. Johnny & Panchito, or is it Panchito and Johnny?
Hey 25, thanks. Yes, Panchito insists on being in every video and its a challenge to find him sometimes. Believe it or not, I used to use him on stage over 20 years ago. He is so delicate we are afraid to send him to the cleaners. Got a few beer and food stains here and there. Otherwise he's in good shape. I know, silly talking about a puppet but we can fantasize if we want to. Take care now. Johnny
Brah Mahi, we all have your Dad to thank for this pearl of a song - it is truly instantly likeable and wherever there is a steel guitar playing you can bet Mapuana will be played, if not as the first song. I just love to perform it at luaus - crank up da steel and let her go! You are instantly transported into the charm of the islands. This particular version is from an arrangement by the great Henry Kaleialoha Allen. Mahalo nui loa fo drop by Mahi! Johnny Pal of MangoDaville
It on the same CT Fiddlers Club page with Johnny Mello's.
Yes, Brian plays lead Guitar,Base, Electric Fiddle, Dobro, and Steel. I envy you and them for all the work that goes into it. I can really tell when it's true musician because I can see it in their faces how much they love and respect their instruments. Like I said I envy you too.
Do you play the Dobro too? Another friend of ours Brian plays one. He is another member of the Fiddle club with Johnny M. Did you hear Brian play "No One Will Ever Know" on his Dobro? He also plays the Steel and a Electric Fiddle.
Yeah, the dobro and steel are basically played the same way. Boy I hate those talented guys who do all that stuff! I really struggle, ha, ha. I'll try to find Brian's song.
Johnny, what a fabulous song, love your preformance on this one. You're so natural and relaxed on camera. Well off to another one of your songs.~~Yes, I listen to KEALI'I REICHEL singing HANOHANO 'O MAUI too.
Thanks Gloria: The composer, Lani Sang (male) wrote it for his baby daughter whom he named, "Mapuana." It is a luau favorite. Thanks as always for your supportive comments!
No, its non alcoholic and is a delicious mixture of grape, berry and and grape skins, etc. You should really take a look at it. Good luck with it. Johnny & Panchito
Hey eb/cp, we'll do Rose Marie one day, don't you nary fret! It would be interesting to see how many views it would get (of course discounting yours!, ha, ha). Johnny and Panchito
Oh how nice to know that you missed me. ha ha ha! We were all away in TN and Georgia. While in TN we saw four shows. I am happy to be home because while away my back flared up to the worse it has even been.
I missed you and Panchito very much. How is all with you two?
Thanks for your concern.
Love ya, EB/CP
PS: I guess you can't help but miss me because I bug you a lot. ha ha ha!
Great. Panchito is learnin the 12 steps to get off that tequila! Hey, as far as your back goes, I strongly recommend you grab about 3 bottles of a wonderful product called,'FRUT A VIE" It is a sweet grape-juice made from the amazing acai berry that grows in rain forests. Both my arms hurt like he-- for months, I think it was the onset of bursitis or arthritis. I drank a small amount of Frut A Vie for two months and 90% of the pain left. Its $25 a bottle but worth it. Hope you try it. Johnny
Hi EB/CP. Yes, it is a 1957 National Console double neck steel guitar. One neck is tuned to C6 and the other to B11 (sound like greek?). Not too shabby for an Ebay baby. U take care. Johnny & Panchito
So glad you made it to E Hula Mau yesterday, I hope you enjoyed watching and listening to all the entertainment. Weren't those snow cones great (shave ice), Hawaiian style. Look forward to seeing you at the next function at Lahaina. Bring da family! Mahalo! Johnny Pal
Thank you , then I guess it can be applied to my relationship with you Johnny Pal and Panchito , cause I love ya both. Now I am going back to listen to Boil them Cabbage down.
The composer, the gifted Lani Sang, wrote it for his daughter who was named "Mapuana." It is a lovely, moving steel guitar favorite. The lyrics can also be applied to any loving relationship and in fact, that is how most listeners perceive it. Thanks for asking! Johnny & Panchito
Hey JP, I was trying to learn this song and just to make sure:
