  • for a mere second...i thought it was malaysian. but when it made sense (post yasmin ahmad).. i realised it was singaporean..

    great vid tho. good message

  • so touching;(

  • she got the fart joke from Good Will Hunting

  • The (young) guy on the picture is Xian Lim! I love him!

  • One of Malaysia's greatest filmmaker. You'll always be missed, Yasmin Ahmad.

  • made me cry. :((

  • why do i keep watching this? man this is s0o0o00o0o0o freakin sad

  • "beautiful imperfections make a relationship perfect."

Never get tired of this video.

  • this a great video, I am a funeral director in sydney Australia and i am always asking clients and freinds to watch your video as its very reall and moving

    great support

    regards Antony

  • He is dead?

  • @jpsmart59 Its a commercial.

  • Вот такую социальную рекламу нужно делать! Чтобы вышибало слезу!

  • I've watched it so many times and it still made me cry each time ... SHE is great!

  • Damn, that was sad....

  • Finally, something good on mediacorp television. What a miracle.

But seriously, this was really well-made. Simple words that convey a powerful message.

  • i always use this video for my talk about THE FAMILY

  • Theres always someone who is crazy and dislikes something, just accept it people and move on...

  • thank you for the beautifull message .It touch my heart .Hope you find peace with the memories as i did

    tazzman

  • Awesome. 感動しました。Any one know what the musical piece is?

  • WHAT HOE WOULD DISLIKE THIS?!

  • I love the multi-cultured aspect, her husband is Chinese? I keep assuming Korean for some reason.

  • @skyesfallin Chinese, it's a Singapore film . :)

  • Even though it is just a commercial I started tearing... A very fundamental thought conveyed in the most simplest form, that could make anyone cry... ... and think about ...

  • That was really beautiful.

  • teary eyed

  • I was supposed to be doing my coursework, I stumbled upon this video... and it made me cry. In a good way. What a fantastic message in such a short amount of time.

  • The "MCYS Singapore" Channel has a much better quality of this same video.

  • so meaningful!!

  • This is very nice :'3 ♥

  • Last year I went to a funeral of a 62YO woman in our theatre group.

It was a lovely & well-attended send-off, but there was a guy sitting at the back who removed his coat to reveal a T-shirt saying “I shagged [deceased’s name] in 1982!!” Obviously this upset everyone, but he could not be persuaded to remove it or go.

Turns out he was a genuine old flame that some 2-bit TAXPAYER-FUNDED counsellor had encouraged to “confront his past” with ridiculous stunts like this…

  • i love you mommy.....i really do...i miss you....

  • a bit late for comment but I always says that the Late Kak Min, has always been brilliant in directing movies, films, that address the current affairs.

    This one is well done.

  • Is this real funeral?

  • what a commercial...wow!!!!

  • a bit chessy, but this is a pretty effective reminder for all of us to cherish our love ones, and to enjoy the family bond while you still can!

  • made me cry, even though it's kinda cheesy...

  • -Oh, Christ. But, Will, she's been dead two years and that's the shit I remember.

It's wonderful stuff, you know? Little things like that.

Yeah, but those are the things I miss the most. Those little idiosyncrasies that only I knew about. That's what made her my wife.

2/2 Boy, and she had the goods on me too. She knew all my little peccadillos. People call these things "imperfections," but they're not.

    That's the good stuff.

    Good Will Hunting (1997)

  • Comment removed

  • cheesy...

  • Has no one in Singapore seen Good Will Hunting? Shameless ripoff.

  • What do you think happens after we die?

  • So impressive moment to me she make me cry too

  • inspired by a scene in good will hunting..

  • 'Have You Preserved Your Love For Your Children and Loved Ones?' view on utub e

  • awww man!!! she made me cry...... D:

  • magic of music most of my didn't notice yo have been brain washed! ta - ta ra taa daa

  • Already been a year since a watched this, but still get goose bumps and cry a bit lol.

  • So if anyone says something, no one is allowed to ever say it again? Is that what we're going for here?

  • that is the best funeral speech ever! it almost made me cry

  • Just amazing.

  • Simply touching, simply a copycat on Good Will Hunting.

  • This is exactly what Robin William said in Good Will Hunting. Anyone know which came first?

  • Simply outstanding. Words fail me.

  • Sounds to me like he had sleep apnea rather than just simple snoring... maybe that's what killed him?

  • the speech about the "imperfections" reminds me of the film Good Will Hunting. didn't the professor say the same things about his wife?

  • @jasdav182

    it was the therapist

  • so touching!

  • How poignant.

  • It's so hard to believe that the government of a major country is behind this campaign. Here in America this could never be shown. Too heteronormative. An American version of this commercial would have the speaker be the black gay "husband" of a dead white gay man, and instead of kids they'd have Asian and Hispanic lesbians (one of whom would be in a wheelchair) gather around him in the end.

It's nice to know there's still one country on earth that's not batshit crazy.

