I could never hear the song in it's entirity because I busy going to college, jetting off to work at a restaurant then partying allnight in Austin or El Paso. But I had craved to hear it. My crowd was house muzik. Notwithstanding the break in the track at 242-257 haunted me for years somewhat arousing a slight panic assault. I always had this album on the backburner to purchase but life gets in the way. The lryics are dead on Bruce. Thank you. Perhaps back then I was not mature enough to Get It.

Bruce Springsteen as a wordsmith has never been a problem; I think he's immensely talented. Where I've had problems with him has been his music; I've found it a little lame and, in some cases, childish. With this song, however, his music has risen to the level of his amazing lyrics. Couple those 2 with the visual metaphor of comparing a relationship with a visit to the decaying Asbury Park amusement park, and you've got an absolutely amazing song video. Finally, Bruce got it right...

The carousel that he walks by was actually was left over from a movie being shot in A.P. at that time & is no longer there.
