I have got a very good hint for you to keeping the nice old Engine in good shape with todays ultra dry eco fuels: Use 1:100 API TC two stroke oil / fuel mix as regular driving fuel, that keeps the old fuel-system gaskets, rubber parts, alloy parts etc... and cast iron metal surfaces of those vintage engines in excellent shape...and it also lubricates the valves and upper piston regions. Most Mercedes vintage owners in Germany do so :) Also keeps carbs and EFi injectors clean as new!
Mr. Ks also only made this body for nissan because he split ways with toyota after the 2000gt project ultimately fell through. So in all actuality, its a toyota with nissan bits stuffed inside.
They came with the L20, L24, and S20(only in the 432s though). Both L series had flat top carbs until 72, then they dropped the L20 and only had the L24. S20 stopped being put in in 71 and they focused most of the performance side of the company to the GC10 skylines. bluemaggot, the fact that you think anything really differs other then the badge makes you a tard
@MrMecrob1 - I'm not sure. I haven't dyno'ed it yet. I've got a wedding coming up so I haven't been spending much time with the car - actually that translates as "no time".

If that's the MSA 2.5" exhaust with the Dynomax muffler, you need to flip the muffler around. Most of the muffler tucks up nicely in the well. I just installed mine today.
@1Nibbie Call it what it is, a datsun. Fairlady was the name nissian gave the car. But MR. K, the guy who basically made this car a reality hated that name. He and his crew rebadged every single one of them as Datsun when they got shipped to the states.
@thebluemaggot bullshit. its because nissan built the japs alot of weaponry in ww2 that was used against the americans ... thats the reason for the marketing strategy ... Maggot
@thebluemaggot depends on how you look at it some may believe that it truely is a fairlady Z . yes your facts are correct but some believe that the fairlady is her birth name change to fit in with americans . so why not be proud of the where the car comes from and what the name is . my thought is both views are correct. atleast he didnt wana put a damn v8 in it
@96infinitii30 There's only one problem with that Opinion. The car may have been built by nissian in Japan But it was Mr. K's original intent to actually make this car available exclusively for the American Market only. The Z takes not a single thing from the original fairlady at all. The original fairladies were, unfortunately for Nissan, junk. I prefer to hail the car is it was meant to be and not what Nissan pretended it was.
@thebluemaggot first hope you dont think im trying argue. correct me if im wrong didnt the japan fairlady come with a L20 and not the L24 of the 240z?

How much does it take to turn a little L28 into a 3.1 stroker?
willymywonka 2 months ago
@willymywonka It takes quite a bit of money to do it "right". Definitions of "right" may vary however.