  • @plymouthbelvedere You are SO right. I'm an American living in Japan and being immersed in this culture has thrown me into a state of mourning for all Americans have lost. These people value their families, their elderly, and have honor, dignity, and respect. They are the kindest people on earth and I hope they never become fully westernized after what it has done to us. I'm sad that I have to leave here in 2 years for the land of Lady Gaga and gay love again. We've lost our heart and soul.

  • This may make you cry... A Beautifully Imperfect Relationship. Video from Singapore MCYS? Maybe a perfect lovely marriage shall be like this... We must understand: No one is perfect.

  • beautiful...........made me cry.

  • beautifully imperfect !

  • OMG!!

  • really suck...

    nice one*

  • i don't care what people say about this from good will hunting or what. if it did'nt touch your heart I don't know what could.. shadowdusk said its melodramatic delivery sucked... well i don't wanna be the judge here but if you consider the time frame this is recent as it is a funeral... it can be dramatic... and on good will hunting it was'nt..

  • Sweet.....

  • most touching commercial i have ever seen beautiful xxx

  • In the end, it's these small things that you remember, little imperfections? That made them perfect ..for you.

So to my beautiful children, I hope one day you two find yourselves beautiful life partners who are as beautifully imperfect as your father was ..to me.

  • There was also this rear-end wind action going on as well.

Some nights, he would be so forceful, it would wake him up.

" What was that?" he would ask.

"Oh, it's the dog" I would say, "go back to sleep, dear."

Oh, you might find this all very funny.

But towards his end of his life, when his illness was at its worst.

This sounds indicated to me that my David was still alive.

And what I wouldn't give is just to hear the sounds before I sleep.

  • I am not going to sing praises for my late husband. Not today.

Neither am I going to talk about how good he was. Enough people had done that here.

Instead I would want to talk about things that would make some of you feel uncomfortable.

First of, I want to talk about what happened in ..bed.

Have you ever had difficulty starting your car engine in the morning?

Well, that was exactly what David snoring sounded like.

    But wait, snoring wasn't everything.

  • I thought Robin Williams said it better in Good Will Hunting, which this is ripped right from

  • Welling up.....

  • i feel like they took this from Good Will Hunting

  • That went from nothing to tear jerking in the span of a couple sentences.

  • A wonderful acknowledgement and accolade to Yasmin Ahmad.

This commercial has received 2 GOLD award for DIRECTING and COPYWRITING,

at the recent Cannes Lions International Advertising Feastival 2010, held in France over the past few days.

Both awards a most befitting honour to Yasmin.

...I am proud to have been her producer, but more importantly her friend.

You are very missed Kak Min, and I can hear the merriment of your laughter still.

  • @ashanntze was she the director or the writer?

  • learn to appreciate everyone..you never know what will happen in the future

  • @autumn4ever - Nicely put. :)

  • i cried

  • I like some of the things she says but I don't really like how everything has been made so beautiful and seamless.

Real life is raw and unpredictable.

  • By far. Best commercial I've watched my entire life.

  • @juan5557903 at this year's advertising rate it would cost US$2.6 million dollars per every 30 seconds. so yeah, US$15.6 million to place this add in this year's superbowl. just saying.

  • @comosar51 and then after seeing it everyone would be hugging each other

  • won 2 awards in france advertising film festival.....

  • so true...great message

  • towards the end the wife, she julie andrews it. like @ 2:06. when she was tlaking about beautiful imperfection. I think she got into character of the queen of Princess Diaries. or the narator side of Julie andrews. I thought it was lovely.

  • very touching vid =')

  • What is the name of the actress?

  • one of the best ads.

  • This is like, one of those short vids that makes me laugh and cry real badly.

  • I DID cry. lol

  • Thanks for posting, brought tears to my eyes and warmed my heart. Life is too short and we all need to be more appreciative of the imprefections of others before it's too late.

  • *touched*

  • How true...worth a watch.

  • the little imperfections that made them perfect...well said!

  • I'm glad I married my wife...

  • perfect

  • Perfect. The message is clear. Thanks for this video.

  • This reminded me of my friend George. George left this earth due to an inoperable brain tumor. He was tall, fat, hairy, scary, had the most jacked up teeth I've ever seen on a human being, and wore thick coke-bottle glasses. But, he had a heart of gold, was the nicest soul on the face of this earth. Would go out of his way to make sure you had a meal on your plate, or a couch to crash on or give you the shirt off his back. I'll miss you, George, you big lummox. He's farting in Heaven & laughing

  • I used to live in a third world country and although my family was a bit better off most of my relatives lived in poverty. Most of my aunts/uncles married not for love, but to better their lot in life. In the end manyl of them learned to trust and rely on and "love" their partner for who they were. Most of them are widows/widowers now, and although this commercial dramatizes the message a bit it exactly mirrors my uncles/aunts thoughts after their partners died.

  • i almost cried

  • Imperfections make them perfect to you... so well said!

  • i like what shadowdusk did to shixinnnn............. so powerful. kick that asswhip.

  • Good Will Hunting!

