  • Thank you local radio! I would have never remembered this one without you. Thats the influence of radio!

  • Over 3 years after uploading this video and only ~140,000 views? I see the live version has somewhat more, but still. I've always had the utmost respect for Springsteen's music, but for whatever reason it has never really appealed to me--except for this song.

  • 1988

  • This has to be his best song ever, I sit and listen to this over and over. Bruce is one of those artists who will never die in popularity. 50 years from now people will still know who you're talking about when you say, "Bruce Springsteen." Regardless of who comes and who goes in rock over the years, Bruce Springsteen was and will always remain, "THE BOSS."

  • Bruce has a very unique voice. There is nothing like it. :)

  • He sings the way he talks.

  • Bruce rocks.......

  • nice that after 20 years people are commenting every day (every few hours) on this....lol...i am thinking of todays "stars" lol, who will be listening to their "gems" every day in a few years...bruce is a good one !

  • @fuzzypige222 today's artists are already forgotten by me. And by most of the rest of us, it appears. Look at the top 10 shows from last year: dominated by groups/singers like Bruce. Yesterday's heroes easily pushing aside today's best. I love it !!!

  • I dig the wooden rollercoaster at the end, Ocean City, New Jersey

  • this song is sooo amazing on soo many Levels The Words and the music is just amazing and A amazing Love Song hes such an amazing man and hes lucky that he has an amazing wife a women that he can call his friend love you tell the day i die Bruce Springsteen

  • "you got to learn to live with what you can't rise above".............

  • This song is my favorite by Bruce; solely because of the lyrics "You've got to learn to live with what you can't rise above". On July 28th, 2007, our 37 year old son, Chad, was murdered...

  • @sauquoit13456 So sorry.

  • @sauquoit13456 I am so very sorry for your tragic loss. May he rest in peace.

  • @PrincessofPower84 Thank you for your kind words; every day it gets easier and easier, but never better!!!

  • Still love this song.....

  • This Bruce at his best.

  • @ObamaChineseOwned You mean black and beautiful...

  • @ObamaChineseOwned AMEN!!!

  • I could never hear the song in it's entirity because I busy going to college, jetting off to work at a restaurant then partying allnight in Austin or El Paso. But I had craved to hear it. My crowd was house muzik. Notwithstanding the break in the track at 242-257 haunted me for years somewhat arousing a slight panic assault. I always had this album on the backburner to purchase but life gets in the way. The lryics are dead on Bruce. Thank you. Perhaps back then I was not mature enough to Get It.

  • beautiful song.:-)

  • the song that is and only (beginning) of video just with Bruce!

  • like this 1

  • have not heard this in a long time

  • great song, one of his best.

  • most springteen tours are

  • a really great tour

  • My fave Bruce song...I am from Jersey and he is like a God here. I even love the video, not your typical cheesy 80's vid. Love it!!!!!!!!

  • Awesome song from Bruce, one of his best!

  • @leslie0965 yea i like a few songs this is one of them this would be a good song to sample and i was born in 83

  • fyi to all the video was shot in asbury park where is was born and raise so get the facts right i would know i'm a true jersey girl not the freak ones who have a tv show that show dont have shit on the real jersey ppl

  • i'm not a bruce fan but this song is the shit ! gotta agree with several other comments that this is the best song he ever did. brilliant disguise is his second best song for me but born in the usa is one of the most annoying songs i ever heard. like guns and roses sweet child o mine it embarasses me to be within earshot of that noise.

  • This is the best song from Bruce Springsteen!!!

  • Thanks for posting this song in LP form. Prior the only posts where of the live version.

  • AWESOME SONG!....brings back many memories as a song like THIS should!!!

    G'day!

  • una de mis canciones favoritas de todos los tiempos

  • How can you deep throat a sword & not kill yourself?

  • @bucky468 ur still here ain't ya

  • @69dendog Nice try slick but I'm not that crazy or dumb.

  • well, Bruce Springsteen grew up in Asbury Park, NJ. i think that could have something to do with the location of the video. just saying. lol :)

  • A+ song and video.

  • his best

  • Heaven became a whole lot cooler when Clarence went there.

  • @BenDaMan85 I believe it was coney island.

  • Was this video shot in Jersey Shore or Coney Island?

  • @BenDaMan85 My bet, and hope, would be it was shot on the Shore. I wonder if the "tunnel" he is in is the big pier building in Asbury Park,

  • just a note mommy Seattle John..., he has sold 260 million albums...so who the fk are you??? wipe the most recent round of drool off your shirt and stuff the hankie in your pocket for tomorrow, maybe its you who dont ---- get it

  • Bruce Springsteen as a wordsmith has never been a problem; I think he's immensely talented. Where I've had problems with him has been his music; I've found it a little lame and, in some cases, childish. With this song, however, his music has risen to the level of his amazing lyrics. Couple those 2 with the visual metaphor of comparing a relationship with a visit to the decaying Asbury Park amusement park, and you've got an absolutely amazing song video. Finally, Bruce got it right...

  • @Seattlejohn001 gee your too smart to talk to us...please leave us alone and let us immerse ourselves in our lonely depression..thanks for the condescension..you're too kind my leige...please go fuck your mom and keep your "lame" opines in a book of proverbs that no one will ever read...who are you to give your opinion on Bruce Springsteen??? give your opinions to your sister, she will nod for you you poor listless fuk

  • @fuzzypige222 What's the matter, unable to deal with someone who's got an IQ in triple digits? I don't know why you have a problem with comments that are somewhat metaphorical, but it is your problem none the less. Get therapy; you need it.

  • adorei......adoro tudo do bruce......

  • Great song! Brings me back to the days growing up in Queens N.Y.

  • This is what makes Bruce great. He deiivers wonderful songs year after year and every so often, he nails one to the wall. Tunnel of Love nails it to the wall.

  • Song is so full of metaphor and should stand as a lesson to those who find continual failure at a lasting commitment with another.

  • I too am not a big Springsteen fan, but love this song.

  • @ 2:03 to 2:42 best damn guitar solo he ever did, damn he sustains it for 39 seconds. Great song and great video.

  • Once in a Lifetime, you meet a Dove flying through this world with an Eagle Heart.

It may not be a tough heart, but it is The Heart of an Eagle.

Eagle Hearts are seekers of Eagle Hearts.

Thus the affectionate " Heart Seeker " name given to me by Cherokee Native Little Storm.

  • "When the lights go out it's just the three of us, yeah,

you and me and all that stuff we're so scared of."

  • I despise Bruce Springsteen but I always loved this one particular song. EPIC!!!!!!

  • @Jarrodboy How can you despise the BOSS!!! LOL

  • @Jarrodboy Dude, how can you despise the Boss?

  • Im getting married for the 2nd time in 12 days to a guy I went to hs with and its wonderful but I have wonderful memories of 1988 with JAT(who I lived with for 5 yrs) this was our song and life can be hard, but it somehow works out. I just enjoy TOL now for the memories!!! Thank you Fuzzypige!!!! Hugs & alll the Best!!! Elizabeth

  • Bruce's best era!

  • CLARENCE CLEMONS Was the best saxaphone player rock has ever seen. RIP!!

Let's all have a piece of FEDERICI'S Pizza in Freehold and remember his work!

  • @buffetttown Sorry for Clemons, death..great saxman..but Roxy Music's Andy Mackay can do more with the reed..A bit more fluid..A lot more inventive...

  • This LIFE is haunted and the ride does, indeed, get rough sometimes!

  • Rockaway Beach Queens N.Y !

  • at some age you will live this

  • A hauntingly beautiful song.

  • @chase21322 very true....it has a darkness about it that i like.....a kinda soulful feel to it...

  • If i could come back as one of history's all-time Man's Man it would be one of the following...Tom Selleck---Honest Abraham "Abe" Lincoln---or The Boss......Wish I could somehow role them all into one. That would be the shit!

  • love the words & Patty's backround vocals : )

  • To my great love of my 20s John Antonio Toth (Tony) this is our song it will always be it was in 1988 when we broke up for 16 yrs, got back together for five years from 2005- 2010 and now we are broken up forever nothing can take our song away!!! I love you Always deep down even though now you chose to be alone and Im getting married!!! This song will b a memory for me!!! Love you!!! Elizabeth Buster

  • @lizzardsgumby81 life is a wonderful high and low...several as it were..every chapter and verse...hope you get to a good place my friend on the train....ok ok silly thing..on the same train

  • He is my alltime favourite Rockstar!!!