  • @WTFislpk YEap. There's a scene almost like this in that movie.

  • @zhixinnnn watch good will hunting again. the diff is that the character played by robin Williams wasn't trying to give a speech to a crowd and trying to up the drama-mama scale. that's what made it more powerful. the problem with this ad is that it actually melodramatizes death and people's reactions to it in such a contrived and self-absorbed manner.

  • its these ads that actually get into your head and make you think its these ads that get you interested in what they are saying its these ads tha twe need to see more of.

  • this commercial has won the golden award in the annual commercial tv ad awards for local advertisements. Good ad as it delivers a strong message.

  • @johcx lots of dictators win awards too.

  • This video is touching. It reminds me of my grandmother's funeral :(

  • I remember when this ad first showed up. I was in the bus on a normal school day when this ad showed up on tv, everyone was quiet, some even cried. Its truly touching

  • it's typically manipulative over-dramatized crap. fucking cliched. give me a break.

  • @shadowdusk over-dramatic would be wailing and screaming at a funeral. And if u choose to focus on the bad side of everything even watching a funeral; i cannot imagine wat will make u happy. This world is not perfect. if u think this commercial is cliche because the world is imperfect, then pls do create yr own 'utopia' where there is no sadness or happiness and everything is predictable.

  • @DeadHelena the point is i don't want utopia and this commercial is cliche. it's the reality tv types like you that soak it up cause u are actually the one who loves such contrived 'sadness'.

  • Love transcend all differences,

  • Wow, this was beautiful.... and so sincere....

  • Almost cried...

  • "....the little imperfection that make them perfect for you...."

    touching

  • sure - what about violence between spouses, child abuse and rape of daughters by fathers? i think this is a ridiculous soapbox. ad.

  • Just shut up and watch. if u don't like it don't watch then...

  • sorry i didn't know it was so traumatic to you.

  • @shadowdusk The part about her husband farting himself awake at night is similar to a scene in Good Will Hunting. Over-dramatized? I'd really like to see how you would act at a loved one's funeral. Maybe you should start lightening up and opening your eyes a little more towards love and stop judging advertisements with beautiful messages with such negativity.

  • @zhixinnnn and yes - when your loved ones die, i bet you want to give a speech too then. you watch too much reality tv crap. so is it about your loved one or really about your ego. i have no problem with the topic. i hate the pretentious delivery.

  • @shadowdusk I liked it. It made me remember a friend I lost. He was mean, and loud but hey was like a second father to me. But thats just me I dont know about you.

  • @shadowdusk seems like you speak for yourself.

  • *Applaudes*...truly touching and emotional. l laughed and than l cried as it touched it me deeply...thank you for sharing!!

  • the idea is quite similar with a scene in Good Will Hunting.

search : Good Will Hunting imperfection quote.

  • this has nothing in comparison with good will hunting. absolutely contrived here.

  • very touching, I cried :(

  • Does anybody know the title of the background music?

  • This reminds all of us that our family is not forever, we should treasure every sweet, sour or even bitter moments with them. As the widow said "It is the small imperfections that we will always remember." Have you told your family you love them today? T_T

  • wow! I am cryinggggggggggg. I laughed and then cried. touching video.

  • This is awesome! It is really touchy

  • AWESOME.

  • this is so beautiful.. tastefuly done

  • Whoever wrote this, deserves an oscar. Well done.

  • its by yasmin ahmad from malaysia ;D

  • does anybody know what the title of the instrumental music being played in the background is? thanks! :)

  • Dude the old guy got PWNED

  • can someone translate in wording ? the lady is talking too fast.

    thanks

  • lol how can you not keep up with what she's saying?

  • fantastic eulogy. only Yasmin can come up with something like that. She will be greatly missed.

    Bless her soul.

  • i have just received an email which you have removed, as people should be able to write in which ever way. as my comments still stand and also was a freind of this directors work for many years so please keep the good work as we should be able to get rid of iddiots who all they do is , talk rubbish and waste peoples time.

  • Touching speech.

  • All I can say is beautiful

  • i suffered a stroke after working as a commercial pilot and aso scuba dived .

this is a fantastic piece of work which has enabled me to be able to move forward

  • This commercial was the work of acclaimed Malaysian director Yasmin Ahmad. She passed away of a stroke in July of 2009 at the age of 51. This was her final work. Very appropriate.......

  • an incredible piece of work. congratulations.

  • i almost cried

  • @superpallid I cried. EVERYTIME I watch this... :"(

  • @superpallid my tears all came out... ="(

  • Thisis great!

  • excellent!

  • I think these very thoughts when my husband's noises bother me NOW when he is alive and beside me, and I self release with NMT. Hey, why wait for death, resolve to love and accept now!

  • I Love Lucy too...The episode with Rock Hudson...Maybe way before your time lol...

But yeah, being imperfect is what we miss when our loved ones die...Everything is in reverse

  • Its life. The true side of life.. This is our sign.. This shows, that we are humans. And we should be proud of it..

  • Mayans