  • While there are many MANY great Springsteen songs, this is by far my favorite. Love the lyrics, the beat, the music, everything.

"And youve got to learn to live with what you can't rise above if you want to ride on down in through this tunnel of love"

    So damned true!!

  • pure soul....your exact on that!!

  • fucking love clarence

  • ride is rough, no doubt. I'm tougher than the rest though....

  • Where did the band get E Street from

  • @mkoepp66 As far as I know, they practiced at a house on E Street in Belmar (or that may be South Belmar...Excuse me "Lake Como") I don't know about this, and I could be wrong.

  • Why have I seen 2 comments on Bruce vids that say R.I.P? As far as I know as of 8/27/2011 he's fine! Oh by the way this is my favorite Bruce song, one of the very few songs I never get sick of.

  • @mrmjg20 its cuz clarence clemons bruce's sax player passed away recently

  • @TheCat1dog I did not know that, thanks

  • @mrmjg20 maybe the RIP was for the Big Man?

  • In my opinion, his best song ever!!

  • RIP BIG MAN LOVE U

  • The Boss hit #9 in Billboard, 2-6-88. God bless ya, for postin' it. Thanx! Have a great weekend. RIP, Big Man.

  • First time I heard this on the radio, I thought "I hate this kind of music." Then it got to the :25 mark and from then on it was my favorite Springsteen song.

  • Best song ever

  • Every line in this song is perfect, intense romantic confusion at its best. Reminds me of Blood on the Tracks.

  • MAN MEETS WOMAN AND THEY FALL IN LOVE BUT YOU GOT TO LIVE WITH WHAT YOU CANT RISE ABOVE....SHOULD ONLY BE THAT EASY....

  • I was never a big fan of Bruce, but I love this song.

  • i love Bruce!!!

  • Been there done that!!!

  • AHHHHHHHHHHH 4 People dont have taste.

  • @LennysComet 4 justin beiber fans stumbled in here by accident, expecting inane worthless bubblegum pop, and instead found a highly crafted amazing song about love, marriage and life. No wonder they didn't like it...

  • second only to rosalita in terms of his best efforts; just a tremendous song and tremendous lyrics.

  • I ALWAYS THOUGHT SPRINGSTEEN WAS OVER-RATED BUT AFTER HEARING THIS SONG I'M COMPELLED TO CHANGE MY TUNE..TRULY BRILLIANT..IT TAKES ME IN..VERY EMOTIONAL WHEN I LISTEN...AGAIN, A GREAT SONG FROM A TRULY GREAT ARTIST..

  • For me the "Tunnel of Love" is a metaphor for marriage and tribulations of such. "Its' easy for two people to lose each other". As the hum drum days of life role along married couples lose each other along the way until one day you wake up and find you have lost the person you began the journey with....somewhere in the Tunnel of love...

  • His best song ever - for me anyway....its man and woman and the eternal relationship.

  • I love this song so much

  • @TreyTheHunter4 its poetry in motion...

  • Hauntingly Beautiful

  • Classic!....thanx for post bru

They just marinate.....till were ready for em :)

  • a homage to his beloved Asbury Park.these days is so much nicer!

  • Awesome song with an emotional video. Life may get strange, but if you travel down that "tunnel" with someone special, and if you want to travel down that "tunnel," then maybe love can settle on something that will bring a sense of well being.

  • You guys are right bitter sweet song, past relationships big time. But song is so beautiful

  • Great song . . .horrible video. Shame!!!!

  • Bruce, The Boss !

  • this video get me high, amazin, when a get out my work put in the car cross the

high way, my soul and my mind come back..

  • @skifan07 That last part was Bruce exiting the Casino on the Asbury side & heading into Ocean Grove. The carousel that he walks by was actually was left over from a movie being shot in A.P. at that time & is no longer there. Also the Casino theatre that he was shot playing in the vid is no longer there. Yep...a great song indeed!

  • He obviously misses the Jersey Shore of the past. So do I. Today its filled with mcmansions, metrosexuals, assholes, or losers trying to be like that stupid MTV show. That show was the LAST thing that we needed.

  • None of the liver versions can compare

  • My favorite song by The Boss, also. Kind of reminds me of ever relationship that I have ever been in, especially marriage.
